You get it wrong in your 2nd paragraph.
The defense treaty with Saudi Arabia was actually in favour of Saudi Arabia.
Pakistan has nuclear weapons which Saudi doesn't have, & their military are more battle hardened & experienced than the Saudi military.

The defense treaty was actually because the Saudis want Pakistan to deter Israel from attacking them per adventure they attack Saudi Arabia seeing how some terrorist elements were attacked by Israel in Qatar.
The Saudis don't want a replica of such on their soil. They know they are not a match for Israel militarily, hence they aligned with nuclear armed Pakistan to deter Israel from attacking them.

Saudi has money but are militarily weak even with expensive military weapons.
Pakistan on the other hand are poor but have hardened & experienced military.

Afghanistan has the most modern weapons of war used by the US Army itself, weapons that even the USA cannot sell or even give free of charge to Pakistan nor Ukraine.
Just go and check the history and amount of weapons left by the Trump/Biden US withdrawal from Afghanistan.
Pakistan can never win in any conventional war against Afghanistan.
Afghanistan is the place where empires go to inorder to taste defeat.
Ask USSR and USA how far.
