Unfortunately, Nigeria is far from being a serious country. Thats why a blood thirsty coup plotter, war criminal and military dictator such as Murtala Mohammed, can have Airports, Highways and landmarks named after him. He was even put on the N20 note. Yet there is nothing good about the man

Why not tell your Senators and house of rep members to pass a law removing Murtala Muhammed's name from all monuments and artifacts named after him instead of your daily opening of gazillions of IPOB inspired threads on Nairaland?

There was no massacre in Asaba.

It was an execution supported by the Geneva convention.

Those rounded up were the cowardly Biafran soldiers and their local collaborators.

The cowardly Biafran soldiers had ditched their uniforms for civilian clothing and were roaming the towns, villages and forests.

Word had gone out to notify Federal forces of any unknown persons roaming the towns and villages.

Many Biafran soldiers were rounded up alongside those who had supported and collaborated with the invaders.

The Geneva convention strictly states that all belligerents must wear their uniforms with their ranks, insignia on and have on them always their paperwork identifying them as a combatant and the units they belong.

Anyone who doesn't have all these on them when caught will be treated as a spy and spies are not covered by the Geneva convention.

Its a national embarrassment that shows the shockingly low standards of thr Nigerian society. People will see Murtala Mohammed on the N20 note, or see his name on the Airpprt, highway, then Google him to know who he is

And all they will see is coups, killings, war crimes, military dictatorship. What sort sane society honours blood stained coup plotter, failed soldier, war criminal and military dictator? You cant find one single good thing about the man
