With the emergence of Prof. Joash Ojo Amupitan a native of Ijumu Local Government Area a yoruba LGA in Kogi State as the new INEC chairman, I can confidently say that Tinubu has official renamed INEC to TNEC (Tinubu's National Electoral Commission). The ground work for 2027 has been set in motion. The "master strategist" can now lean back and go to sleep as everything has now been put in place.

If you are a fan of a football club let's say Arsenal FC and your club is playing against Liverpool FC, will you expect Liverpool FC to choose the referee of the match? Won't you protest if the match organizers decide to grant Liverpool FC the privilege to choose referee for the match? Won't you call that injustice? How will such a referee be impartial and allow Liverpool FC to lose the match? It is only in Nigeria that I've seen such an anomaly continue to occur without any strong push back from the people. It is so bad that at this point, it is laughable to still read comments been made by some Nigerians on the pages of news websites still reassuring themselves that the new TNEC chairman will grant them a free and fair election to vote out Tinubu who appointed him.

Since Nigerians have decided to fold their arms and do nothing to pressurize the national assembly to enact strong electoral reforms that would've guaranteed a free and fair election through the appointment of an independent INEC chairman, Nigerians hoping to remove Tinubu in 2027 should start preparing their minds on how to accept the painful reality of having him as president till 2031 because if majority of Nigerians who complain daily about Tinubu are comfortable in their nonchalant approach towards demanding for electoral reforms, then it is safe to conclude that a continuation of this government policies of more borrowing, high cost of living, more taxes, more lies, insecurity and propaganda beyond 2027 is not as bad as it is made to look by some Nigerians online.

How those people dey sound sometimes is worrisome

When previous presidents were appointing, where was this energy? Go and change the constitution if you're not happy with the president appointing INEC chairman. Once something does not favor you, crying starts.

Tinubu is the president and it is his constitutional duty to recommend a chairman for INEC just like it has been with previous presidents. I don't understand why it's suddenly an issue now.

My ranting is too much? Funny, I hope you won't cry uncontrollably when you're deprived of a fair election in 2027. Your 'ranting' then will be epic as your TNEC chairman will tell you to go to court.

Except you're a Tinubu supporter, Nigerians are setting themselves up for another 4 years of Tinubu's presidency.

I had thought Nigerians learnt their lessons after the nationwide outcry over 2023 Yakubu Mahmood's sham presidential election, I thought they wanted electoral reforms over the glaring dangers of the continued practice of allowing a seating president to appoint the INEC chairman but I was wrong as your comment and comment of many other Nigerian on this issue proves that no lesson have been learnt yet. Hopefully, when the 2027 presidential election result is announced in favour of Tinubu, you won't start crying, you won't be all over this platform posting threads on how the election was rigged.

Tinubu is the president and it is his constitutional duty to recommend a chairman for INEC just like it has been with previous presidents. I don't understand why it's suddenly an issue now.

He is not Dino's lawyer per se.
They are from the same village, Aiyetoro-Gbede.

Just like saying Onyechi Ikpeazu is Obi's lawyer because he handled some of his cases and they are from the same state.

Nigeria is a strange country because Nigerians are wonderful people that will allow a problem to fester, waiting until it is too late when the head is already off to take action. After all is said and done, then they turn around to blame others for their woes. Tinubu knows he can't win in a free and fair election, anyone expecting Amupitan the TNEC chairman to work against him by organizing a fair election that will remove him from power before 2031 is living in dream land.

I read that he was one of Tinubu’s lawyer in defence of 2023 fraud.

No matter what is collated and transmitted, they can change the figure on that table where they call the results. We saw lots of mutilated results the other time. We saw that even some northern results were uploaded for imo State. We saw that some uploaded results were different from what was collated.

What you're saying makes no sense.

If you want change, go and meet your senators and house of reps members to pass a bill that adjusts that part of the constitution. You can't just come and start attacking someone for performing his constitutional duties because you feel it should be done differently. IT'S IN THE CONSTITUTION. Infact Tinubu not doing it is illegal and unconstitutional.

Seems most of you don't even care about the constitution or rule of law except when it favors your agenda. Shows how myopic the black mind is.

Focus on the cause of the problem and not the symptoms of the problem. Tinubu appointing INEC chair is a symptom. The main cause of the problem is the constitution itself which should be where your energy and that of others with similar opinions should be directed.

I did not say that he commited a crime, in simple terms, what I am trying to say is that the process is flawed and will deliberately give Tinubu unfair advantage. Don't you want a free and fair election?

If you read my post, I specifically made the case that Nigerians should not expect a fair election when the process of choosing the umpire who will conduct such an election is skewed. After, the 2023 presidential election, there was a massive outcry of injustice by Nigerians and the opposition parties that participated in the election. Many Nigerians declared that one of the reasons why the election outcome was a sham was because Mahmood the INEC chairman was a covert APC agent appointed by President Buhari. A lot of noise was made back then regarding electoral reforms with so many political parties vowing to challenge INEC in court.

My final submission remains that since Nigerians did not agitate for electoral reforms or constitutional change till now, then it means that majority of Nigerians will be happy if Tinubu capitalizes on his presidential powers to win in the next electon. I called out Tinubu in my post because it is an open fact that he is a shady corrupt politician that thrives on dirty politics, knowing that his unpopular government won't win in a fair election, he won't hesitate to select someone loyal to him as INEC chairman which I believe he has done in the person of Prof. Amupitan. I hope am making sense to you now.

You are naive to still be thinking that this is about igbo or tribal sentiments. What is happening now is complete state capture of all critical institutions by Tinubu. I had said in an earlier post that APC will crush the opposition completely before mid 2026. Now that TNEC chairman is in place, what is left will be the mass defections to APC, this will be the final nail that will ensure a one party state for Tinubu to completely crush PDP and any other major opposition that may stop him before 2027 election.
