Lagos state government should proceed with the ungoing demolition of illegal structures in line with the sustainable development goal as quoted. It is not only igbos that have buildings that were demolished in trade fair complex. Why igbos making it seem as if Trade fair is an igboland been demolished by the lagos state government. Few weeks back, a lot of structures were demolished at Oworoshoki and no one tribalised it. Likewise, many illegal structures were demolished across lagos but no noise was made about a particular tribe been targeted. Why only igbos? Are they the only tribe in Lagos? Must they always play victims whenever government policies affect them when it in truth affects every citizens? Lagos state government will not be blackmailed or intimidated in carrying out it's legitimate duties to ensure a safe, health environment for the good of every lagosian. |

Igbos are in support of making sure the proper building laws in Lagos are followed. Igbos are not lawbreakers. While development laws should be followed, regulators should also learn to nip contravening developments in the bud. It provides clarity for everyone. These demolished properties now, innocent tenants paid rent to be there and they don't know about the breach of development laws. |

Deuteronomy 30:15-16 15 See, I set before you today life and prosperity, death and destruction. 16 For I command you today to love the Lord your God, to walk in obedience to him, and to keep his commands, decrees and laws; then you will live and increase, and the Lord your God will bless you in the land you are entering to possess. Shalom!!! |

Clearly stated. Let he who has ears take heed. I see some nut heads throwing Jibes and making fun of the communique above. Instead of holding on to the facts and getting equipped with the necessary information for future reference. When the time for another visit from the LASG to illegally constructed buildings comes, it will be the same cry cry reaction all over again. The penchant for flouting every rule should be met with reasonable punitive measures henceforth. |

I love how Sanwo-Olu ignored the clueless Obi and the pokenosing SE senators and is issuing statements through his staff. He's telling them loud and clear that they are too small for him to give them a response. Lion no dey drag words with cat. 🤣 |

Unwholesome dredging activities causes flooding, when we take all the sand from the water without filling back we create vacuums and water escapes out, rushing to anywhere in its path. |

mascot87:You are comparing the shanties and batchers being demolished at Oworonshoki with the multi million naira mansions demolished at the Trade Fair complex. That's an unfair comparison. LASG could have opted for another method to resolve the matter instead of outright demolitions. It smacks of HATE and RANCOUR. |

The Lagos State Government reiterates its zero tolerance for illegal and unapproved developments within the Trade Fair Complex, Ojo, pending full compliance with planning regulations and the attainment of a safe, orderly, and sustainable physical environment. Naso.. 2. Over time, the Trade Fair Complex has degenerated into an enclave of haphazard and unsafe structures, posing grave risks to public safety and emergency response. In line with Sustainable Development Goal 11 — “Make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable” — and the State’s T.H.E.M.E.S+ Agenda, the Lagos State Government is acting strictly within its constitutional and statutory mandate, as derived from the Nigerian Urban and Regional Planning Act 1992, as domesticated by the Lagos State Urban and Regional Planning and Development Law 2019, and reinforced by the Supreme Court Judgment of 2003 (Attorney-General of Lagos State v. Attorney-General of the Federation). These legal instruments empower states to regulate physical development within their territories, including federal lands, except for areas under exclusive federal use such as military formations. Those illite-rates needs to understand this. |

When is LASG going to demolish all those structures in EbuteEro, Ebute-Metta and Idumota, that are standing like packs of sardines. Some of the houses lack ventilation with windows facing each order. When are the going to demolish all those illegal structure in Mushin, Agege and Oshodi? |

You'll never see them call out governors from their region anytime they embark on demolition of illegal structures but when it comes to Lagos, you see them shouting persecution as of na only their people demolition affected. Why not go through legal and normal process before starting any construction? You bypass the legal and required means and later be shouting witch-hunting, no be juju be that? |

If this trade fair complex is truly a federal government property, I wonder why they allow it to be dominated by people from one tribe. They are not even indigenous to Lagos state. We have over 250 tribes in Nigeria. A federal government property should be used by all Nigerians, not only people from a particular tribe. |

mascot87:In Nigeria and Lagos state in particular, you can find 'illegality' anywhere you specifically look for it. Go to Ikoyi, Ikeja, and even Banana Island, you will find illegality. LASG only seek where they want to seek for illegality. Use any form of legal nonsense term you like, what happened in Trade Fair is targeted persecution. Lagos is full of illegalities everywhere. Why the demolitions NOW?. Those houses have been there for years. |
