Soldiers Feared Dead As Boko Haram Hits Borno Military Base by ogododo(op): 5:50pm On Oct 10, 2025
Suspected Boko Haram insurgents have attacked a military base in Ngamdu, Kaga local government area of Borno State.

Daily Trust gathered that the incident happened in the wee hours of Friday.

The insurgents, in large numbers, attacked the troops at the camp along Maiduguri-Damaturu highway.

Motorists and commercial drivers said as a result of the attack, the military blocked Ngamdu road until around 11:20am.

“I left Damaturu very early with the hope of arriving Maiduguri around 9am for an engagement but on reaching Ngamdu, the road was closed.”

“Some security personnel told us to be patient that there was problem on the road. But residents said the Boko Haram attacked the soldiers and killed some of them,” a traveller who did not want to be quoted said

Sources in the town revealed that terrorists took the soldier unaware.

“The attack lasted for hours before the insurgents retreated, but they killed and wounded soldiers,” he said

A security source told our correspondent that the casualty was not much as reported.

“Well, the terrorists attempted an ambush but our gallant soldiers have repelled them, and we have the a good fight,” he said.

When asked about the casualty, he said, “Yes some soldiers were wounded and taken to hospital, but the many insurgents were also killed.”

The military is yet to react to the development as of the time of filing this report.

I genuinely believe the Nigerian military and intelligence hierarchy is alarmingly incompetent and ineffective.

It’s disheartening that we keep hearing of military bases being attacked and terrorists operating freely, and it makes one question whether any meaningful intelligence gathering exists within our defense system.

A friend once told me that an average Nigerian policeman or military personnel cannot hit a target over a shooting range without shooting sporadically. That's how abysmal the system is.

Truly, it’s a national embarrassment.

Tinubu and his security chiefs thieves have sabotaged these soldiers again in war front, using their lives to play politics, may their souls rest in peace and condolences to their families.

They should really check the military ranks, cos I don't trust some northerners in the Nigerian Military.

One air force soldier was still telling a Christian civilian on social media that spilling his blood is permissible in Islam, we've also seen the NDA opening its doors to outsiders in the name of religion- a military organization allowing people come into their facility in the name of jumat, thereby getting bombed. How can you even expect such military men to put the country first when they are not even loyal to the army!

The security architecture in Nigeria is really leaking and northern muslims, especially those in the military are the prime suspects!
Many of them are in the military, many soldiers whom are nairalanders have shared their experiences with them. Very anyhow people

I can never understand why anyone will volunteer to join Naija army as a recruit and sacrifice his life to fight for this yeye country that is ruled by liars and wicked leaders.
I will rather become a POS operator working day and night than join Naija army and be fighting bokoharam fight..... Waste of life and destiny.... I believe doing car wash is far better than joining Naija army as a recruit. U are just an ordinary canon fodder of foooolish war

Government hand dey inside this Boko Haram nothing wey anybody wan tell me.

With the global technological advancements in military hardwares and with the huge amount budgeted for the Nigerian military since 2010 Nigerian government still cannot defeat Boko Haram.

One can only hope that surveillance drones are standard equipment with Nigerian military formations based in hostile areas of the country. That eye in the sky is absolutely essential as a force multiplier in all military confrontations. The model for this kind of new warfare with drones playing a prominent role, is being demonstrated daily in the Ukraine / Russia war.

When people stop getting recruited into the army, the terrorists will win and you will be affected.
Their fight is to make you a Muslim by force.

Thanks those who put their online to protect you against the terrorists.

I have watched as senior officers of the air force were shooting at the range. None of them could readily hit their targets. It was embarrassing. Surprisingly, they are only allowed weapons training once in a year for reasons I can't exactly understand.

But this is the 21st century and the theatre of combat has evolved. By the time you are exchanging bullets with the enemy, it is already late. That's why competent militaries have prioritised air cover and eyes in the sky capabilities. Frankly, I think our air force is really dropping the ball here. An army base is being attacked for hours and there is no effective response from the airforce? This is just embarrassing.
