Hamas started it by invading Israel, killing some people and taking more people hostage. If Israel didn't deal decisively with them like this, other terrorist groups will have ideas to wipe them out. US would have done more damage if it happened to them. 9/11 attack had them searching for OsamaBin Laden for many years till he was destroyed with his grown up kids.

The devastation is terrible almost all houses are destroyed.
