No sir. Everything on earth has a determined cost. In those days of relative accountability and professionalism the cost of public works were determined, and properly appropriated.

If the road belonged to you as an individual won't you care to know how much it will cost you or.you just dish out money to your builder until hopefully he finishes the work.

You start with a Bill and whatever changes t is covered by a variation. Then the cost per kilometer rises or falls accordingly. But you START with a COST. If you don't what is the basis for cost control. How will you assess leakages and inefficiencies. How will you know if monies are not being stolen. How will you grade quality.

If there is secrecy behind the finances of this project it means one of two things, gross incompetence or serious corruption going on. Anyway of they remain dumb to information the next government surely will not because of the controversies. Umahi had better beware and be circumspect.

How is the question Rufai asked not logical for God sake, must you play politics with everything? What’s the cost per kilometer of the road you’re building is simple enough, even a secondary school student can answer that. Shame on the people leading this Country, because its becoming clearer by the day that they’re leading us to hell.

And everybody will have rested.

To be honest, Rufai could have worded his question better which will have left the minister with no wiggle room.

"Considering the coastal road has been completed by 10%, how much of the N100b budget has been spent"

or something else comparing to percentage completion with percentage actual expenditure out of the budget.
