Illiterate governor. That's about half the size of Auchi, one of the key towns in Edo.

Mumu boy...
What happen to buying BTC
The boy still get sense past you BTC value can depreciate anytime but lands can't depreciate just like that. His only mistake is buying it and doing show off. He could have buy it in his parent name and get legal backing for a transfer of ownership as soon as he is in his late 20s

I feel it is 14 hectares of land not 14k hectares.

Mind you, 1 hectare is equivalent to 1 standard football field. Imagine 14,000 football fields.

We barely have forest reserves that are up to 14k hectares in the state.

He did nothing wrong

Provided he not a Fulani boy or conspired with Fulanis to acquire the land
He did. A 17 year old cannot purchase land legally virtually in any nation of the world today. Including Nigeria. He must be 21 years old to be given approval of a State Governor to purchase land.

A lot of corrupt politicians buy land in the names of their children.

But under Nigerian law, a 17 year old is a child and lacks the legal capacity to enter into a contract

This is huge and questionable. im very sure his income can't be legit

See bad journalism , do you know what 14 thousand hectares is ? That's almost 1 percent of the entire Edo State ...this figure is totally wrong , I am calling BS

This makes sense....
If this is extended to corrupt politicians.... It will mark the beginning of a better Nigeria..
Anyone with a questionable source of wealth... Should be investigated.
. If the money is legit... Then should also have paid the exact amount of tax that should be paid...
Imagine if this was in place, where person like Dino melaye wan take get all the things wen e get

14,000 Hectares.... grin grin grin that's laughable..

That is about 14 district in Abuja (FCT). On the average...
That is about the entire Garki Districts + Asokoro District + Maitama District + Guzape District + Wuze 2 down to Abuja Central Area...
Even Wike the sovereign of the manor cannot boast of half of that parcel of land....

Check again sir, Mr. Governor. Maybe it is 14 Hectares.

Very scanty news story. What was the worth of it? In which part of the state? Who sold it to 'him'? And not to forget that this Edo state governor hardly gets his facts right. I will just take this as one of his numerous unverifiable claims. Another optical performance by a non-performing governor. grin

The Boy is not wise at All. The legal age to own landed property in Nigeria is 21. He should Have bought it under His mum's name.

Commonsensically talk. Of all those one can use as a front to buy land, why settle on a minor who is legally prevented to buy land in Nigeria when the land can be confiscated from him as Okpebolo will surely do once the boy's source of wealth is established.

He said 14k hectares......

15plots(1hectre) × 14,000hectres
=210,000plots of land.

So I believe the governor miss quoted, cos historically, he has problems with numbers.

How is that misplaced priority? 14k hectares of land purchased by a 17 year old is questionable enough for investigation.
