Was that '99 campaign or 2003?
It was 1999 campaign.

2003 was Tinubu Straight.

Was this after he had forfeited the drug money to the US government? How old was he then?

How many of these promises were fulfilled?

Typical politician, 60% fluff, 40% reality. For that 40% he did magnificiently well from civil servants to recognizing the income potential of Lagos through taxation and commerce. Let's not forget the revamping of motor parks and creating jobs for street urchins(agberos), man chopped money but also allowed others to chop, many millionaries and billionaires were made from 1999 till now, even his enemies got richer thanks to him grin grin grin

Tinubu is just a good orator for revenue generation and vote buying, but a very bad administrator.

Lanrelagboi:
Lagos has now crossed the 3 Trillion Naira annual budget mark. Crossed 2 Trillion in 2024.

Memory Lane: the first full-year Lagos State budget (Year 2000) in the 4th Republic was in the region of 40-something billion Naira. And it was described as “unprecedented” back then.

https://x.com/toluogunlesi/status/1877326708904181856?t=R_xycXnffVtjtiWwoGCzAQ&s=19[/quote]He has failed in Lagos for the past 26 years of huge reforms for revenue and budget growth to N3.4 trillion from N42 billion a quarter of a century ago.

He has failed to fulfil ANY of the promises made 26 years ago and failed in employing enough well paid civil servants to make ordinary water available for all Lagosians.

Ratio of public to private schools in Lagos State is one to 22 ― Commissioner
September 4, 2022

The Lagos State government has said the ratio of public to private schools at both primary and secondary school levels in the state is one to 22.

The state’s Commissioner for Education, Mrs Folasade Adefisayo, gave the revelation in her remark at the 2022 edition of the Total School Support Seminar Exhibition (TOSSE) held at Oregun in Ikeja between Thursday and Friday.

The more one tries to refrain from joining the fray, the more one gets dragged into it!

The main grouse that I have with the Asiwaju of Lagos is his crave for endless borrowings.

The other is, perhaps, the issue of insecurity.

Once he can rein in these two very debilitating areas of our national life, he is okay by me.

The nauseating focus on him and Lagos State to the extent of picking holes in everything is what I find unacceptable and curious.

The Op., for the sake of fairness, should have made a comparative analysis between Tinubu and other State Governors of his time so that the masses would be in a better position to make a balanced assessment/judgement.

Tinubu, from the class of the 1999 Governors, appears to be the most talked about of them all.

Why?

Because, like a goldfish, Tinubu has no hiding place!

He stands out amongst his peers like a newly minted coin.

Little wonder, he rose to become the President of Nigeria today.

Truly, who God has blessed, no one can curse, no matter how hard you may try.

What 40% of the promises on the campaign poster are you talking about? Did he promise to be a TAX master for the people?

Why were PDP politicians not as typical, based on their better performance in 16 years of deregulation and privatisation capitalist policies for widespread prosperity of all Nigerians? All these changed with APC palliative sharing shege of the past decade.

thisweekng:
The Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy Chief Olawale Edun has said the last time Nigeria’s economy looked stable was about a decade ago.

He made this statement during his maiden press conference as Minister of Finance where he outlined President Bola Tinubu’s vision, agenda and strategy for the economy.

He said, “I think as we all know, we are not where we should be. The economy is barely growing above the rate of population growth.

“But it was not always so, and I think in trying to look at the way forward, if we now have a situation of slow growth, double-digit inflation, weak/depreciating exchange rate, as well as security concerns that are resulting in an economy that is not growing and not taking Nigerians out of poverty.

“If we think back to the last time when the economy was stable- when it was growing, when inflation was low, and the interest rate was affordable, that period was about a decade ago. Growth was about 6% in 2013 and 2014.”

May Day: Hunger, unemployment, insecurity real— Tinubu

According to him: “The theme demands our collective attention and serves as a stark reminder of the need to create an environment where every worker feels safe, valued, and empowered to contribute to the growth and prosperity of our nation. As your President, I assure you that this administration is committed to creating such an environment for the common good.”

On the economic hardship, he noted that while it is a global phenomenon, its effects on Nigerians are particularly severe.

Tinubu said: “I am aware of the peculiarities of the economic hardship Nigerians face—rising living costs, hunger, insecurity, unemployment, and the loss of livelihoods. These challenges are real and demand definitive solutions, which I am poised to address as your President.

Why are you not equally bothered about him increasing the tax burden on the people even though he borrows heavily without doing anything for the people?

It should not be surprising that he has used mafia style to stand out from his 1999 peers, with trillions of Lagos money that has failed to deliver a tiny fraction of what Jakande did in four years before Buhari jailed him for corruption after his only successful coup against democracy.

Splashme:
The first civilian governor of Lagos State, Alhaji Lateef Jakande, on Tuesday, said that the cancellation of the Lagos metroline project in 1985 was a major mistake and disservice to many Nigerians.

Jakande spoke in Lagos during the launch of a book which chronicled his life in politics and journalism.

The book, entitled, ‘Jakande: Leadership in Action’ is written by Dr. Bola Olaosebikan, who told the audience at the event that the All Progressives Congress presidential candidate, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), was not responsible for the cancellation of the project.

Jakande said, “Reflecting on the metroline project, I think it is a major disservice to many Nigerians. Imagine how many people would have benefitted. It would have made life easier and changed the face of transport in Lagos. Whoever cancelled it or gave the advice towards its cancellation didn’t do right.”

The former governor asked Nigerians not to vote for unserious leaders in the coming polls, saying the elections presented Nigerians with a good opportunity that should not be squandered.

Expressing the hope that Nigeria would soon overcome its developmental challenges, Jakande said hope would be actualised faster if credible people emerged as leaders in the next dispensation.

He said, “This book comes at a very auspicious time in Nigeria’s history as we need leaders who can act. We need leaders who would not compromise the standards of good governance. God has blessed this nation the most in Africa, although we have not reached where we should be; with the right leaders, Nigeria would overcome its challenges.”

WHO SAYS 4 YEARS IN OFFICE IS NOT ENOUGH FOR MEANINGFUL ACHIEVEMENTS?

IT'S A FACT THAT 90% OF GOVERNORS IN NIGERIA SINCE 1999 WITH REVENUES AT THEIR DISPOSAL CANNOT BOAST OF A QUARTER OF THESE ACHIEVEMENTS EVEN WITHIN THEIR EIGHT YEARS IN OFFICE.

Tinubu and Lagos state did not collect any fund from FG when OBJ was president for 8:years, yet he ran Lagos state successfully with recognized LG and other LGs he created. He really tried.

It was when Fasola came that he collected all those funds

For where the records are there for all to see even after governing lagos for close to 30yrs with humongous resources, lagos has nothing to show for it ,that was where Daniel bwala got his statistics from when he said even if Tinubu is given 30 years as president he will still not achieve anything, that is giving his antecedents and so far his predictions are spot on

Lolz, u are not in Lagos then. All what he promised was implemented. Just check all , were implemented because before Tinubu there was nothing like BRT, lawma, Lasambus, lamata, lasma Market Structure, education for all, pay for WAEC , scholarship, LCDA, CDA , key hospitals programmes like jigibola, security number 767 created working till tomorrow, best economic programme that other states are following till today, heavy construction of many road projects by Aregbesola then under Tinubu. Etc. So the man has really tried. Nothing like 100% anywhere.
