Eniolohunda:Exactly. In your part of US. You can't say same for every part of the US. Just like you can't say same for every part of Naija. I am an entrepreneur in naija. I will need to earn ten times more in US to live the quality of life I live here. Let's not even talk about taxes. My ideal is to be able to go anywhere in the world whenever I need or want to, but my base, the place where my deepest roots and ultimate Investment in will always be in naija, then Africa before any where else. P.S. Your claim that only racists experience racism is a fallacy. You and I know that. And you have probably not experienced racism because you behave and stay in line. |

I would still consider. Abroad is just about financial security, it's more than that. Your children deserve another passport, peace of mind in Nigeria ? Okay Besides that 500k is just 6m Either way, JaPa |

Hhh4444:You have sense my friend. Those saying saving N500k is enough to keep them don’t understand how Nigeria has happened to people. Though legitimate emigration in terms of work visa is the best assurance 6m yearly? Really when will you build house, get a growing business, etc. |

Babaibe:Lmao, this your take is nonsense. You don’t know me, why should I be giving you details of my earnings. How can saving more than $5k a month be an issue for a senior cloud security architect. Quit the foolishness Mind you if I want to save more, I can easily do that. And to your credit score question, I’m in excellent standing! |

Babaibe:I clearly said I don't have intentions of traveling. And it's not really because of the money I'm able to save here. It's for other personal reasons by the way. That said, why I made my comment is because 90% of the commenter are behaving as if 500k savings a month is such a huge amount. And I'm just here to burst the bubble that it is not. Because the person saving such an amount won't even be able to japa unless they save that consistently for close to 8 years. Which isn't realistic as inflation will take its toll on the money. |

Maryam1234:And how long will it take you to save that N500K monthly to be able to buy any landed asset that is worthy of building any property on in this current Nigeria. My friend the truth is most of you have not seen money that is why you are all making this ignorant talk. If you are comfortable save N500K monthly in Nigeria, that means as a single guy you are earning minimum N900K monthly married man you are earning at least N1.2M monthly. And saving that will be N6M annually to get a good landed asset in Port Harcourt, where i reside. A landed property will cost from N15M buy and build land, depending on location, some cost as high as N40M and above, where i am residing now a plot of land costs from N60M and above. Let's say you choose one of N15M, that means you will have to save for a minimum of 3 years before you can afford a plot of land, which is 50x100. How many years will it now take you to build a house of your choice, maybe another 5 to 10 years, making a total of like 15 years, and you obviously cannot work for more than 30 to 35 years. So tell me if it is worth it then. |

Babaibe:keep living in your fantasy. You all will always believe what your imagination tells you rather than what the reality on the ground is. Is only someone who don’t understand why people japa that ask this kind of question. People japa not only for greener pastures, people japa to secure dual citizenship and secure a future for their children. People japa for good healthcare, people japa for security and the list goes on. So the question is, will 500k a month be able to all this for you in Nigeria? To some the answer is “yes” but for me the answer is “No”. |

Before now, I will say- I just want to go visiting and come back but as one experience more things and age, positions begin to change. To your question, Yes. When I left earlier this year, I had close to 500 as savings monthly, own a small car of my own, middle mngt bank job too. Since I left, (still settling though) I can't say I regret the decision. No noise, security is way better, power supply is great. Generally, amenities are in place. As to the kind of work.. hmmmmm.... |

I wouldn't only consider it. I will consider borrowing or selling off some assets to actualize relocating to Europe or Canada faster, rather than waiting to save up 500k naira (a little over 300usd) to actualize migration goals. I love my country Nigeria but the news headlines everyday is nothing to write home about. How does a sane country with right thinking leaders beg, broker peace deal, negotiate with terrorists and allow them go home with their RPGs, machine guns and AKs to continue sacking communities. What about the unfavorable economic policies that we are gaslighted everyday to believe are working for our good while the citizens can't afford good meals. Lastly, Nigeria's ever rising inflation will bastardize that 500k earnings and reduce it to peanuts in a short time |

BadEnglish:Don't mind these average thinking Nigerians that believe other countries are always better than theirs. People leave their countries to come and pack our wealth but we go to their countries to go and be slaving, all in the name of their money is strong and ours is weak. |

Hismercy234:Are we simply going to ignore the fact that most Nigerians are actually slaving inside their own country with nothing to show for it and no pathway to real freedom other than hope? I am lodged at a hotel in ikeja right now and the situation of the workers & hustlers around is pure slavery. They will gladly work in any warehouse in Canada. |
