She only escaped the judgement of this world - she will suffer 100 times more now plus her children will never be useful for her in this world.

Tinubu is a man with a good heart. He did this because of the future of the kids. Imagine not having parents (orphans) to guide them through life
What story the lady will tell the children she killed their father.

I don't support this from the government of PBAT.

Sowore has lost his mind. NK has indirectly caused the death of hundreds of people with property worth millions of naira lost because of NK..But no, he has not been convicted pf any crime. Whatever the govt. Choose to do with him is okay by me. He deserves it and for all that have lost their lives as a result of his incitement and other activities, May he never find peace.
And maryam sanda who killed her husband and caused ever lasting pain to his family and rendered the kids that the deceased left behind fatherless is a soft crime right?

May what befell the deceased husband befalls you.

and when the children grow up to know that their father was killed by their mother, I guess they will organize a party to appreciate the woman?

I doubt Tinubu went through the list presented to him or ask Germaine questions about them. This is the reason why some of his decisions are been questioned by the public. You pardoned the woman that killed her husband, did he carry the husband family along before making such a decision? Sometimes, when people express disappointment with this govt, I don't blame them because you see some decisions and begins to wonder who are those advising the government to take such steps.

It seems we are forgetting a very important part of this whole process. The President did not singlehandedly approve the pardon. A Presidential committee was inaugurated from across the spectrum and they came up with recommendations which were submitted to the council of state for approval.
Unfortunately, some people read only to comment and get likes but not to understand for future reference. This goes to show the level of our educational systems, producing graduates who are quick to talk but slow to understanding.

The presidential committee made recommendations, just that. Recommendations. The Council of State is advisory, not binding. Tinubu had the final say, and he chose to grant a pardon to someone convicted of murdering her husband. That decision speaks volumes about his values, and the optics are terrible no matter how many committees you hide behind.

And since you're so concerned about understanding, try understanding this: outrage isn't ignorance. People are angry because this pardon undermines justice not because they didn't read enough.

So instead of throwing condescending jabs at the education system from behind your keypad, maybe ask yourself why a murder conviction is being wiped clean and what message that sends to victims of domestic violence.

does such consideration apply to okada riders and truck pushers or just the rich

If he truly has a good heart he should order the release of those people spending years in prison without trial
People often spend more time in prison for alleged offences than the Tim they would have spent if convicted
We have children in prison with hardened criminals what is he doing about that

I do not like or dislike Tinubu . But let us stop unnecessary praise
There I nothing like good heart. He is a very busy man or at least he should be

He should not have time to think about who should be pardoned. So he will only treat those cases brought to his attention

Who is it that has access to bring clemency cases to his attention

Clemency is rarely for poor people

This is a very sad development. Very flimpsy reasons.

She has spent only 5yrs. Clemency would have been perhaps life imprisonment.

Is this country now saying that it is okay to kill your husband in Nigeria, you will be pardoned?
The lawyer lady who killed her hubby in Ibadan was also pardoned by Ajimobi

Once you're rich in Nigeria you can get away with literally any kind of crime no matter how heinous

In this kind of situation, the husband family must have also persuaded and have forgiven the lady and for the sake of the children... I think the pardon is right having served for more than 6 years.

For Kanu, in all sincerity, the cases are different. Is not making any sense and not logical to compare the two cases: Kanu is more political, the other is civil. The lady killed one her husband, Kanu killed uncountable and destroyed many. The lady has served more than Six years in prison after being convicted by a court of law but Kanu case yet to be completed in court. Even Faruk Lawal also served his jail terms before being pardon. I think is good to know and hear the final judgment on the case for reference and test of law. Is Kanu even ready to be Reintegrated back to the society without tormenting troubles? Would he not give the government issues when released? Are we going to have relative peace we are enjoying now? Are the southeast governors ready for his tension upsurge? So many things to be considered. Those sowore and Atiku knows what they're doing to tackle or disrupt the government. Not that they love Kanu or the southeast. Justice then also means the case be completed.

Victor Moses, Nigerian footballer was orphaned at 8 years old after losing both parents during a religious crises in the north. That didn't stop him from being a professional footballer that played for Chelsea and Nigeria.
This killer woman children could have had a great future as well.
What about the justice for the innocent husband family that are still mourning the loss of their son

I read with chagrin the release of Maryam Sanda who murdered her husband and made several attempts to cover her homicide.

The Federal High Court judge ( Yusuf Haiku) that convicted her claimed Maryam could not explain what happened to the broken Shisha pot in the sitting room on the fateful day. He assumed based on the circumstances before him that she used the broken Shisha to kill her husband. Additionally she was the last person with the deceased and must be responsible for his death.

Dissatisfied, the woman approached the AC which upheld the judgement of the lower court.

His Excellency PBAT used his prerogative power to pardon her having spent 6 years in jail as a convicted criminal based on her remorse and a good character at the Abuja Correctional Center.

One will think if this action of Mr President is justifiable.

In my opinion, the Amnesty Committee headed by the AGN must have contacted Sanda's family and sought their opinion on the release of the woman.

PBAT reserves the right to free any criminal in the Nigerian Correctional Centres.

However, since life is involved, the woman should have spent about 15 years in jail before she is released..

The excuse of taking care of the children seems flimsy. If she died on the fateful day, would the two children not survive?

The amnesty of Mr President may send a wrong signal to other couples who may think justice may be denied even if homicide is committed..

Husband and wife should be tolerant of each other as anger always ends in chaos and lifelong regrets.

This Sowore is definitely a fifth columnist working a Sinister angle because I don't want to believe he is daft enough to demand our President show the Universe he can arbitrarily wade into a matter in court and abrogate proceeding to tell everyone to go home.

Additionally you must have been convicted of an offence to be eligible for a Presidential Pardon. Kanu's case is in Court and not concluded yet.

Honestly, Sowore is trying too hard towards any hidden agenda he is working for because I can't see how he cannot understand he is sounding desperately lawless, a supporter of illegality and open undermining of the judicial system by our number one citizen to sane adult Nigerians minus the lawless IPOB whataboutism lot.

This is why he got 33k votes in 2019 and 14k votes, less than half his previous tally, in 2023. Sowore is simply same as Kanu. Dictatorial, fundamentalist and totally lawless.

If Yorubas were like Igbos we too would be hosting Yoruba IPOB today, sitting at home once a week while 12 year old with gun are lashing 80 year old granddads with koboko.

Remorse abi? It is just a matter of time before she kills another man in the name of husband, then you will all know what happened the first time wasn't any accident but premeditated murder (she threatened the act first before carrying it out). A premeditated murderet is a serial killer. Time will tell....
