The concept of "evil" has perplexed human thought for centuries, with philosophers, theologians, and scholars of various disciplines attempting to understand its origin. The question of where evil comes from—whether it is inherent in human nature, a result of societal influences, or a force external to humanity—has given rise to a broad spectrum of theories. In examining the origin of evil, it is essential to explore the views offered by religion, philosophy, and psychology. The so called developed world was not like this 100 years ago. They also had diseases and low life expectancy. We are at the bottom today doesn’t mean in 100 years time we can be better |

It is really sad we were never ready for progress making. Seems the colonial masters gave us independence when we were never ready See the man inhumanity to man in Nigeria today. Check out how progressively worst human governance have been in Nigeria till date. What about our ethno-religio-regional bigotry sentiments that has widened the divide? Chai! "Nigeria; My Believeth Country" by Funmi Adams is now meaningless. |

SeraphicWind:the people that develop a society at less than 0.5% of the population. The average human is not smart. Nigeria has retrogressed due to actions of the elite and politicians. Same Nigerians can be influenced to be better later in future |

Technology <// Education The more educated a blavk man is the more he tends to develop his surroundings, see this in kenya, cities in rwanda, south africa where the technology and access to quality education has made their lives easier |

SeraphicWind:The main problem of Nigerians is Selfishness The average Naija person is even too selfish to bother applying his own brain properly unless food, sex or cash is immediately involved |

SeraphicWind:There's an individual who calls himself kemetian. I'm sure he hasn't noticed this thread. Once he does he will show up and tell you how the black race invented pretty much everything and that it has always been the most progressive race. I grew up in Eleyele Ibadan. In the early 90s we could swim in the clear water of the Eleyele river. You could see the fishes swimming at the bottom of the river at some points of the river. Today that river is so polluted with refuse and sewage no one goes near it. Is that progress or retrogression |

The reason why life is better in oyinbo land is simple 1. Developed countries , most people pay massive taxes to their government. As a result they are incentivized to hold their government to account. And government has funds to pay for good roads and so forth. Nigeria is in the same position USSR was years ago. Trying to provide good roads on limited income. We don't rely on taxes, we rely on oil money that cannot feed 10 million people talk less of 200 million. Less than 30% of people pay tax to the federal and state governments. And you expect good roads and people holding their government to account? 2. Most developed countries rely on diversified and industrialize economies. That means enough cash for good roads. Nigeria, we rely on 1.8 m bod of oil to feed our government revenue. Again , that money is not enough for a nation of 10 million people. And the person complaining won't vote for a government that would guarantee industrial economy and diversification. He would vote for people that share the money. That's why we have leaders like tinubu |

Beautiful thread... Op you are 100% correct. I laughed when I saw the picture of the abbatoir you posted. Though it's a very sad reality of what is happening and not a matter to be taken lightly. Why is Nigeria retrogressing is a big question that requires a 10 volume page answer. At least some African countries are stable even though it's mediocre to use them as reference based on the huge potential the African continent as a whole weilds. I laughed at the picture of the abbatoir you posted because I lived close to an abbatoir in Jos for some time. I left after about 5 months even though my rent wasn't due. I was changing curtains almost every month, always getting catarrh from the smoke from whatever it is there were burning there, and my eyes would hurt from the smoke. This abbatoir to my house was a considerable distance not like it was close by. I always liken Nigeria to a jungle or Thomas Hobbes state of nature where life is considered brutish, Short and of the least quality. Even if we are poor we can't even manage to leave a decent lifestyle. It's a shame and sometimes I get tired of complaining about these things! |

FarahAideed:Dey play What about all the unexplainable cancer cases in the west All these problems also apply to the west sone in the same degree and others to lesser degrees The real issue is cutting edge knowledge which leads to power and wealth and are then used to maintain that cutting edge knowledge and technology and it becomes a self sustaining cycle No african country has a nuclear weapon There is no area of technology where an african country is on the forefront Dont get it twisted, Might is still right |
