The youths who are now calling the military to take over the reins of government would sooner than later rue being unreasonable in their quest for a better Madagascar.

Wanton destruction of government property in a fit of anger is counterproductive as lots of money would be needed to rebuild these critical infrastructure in the long run.

The best way to removing a "bad government" is through the ballot box and not with bullets or other undemocratic means.

Some very ignorant people are now calling for a similar scenario here in Nigeria.

Forgive them Lord, for they know not what they are asking for!

One can hardly blame them, for we are in an age where critical thinking has given way to brashness and erratic behavior.

One can only wish the youths of Madagascar well in their wokeness!

President Andriy Rajoelina himself came to power in 2019 through a coup.

Meaning the same way he came to power, the same way he is being chased out of power.

This is why democracy is what is actually needed in Madagascar where governments can be replaced through the ballot box.

The 1999 constitution made sure to structure safeguards that make carrying out a coup far more difficult compared to before.

Ministry of Defense is now headed by a civilian no longer military

Now, the President (Civilian rule) also has the title and power of Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces

Now service chiefs are subordinates of the president, selected by the president and must be approved by the senate.

Isolation of the Military arms (Army, Navy, Air Force) so they cannot work together on their own except through specialized Joint Task Force (JTF)

Growing internal politics in each arm of the military.

Fear of international isolation, fear of execution if coup fails.

Also, even if the coup was successful, any immunity granted to one's self doesn't hold compared to prior1999. This means the moment you are no longer in power, you will be arrested, tried and executed still. You won't enjoy life like Babangida, Buhari after loosing power.

These are just a few among many.

Military rule is 100x better than the phantom Democracy in Nigeria. Politicians and their lackeys are the ones against military rule--which tends to restore some level of sanity in the system.

Ghana turned around when a military officer Jerry Rawlings took over and did the needful. Today Nigerians have turned to immigrants in Ghana. For decades, France was in Burkina Faso practicing "democracy" and it took only the intervention of Capt. Traore to restore some hope on the citizens.

Currently Nigeria is being "ruled" through trial and error founded on massive corruption. Do you call that governance?

Malagasy people are an admixture of African people who emigrated from Africa and Asian people who came from what is now Malaysia/Indonesia some 1500 years ago.

Some Malagasy look very Asian , some look very African , some look like a mixture.

Military rule made Nigeria poorer than it was .

If it worked, we should have been a prosperous, manufacturing, exporting industrial nation in 1999. That we arent shows how bad it was.

Before you start, democratic rule has been no better.

But replacing it with army rule still brings the same issues and results. Our rulers are a reflection of we the people. We want a government that would share money, not a government that would use what we have to develop the nation

Is Ghana a rich nation post Rawlings? No. Rawlings just dealt with some corrupt people and practiced SAP to the letter, hence some improvement. But when he left power, Ghana economy was hooked up to cocoa and still is. It's just Nigeria with lower population and cocoa instead of oil.

You guys should know that at the end Sankara, Rawlings, Amin, Mobutu , Ghaddafi , and company are all the same people. Resource dependent economies that import consumer goods instead of investing in manufacturing and industrial independence. And thus today subsaharan African nations are still collectively broke.

Can you please show me a broadcast where Tinubu banned Nigerians from protesting? Last year NLC suspended a planned 2 days protest after the first day, that can be considered successful. We all have the freedom to protest, but people like you should come out too, instead of hiding under your beds cheering, and motivating people from your hiding place.

In Nigeria, maybe civilian protest is an avenue for the military and the police in the country to cash out becoz it did not make sense when dey switched sides after suffering from dsame things dat brought the protest in d first place.

They are the ones supporting civilian madness. I drove to the police barrakcs where I grew up and I almost cried. It is even worse than it was when I gre up there. these politicians have expensive houses in the US, UK, Dubai and have abandoned us with wacky health care system while we fund them to go abroad to treat them selves. omo, we are foolish.

You just said it all, they are the masses greatest enemy.. because they are all over the social media praising and romancing the evil politician for selfish gain,.my question is even if they amense the whole wealth to theirself by supporting the injustice system will posterity judge them well??
