Two different situations. In Plateau state, there are reprisal attacks. Both professing religions fighting each other.
i have NOT said that christians are not attacked or killed. You seem not to understand the ongoing politics and how they are aiming to make Nigeria a designated country of particular concern. Do you know that there will be sanctions on Nigeria military? Do you really think these guys suddenly care about Nigerian christians or destabilizing the country? Why do many refuse to discern the obvious? Instead i am getting christians trying to have me say what i already said about christian persecution/killing. Christian killings is not up to 10% of what is happening in Nigeria. The insecurity in Nigeria affects everyone, regardless of religion. Running to over 10years ago to set an agenda for today is misleading.

Same like i stated in the other thread. We are all aware of the killings and insecurity. The media talks about it. We see it shared; nobody is denying it or blocking it form being shared. And one of them lied that the media only says what the FG dictates. Even here on NL, everyday, we are daily inundated about both gory and fake news from the likes of SR, PG and co, either about insecurity, economy, corruption, politics, etc. It's not expected of the government to glamourise it. Like the video accepted, the government is not neglecting or denying it, but should do more than just condemn. ALL Nigerians are being subjected to murder by terrorists, bandits and herdsmen. It is not a matter of christian persecution, though that exists everywhere including Nigeria.
Like i stated also, these people have an end game, and it is not good for any of us. i understand there are political losers that have seen the handwriting on the wall as it were, and would rather everything scatter since they are not going to win anyway. They will defend and propagate anything anti Nigeria. i would be more circumspect and 'discerning' in the regard.

‘Reno Omokri Lied’: American Fact-Finder, Mike Arnold, Says Nigeria Is Facing ‘Calculated Genocide Against Christians’
October 16, 2025
NEWS

An American fact-finder and former mayor of Blanco, Texas, Mike Arnold, has dismissed reports circulated by former presidential aide Reno Omokri and his associates claiming that he (Arnold) “debunked” allegations of genocide against Christians in Nigeria.

Arnold described Omokri as a “pathological liar” attempting to distort facts and whitewash atrocities.

Omokri, a former media aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, had earlier challenged members of the United States Congress to identify Nigerians allegedly sponsoring terror attacks that have led to claims of genocide against Christians.

Speaking at a press briefing in Abuja on Tuesday, also attended by Arnold, founder of Africa Arise International, Omokri insisted that the violent incidents in Nigeria did not amount to genocide.

“Saying there’s a genocide in Nigeria is like saying that in the United States, because 30,000 people, mostly black, are murdered every year, there’s a genocide against black Americans,” Omokri argued.

“That’s the same as claiming genocide against Christians here. It’s not true. But if you think it is, name names. Don’t just make baseless accusations.”

Omokri maintained that there was no credible evidence of a Christian genocide in Nigeria, adding that even Open Doors International, a global Christian persecution monitor, had not classified the situation as such.

“Open Doors themselves haven’t said there’s a genocide in Nigeria. They never used that word,” he said.

“And if you look at the Global Terror Index, Nigeria has actually improved, down from the third most terrorised country to around number eight.”

He added that while impunity in Nigeria remained a concern, it was being gradually addressed through military and police reforms.

“Impunity is ending,” Omokri claimed. “We can’t be everywhere at once, but the process is underway.”

However, in an X post on Wednesday, Arnold sharply refuted Omokri’s claims, describing them as false and malicious.

“Sleazy Omokri, a pathological liar, will go down in history as the Joseph Goebbels of the Nigerian Christian Genocide,” Arnold declared.

“His paid "reporters" are saying that I "debunked" claims of genocide.”

Arnold, who led a U.S. delegation on a fact-finding mission to Nigeria, said his team had visited multiple states, met both Christian and Muslim leaders, and toured several internally displaced persons (IDP) camps as part of an independent investigation into widespread violence.

“My only allegiance is to the truth and getting it out. I tagged those I thought would be most likely to trumpet what I was saying. I honestly don’t know much about Nigerian politics. Those were just the big influencers that kicked up on my feed,” he wrote on X.

“I came here with one instruction: to meet key people and tell the truth,” Arnold said during the press conference. “The truth is not comfortable, but it’s what remains when propaganda fails.”

The delegation, which included Professor Khalid Abubakar, Secretary-General of Jamaat al-Nasir al-Islam, and U.S. filmmaker Jeff Gibbs, briefed American policymakers, including Senator Ted Cruz and Congressman Chip Roy, before departing for Nigeria.

Arnold clarified that, although Omokri had invited him, he had no financial or political ties to either Omokri or the Nigerian government.

“Reno Omokri called me while on a call with Nigeria’s National Security Adviser,” he explained. “But I am not his agent. I’ve not received, requested, or been offered a single kobo. I am here independently.”

Reading from a prepared statement titled “Statement on Widespread Violence and Displacement in Nigeria,” Arnold said his findings, backed by diplomats, human rights lawyers, and field investigators, documented a decade-long campaign of targeted violence.

He traced Nigeria’s descent into mass displacement to the rise of Boko Haram in 2011, noting that the country had gone from near-zero displacement to more than four million internally displaced persons in just over ten years.

According to Arnold, the pattern is consistent.

He attributed the ongoing violence to three intertwined drivers: radical Islamist conquest, illicit ‘blood mineral’ mining, and politically motivated demographic re-engineering.

“The term farmer herder clashes is, in many instances today, is cynical doublespeak. Weaponizing historical land disputes to mask jihadist conquest. For centuries, herders and farmers co-existed with rare, very rarely lethal disputes,” he said.

“Now villages are systematically razed, churches leveled, and tens of thousands are dead. This is a systematic terror and not grazing conflicts. A lie akin to calling Bosnia's ethnic cleansing a neighborhood spat.”

Citing Article II of the 1948 United Nations Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide, Arnold asserted that Nigeria’s situation meets the international legal threshold for genocide.

According to him, after five years of investigation, he could say, “The campaign of violence and displacement in northern and middle belt Nigeria does indeed constitute a calculated current and long-running genocide against Christian communities and other religious minorities without any reasonable doubt. To continue to deny this is to be complicit with these atrocities.”

Arnold warned that continued denial of the atrocities only emboldens perpetrators.

“To continue to deny this is to be complicit with these atrocities,” he said. “I say this not in anger, but in truth and grief. My stated assignment from my host was to speak the truth and I have done that to the best of my ability. I believe Nigeria has a bright future.”

“I believe in Christian Muslim harmony. I believe good people of every tribe and faith and party must stand against this evil, but first we must name it. Here I stand,” he added.

He concluded that his team’s report would be submitted to U.S. policymakers and international human rights organisations upon return.

“Here I stand. I can do no other. So help me God,” Arnold said.

I noticed Islamic religious leaders in the north did not even send condolences when the terrorists attacked churches in Ondo, no condolences when the terrorists attack plateau Christians, no condolences when churches were attacked in southwest states, and north, no condolences when Deborah and the other Christian girls were killed by the Islamic mob.

This is a conspiracy.

South African Journalist Condemns Al Jazeera Article, Says ‘Christian Genocide’ In Nigeria Driven By Islamist Ideology
October 20, 2025
NEWS

The article, written by Gimba Kakanda, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Research and Analytics, was titled “No, Bill Maher, there is no ‘Christian genocide’ in Nigeria.”

South African-born investigative journalist and former CBS News correspondent, Lara Logan, has publicly criticised Qatar-based global news network Al Jazeera for what she called a deliberate misrepresentation of the ongoing Christian genocide in Nigeria, accusing the network of downplaying ideological extremism and blaming climate change instead.

Logan made the remarks in a post on X (formerly Twitter) while reacting to an opinion article published by Al Jazeera on October 2, 2025.

The article, written by Gimba Kakanda, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Research and Analytics, was titled “No, Bill Maher, there is no ‘Christian genocide’ in Nigeria.”

In the piece, Kakanda dismissed claims of systematic killings of Christians as “foreign propaganda” and said such narratives “ignore the complexities” of Nigeria’s internal conflicts.

He wrote that “Nigeria’s conflicts are multi-faceted, driven by ethnic rivalries, land disputes and criminality, with religion often secondary.” He also argued that “claims of a religious war between Muslims and Christians in Nigeria are simplistic and betray ignorance of the country’s internal dynamics.”

Responding in her X post, Logan said: “Wow. Al Jazeera is profoundly wrong on this. I have been covering the Christian Genocide in Nigeria for years - largely thanks to the incredible work of Nigerian journalists like Lawrence Zongo, Tom Garba, Masara Kim & their colleagues at Truth Nigeria.”

She accused Al Jazeera of ignoring the ideological and religious motivations behind the violence.

“Herders who carry the black flag of al Qaeda & scream ‘Allah uAkbar’ as they slaughter women & children in village after village are not motivated by climate change but ideology,” she wrote.

Logan added that the attacks were deliberately designed to wipe out Christian communities.

“The attacks are time to destroy crops & prevent the return of people to their homes, thereby cleansing the land of Christians,” she said.

Her remarks directly contradict Kakanda’s position that “to present these conflicts as evidence of a Christian genocide erases these realities and distorts Nigeria’s history.”

Kakanda had also claimed that “most of Boko Haram’s victims have been Muslims,” and accused Western media figures such as American host Bill Maher of pushing “fabricated claims and manipulated images from unverified outlets.”

But Logan described such arguments as deceptive attempts to blur the truth.

“The truth is always simple at it’s core - those who seek to create ambiguity make it complex so they can deceive,” she stated.

Her X post has since drawn widespread attention, reigniting debate over how global media frames Nigeria’s ongoing violence.

SaharaReporters earlier reported on Monday that Nigerian actor and media consultant Joseph Chidi Okechukwu, popularly known as J. C. Okechukwu, had threatened to lead a mass boycott of Al Jazeera in response to Kakanda’s article.

He accused the network of “mocking the blood of innocent Christians” and vowed to mobilise churches and civil society groups to stop watching and engaging with Al Jazeera content unless the opinion piece was retracted and a public apology issued.

Why there is Christian genocide in Nigeria — Bishop Abioye
Israel Arogbonlo
October 29, 2025

General Overseer of the Living Word Conquerors Global Assembly, Bishop David Abioye, has attributed the alleged Christian genocide in Nigeria to what he described as the silence and selfishness of political leaders who deny the reality of targeted killings for personal gain.

Bishop Abioye made the assertion while addressing his congregation during a sermon, accusing political leaders of turning a blind eye to mass killings for their “personal interests.”

According to him, the evidence of targeted killings against Christians is overwhelming and can no longer be dismissed.

“Information with facts can’t be thwarted. You see people (Christians) being buried in hundreds, and you said there is no genocide? What a wicked set of people!

“I agree that there are other people killed in other places for other reasons, but Christian genocide is very clear and gradually, it is eating down to the South.

“Southwest and Southeast, and many so-called leaders, for their personal interests, are claiming that it is not true,” he claimed.

His comments come amid ongoing debates over claims by some US lawmakers and religious freedom advocates that over 30 Christians are killed daily in Nigeria.

The group has called for the country to be designated as a Country of Particular Concern (CPC) over alleged religious persecution.

However, the Federal Government has dismissed the allegations, insisting that Nigeria’s security challenges are not religiously motivated but rather stem from criminality, banditry, and terrorism affecting all citizens regardless of faith.

‘Christian genocide’: US senator sponsors bill to sanction those who implement Sharia law in Nigeria
Adam Mosadioluwa
November 1, 2025

A United States senator, Ted Cruz, has sponsored a bill to sanction individuals and government officials involved in enforcing blasphemy and Sharia laws in Nigeria, following allegations of widespread persecution of Christians in the country.

Cruz, in a statement released on Friday after President Donald Trump designated Nigeria as a “country of particular concern,” said he had introduced legislation to reinforce the U.S. government’s stance and hold accountable those responsible for the alleged religious oppression.

He said, “I am deeply gratified to President Trump for making this determination. I have fought for years to counter the slaughter and persecution of Christians in Nigeria, and this year introduced legislation that will lock in the designation made today.”

According to him, the bill would strengthen measures against Nigerian officials accused of enabling an environment where Christians face targeted violence and discrimination.

“Today’s designation is a critical step in holding accountable and changing the behaviour of Nigerian officials who have facilitated and created an environment conducive to the outrages in Nigeria. My legislation implements additional steps, including targeting those who implement blasphemy and sharia laws in Nigeria, and I am committed to working with the administration and my colleagues to advance my bill and implement these necessary measures,” he stated.

Cruz also commended President Trump’s leadership, saying, “Today’s decision by President Trump is a great one, and I thank him for his strong leadership.”

Trump’s declaration came after he alleged that thousands of Christians have been killed by radical Islamist groups in Nigeria, describing the situation as a growing threat to Christianity.

He warned that the United States “cannot stand by while such atrocities are happening,” calling for immediate investigations and policy actions.

However, both the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and the Nigerian Presidency have dismissed the allegations of a Christian genocide.

While CAN described the reports as false narratives peddled by foreign agents, the Presidency insisted that there is no religious war taking place in the country.

‘Christian genocide:’ Nicki Minaj praises Trump for designating Nigeria as ‘country of particular concern’
Adam Mosadioluwa
November 1, 2025

American rapper Nicki Minaj has expressed support for President Donald Trump’s decision to designate Nigeria as a “country of particular concern” over alleged persecution of Christians.

In a post on X, Minaj said she felt grateful to live in a nation where people can freely practise their faith, stressing that no one should face hostility for their religious beliefs.

She noted that persecution against Christians in various countries is a global crisis that should not be ignored, urging people to pray for victims and show mutual respect despite differing beliefs.

The rapper tweeted, “Reading this made me feel a deep sense of gratitude. We live in a country where we can freely worship God.

“No group should ever be persecuted for practicing their religion. We don’t have to share the same beliefs in order for us to respect each other.

“Numerous countries all around the world are being affected by this horror & it’s dangerous to pretend we don’t notice.

“Thank you to The President & his team for taking this seriously. God bless every persecuted Christian. Let’s remember to lift them up in prayer.”

Breaking: Trump Threatens to Send Troops to Nigeria 'Guns-a-Blazing' to Stop Christian Mass Killings
By Jack Davis
November 1, 2025 at 2:32pm

One day after President Donald Trump denounced the slaughter of Christians in Nigeria, he raised the possibility of military action if Nigeria does nothing to stop Islamic terrorists who have been operating with little to no governmental resistance.

“If the Nigerian Government continues to allow the killing of Christians, the U.S.A. will immediately stop all aid and assistance to Nigeria, and may very well go into that now disgraced country, ‘guns-a-blazing,’ to completely wipe out the Islamic Terrorists who are committing these horrible atrocities,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

“I am hereby instructing our Department of War to prepare for possible action. If we attack, it will be fast, vicious, and sweet, just like the terrorist thugs attack our CHERISHED Christians! WARNING: THE NIGERIAN GOVERNMENT BETTER MOVE FAST!” Trump wrote.

In a recent video posted to X, Republican Rep. Riley Moore of West Virginia noted that Nigerian Christians are facing “a systematic campaign of persecution by Islamic terrorist organizations.

“I think there is a question of their collusion in between the current Islamic government in Nigeria and the terrorist organizations that are killing Christians en masse,” he said.

Moore said there had been “7000 Christians murdered this year, that’s 35 a day are killed in Nigeria just for professing their faith in our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.”

“The government in Nigeria is complicit in the suffering of our brothers and sisters in Christ,” he said in another recent interview, according to Peoples Gazette.

“If I should give some numbers really quick here: there have been 50,000 to 100,000 murdered Christians in Nigeria. This is an astounding number nobody is talking about. It’s genocidal numbers. And at the same period, we have had over 19,000 churches attacked or destroyed.”

“Nigeria has become the deadliest place in the world to be a Christian,” Moore wrote in a letter to Secretary of State Marco Rubio calling for action to protect Christians.

Moore had been calling for Nigeria to be declared a country of Particular Concern, which means it could lose its aid. Trump acted Friday to make that declaration.

“Christianity is facing an existential threat in Nigeria. Thousands of Christians are being killed. Radical Islamists are responsible for this mass slaughter. I am hereby making Nigeria a “COUNTRY OF PARTICULAR CONCERN,” Trump said in a Truth Social post.

In response to Trump’s action, Nigeria promised it would fight extremism, but also denied the reported mass killings qualified as “genocide.”

“For the avoidance of any doubt, and out of respect for all the victims and survivors around the world of this unique and appalling crime against humanity, let the record show that there is no genocide, now or ever, in Nigeria,” Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, Minister of Foreign Affairs, said, according to Newsweek.

During his first term, Trump placed Nigeria on a watchlist for its actions against Christians.

Former President Joe Biden took Nigeria off the list.

US Lawmaker Moore To Tinubu: "Don’t Test Donald Trump’s Resolve On Christians Killings"
November 2, 2025
NEWS

Moore warned that others who had tested the resolve of the Trump administration in the past had failed.

A United States lawmaker, Riley Moore, has urged the Nigerian government led by President Bola Tinubu not to test the resolve of the United States government under President Donald Trump, on the alleged Christian genocide in the country.

In a post on his official X handle, Moore warned that others who had tested the resolve of the Trump administration in the past had failed.

"To the Government of Nigeria & @officialABAT: "President Trump has provided forewarning if you do not correct the current state of inaction to stop the killing of our brothers and sisters in Christ in your country. The days of the US looking the other way are over - it will never happen on @POTUS’ watch.

"I urge you to cooperate with us in preventing this atrocity that worsens everyday. We want your people to live in peace - all of them, especially Christians.

"The President has been clear. I would not to test his resolve. Many have tried and all have failed.

"We will not allow the gates of hell to prevail against the faithful."

Moore’s comments come as President Trump warned that he would deploy the U.S. military to Nigeria if the “killing of Christians” in the country does not stop.

According to Trump, the United States military may come “gun-blazing” into the country.

"If the Nigerian government continues to allow the killing of Christians, the U.S.A. will immediately stop all aid and assistance to Nigeria, and may very well go into that now disgraced country, ‘guns-a-blazing,’ to completely wipe out the Islamic terrorists who are committing these horrible atrocities.

“I am hereby instructing our Department of War to prepare for possible action. If we attack, it will be fast, vicious, and sweet, just like the terrorist thugs attack our CHERISHED Christians,” he said.

While the Nigerian government has not reacted to the threat of invasion, it has denied the existence of any Christian genocide in the country.

According to the government, such claims are false and do not represent the daily realities in Nigeria.

SaharaReporters earlier reported that on Friday, President Trump said that in response to claims of genocide against Christians in Nigeria, he had redesignated the country as a “country of particular concern.”

He had announced the decision on his Truth Social media platform.

Reacting, however, the Nigerian government— through the country’s President, Bola Tinubu — denied that there is religious intolerance in Nigeria.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the President emphasised that Nigeria’s constitution enshrines the protection of religious rights and that his administration continues to ensure equality for all faiths across the country.

“Nigeria stands firmly as a democracy governed by constitutional guarantees of religious liberty,” Tinubu said.

He noted that since assuming office in 2023, his administration has maintained active engagement with both Christian and Muslim leaders while working to tackle security challenges that affect citizens regardless of their religious affiliation.

“Since 2023, our administration has maintained an open and active engagement with Christian and Muslim leaders alike and continues to address security challenges which affect citizens across faiths and regions,” he stated.

Tinubu dismissed what he described as a mischaracterisation of Nigeria’s religious landscape by external observers, saying such claims fail to reflect the country’s diversity and the government’s ongoing efforts to promote peaceful coexistence.

“The characterisation of Nigeria as religiously intolerant does not reflect our national reality, nor does it take into consideration the consistent and sincere efforts of the government to safeguard freedom of religion and beliefs for all Nigerians,” the President declared.

He stressed that religious tolerance remains central to Nigeria’s national identity, insisting that the government neither supports nor condones persecution based on faith.

“Religious freedom and tolerance have been a core tenet of our collective identity and shall always remain so. Nigeria opposes religious persecution and does not encourage it,” he affirmed.

Tinubu further underscored that Nigeria’s constitution guarantees protection for citizens of all faiths, reiterating that his administration will continue to work with international partners to promote understanding and safeguard communities.

“Nigeria is a country with constitutional guarantees to protect citizens of all faiths,” he said.

“Our administration is committed to working with the United States government and the international community to deepen understanding and cooperation on protection of communities of all faiths,” Tinubu added.

Feeble words and response to real threats
Dr. Olukayode Oyeleye

First, it is saddening that Nigeria would need to be told that there is any genocide within its territory. It is even more appaling that Nigerians will be quick to play down the talk on genocide. It is preposterous that the unwarranted, avoidable terror indiscriminately unleashed on Nigeria, first sporadically since 2017, and later on a widespread basis all over the country since 2019, could be treated like a non-existent or inconsequential matter just few years after they began. Sounds like a collective amnesia. The threshold of tolerance to suffering in Nigeria is beyond comprehension.

The way Nigerians now analyse issues of existential impacts is baffling. When the various forests in Nigeria were becoming occupied by armed foreigners who robbed, killed, raped and kidnapped people, social tension quickly built up. Fear became the norm. Rural communities that have long enjoyed quiet serenity and security, in particular, became unsafe and vulnerable to incessant attacks. Farms were abandoned and food security was threatened. Of course, many abandoned farming altogether and internally displaced people's (IDP) camps experienced an upsurge in number and population of people. Many poor farmers and commercial farmers were slayed without any consequence. It is interesting that ordinary Nigerians and people in positions of power and authority have suddenly soon relegated that experience that lasted through till 2021 to the dustbin of history, or have simply just wished the past away. But it took external pressure on President Muhammadu Buhari to take action, leading to a drastic reduction of those terrible incidents then.

It is well known that the government of the day then was complicit. More than one state actors confessed to bringing the armed external aggressors into Nigeria for the purpose of winning election for the current ruling Party, the APC. If Canada therefore designated this party as a party of terrorists, what have they said amiss? A former governor who is the immediate past governor of a major northern State, and very close to Buhari, confessed to paying settlement to the hired armed men as parting gifts when they thought it was time for those men to leave. But, here is the twist. How many of them left? After they had been recruited and promised that they could find a permanent abode in Nigeria for the nefarious duty they were called upon to do, so, some people considered it easy to dislodge them from a place they have come to see and claim as their home?

The logic of people who brought them in, armed them and gave them free rein to roam about the whole of Nigeria is awkward. Their actions were defended openly by politicians who argued under the guise of itinerant cattle rearing known as nomadism. They vehemently defended the age-long practice of allowing animals to roam freely, arguing that everywhere in Nigeria was a cattle trade and grazing route. Their arguments, puerile and illogical as they sounded, were promoted on the floor of the national assembly while the promoters denied the atrocities committed by the invaders who used cattle rearing as a subterfuge to invade Nigeria, North and South without establishing any clear contribution to the economy of Nigeria. Two things were fundamentally wrong and suspicious about these apologists. On one hand, they were actively aware of the invasion, which was clearly undeniably orchestrated for a purpose - to gain power and influence. This was in lockstep with a religious agenda. Secondly, they looked the other way when those invaders wreaked havocs in communities. Many who were attacked and dared to report were disappointed as the "higher authorities" gave them cover. Orders to release from the police force headquarters were usually handed down to officers where the killers were apprehended. Reprisal killings were condemned when the assailant killers were left untouched.

On the other hand, the state apparatus went on overdrive after those whistleblowers who provided vital intelligence information to help the security agencies. What happened to Dr. Obadiah Mailafiya was particularly telling. He was hounded and became an object of harassment for exposing some details extracted from some assailants. It is a pity that Dr. Mailafiya paid with his life. But when villagers and rural communities came under constant attacks, a presidential order came that those communities should disarm. If this does not raise any red flag, what else does in an environment that is under-policed? The timing of military intervention in many communities attacked became suspect. Why would the military be absent in a place under threat only to show up after the threat has been carried out and people have already been slaughtered?

Since the government at the centre that is supposed to protect the territorial integrity of Nigeria is populated by some key figures thwarting that ideal, the porosity of the border has allowed infiltration by armed foreigners who are up to no good. They are aided and supported by those with tribal or religious commonalities within the country. Even the talk about resettling, integrating or even enlisting in the military of the so-called repentant killers is unnerving as an incentive to have no remorse and think their actions are justified. Juxtapose this with the confusion about the national identity numbers (NIN) for foreigners, a policy that has done havoc in the land. Internally, therefore, the government, since Buhari, has created an enabling environment for terrorism to thrive in Nigeria. One of the telltale signs was the refusal of Buhari's government to label the killers as terrorists and treating them as such. Why sticking to the words like bandits, insurgents and gunmen when the appropriate description is that they are terrorists? The other has to do with the pecuniary benefits that have come to accrue to the terrorist supporters, especially those involved in drugs and arms smuggling and sales and those who benefit from the proceeds of people's abductions. We are told some of those kidnappers have masters they report to and some of their backers are in top government positions.

All lives matter and are equally important. This is applicable and tenable where leaders in power adhere to godly principles and are faithful to the country's constitution they swore to uphold. In reality, however, there is an agenda that is systematically being pursued and carried out. Such an agenda thrives on obfuscation and deception. The killings done in Nigeria are more of a part of carefully thought-out agenda than mere happenstance. The patterns are obvious and consistent. Statistically, the killings weigh more against some groups of people than others. For instance, the collateral damage to Muslim population is being used to justify the killings of Christians. Such defence as "Muslims are being killed too" is not only an awful attempt to escape fault and blame but a poor way of explaining away the killings of greater population of Christians. The poor job done here is what has exposed Nigerian government, especially the current government, to external scrutiny. The Muslim leaders have a good opportunity to provide statistics to defend the position that Muslims are being killed in the way as Christians. Maybe this would shift the prevailing opinion where it matters. It will be pretty difficult to fend off the allegations of the US against this government, especially as its two top-notch leaders (president and vice president) are Muslims. The pacifist approach of negotiating with the terrorists, the settlement agreements to limit further damage, the ceding of some areas to terrorist control and the refusal to brutally respond to their activities in certain areas such as Niger, Kaduna, Benue and Plateau states, provide no reassurance of any quick solution to the terrorist activities in Nigeria. All things considered, the scale of attacks and killings of homogeneous population of the same religion cannot sensibly be wished away as mere happenstance, especially given the manner of attacks (nocturnal, unprovoked and war-like) and their religion.

The voices of those who should rise up and hold the feet of the government to the fire have been muted. Armed forces and paramilitary personnel are under the control of the federal government. Even though we hear of Commissioners of police in the states or military brigade commanders, none of them can take any decisive action without an approval signal from their headquarters and, by extension, from the commander-in-chief of the armed forces. So, the idea of passing the buck over the allegations of genocide against Christians is just a proof of either complicity or incompetence or both, especially when the government itself has no statistical data to justify its defence. Why sweat over rebuttal of allegations while the very problem remains unaddressed?
