Obnoxious2001:Lol, this controller na glorified pwm (my experience sha). Imagine make you get 1.1kw of panels yet controller dey insist on taking in only 200w max. It got so frustrating I had to even increase charging voltage to 15.3v, just to cross up to 300w. Battery never charges. For your issue you might try downloading the app and control from there, I've made the APK shareable here : https://drive.google.com/file/d/1r00WuSTO3dgmt_y21eJyBbYILtSbLVTP/view?usp=drivesdk |

clevermugu:The mistake most of us make here is that we generally believed people earn as we do and also know what we know. There are more poorer ones than the average. These ones want to go solar with fund as low as 100k ( your own cost for just a panel) for cells, cable,cc, and pv. Will someone with this budget purchase a brand new pv? Lets assume used pv last 15yrs, with just 40k, is that not a fantastic deal? Do you Know that 100k can do wonders? The main need of average Nigerians is to charge phones and light a bulb at least. |

Darey00:shey you no see as I use style ask that question, so I don't hurt his feelings. na only am sabi how much e pay. You fit dey see 20 naira BUT na 100 naira e pay. |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by bassdow: 1:11pm On Oct 13, 2025 |
dollarnaira:Funny enough, the 15-years I talk, na underStatement; make e no be like say I too talk because a used Solar panel could last as long as that same 25-years dem dey tell una for brand new Ones. of course, there are lots of USEd solar panels that weren't even used that much before being decommissioned due to one HONEST reason or the other. Personally, as me dey so, if I spend 1-million naira buy battery, I no go easily feel comfortable because any small issue, I go think say something bad don happen - you know why, because I know say nothing dey again should bad thing happen. A lot of people dey pay rent of 500,000 naira yearly, excluding other expenses, yet spending millions on Solar when they could achive same or greather results with half the amount. |

bassdow:My only worry, which is why I keep RANTing here is, if we keep quiet, the Few would Convince the Majority that except you have as much as possible, you can't enjoy stable electricity. Mind you, get them to handle your project and a lot of them wouldn't mind buying USEd items, while claiming they are new. I no get problem with how you make your Money BUT when your method allows the customer / project to suffer, then that's a real issue. There are lots of people who are so scared of going to the market themSelves after going through the threads WHICH ought not be the case. |

Unfaized:Your generator frequency may likely be the culprit. You may need to replace the AVR of your gen. Or adjust the speed to see if you can get between 48Hz to 51Hz. Most petrol generator produces terrible frequencies of about 40Hz or something like 70Hz. These type of frequency are often not compatible to battery charging. |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by FEGEITOK: 2:38pm On Oct 13, 2025 |
mctfopt:I second this. Our generator repairers are notorious for altering the frequency of petrol generators because 1. The noise is too much and 2. Maybe they think it will use less fuel |

I use one and also have a few for sale. It doesn't surge and you can always regulate the consumption. Single phase, 28k dollarnaira: |

mctfopt:Hi. Thanks for your input. Fortunately this issue has been sorted. I lowered charging current to 15 amps and that was the sweet spot. |

| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by mctfopt: 6:58pm On Oct 13, 2025 |
FEGEITOK:You know how it goes. Also given that most devices can still work with horrible frequencies people don't know that this may be an issue. Unfaized:Oh, I see. This was a capacity issue. Glad you've fixed the issue. Totally hate the use of generator ..but I understand people who do. I don't own one. |

bassdow:Nothing like a little. For most plastic companies, it will require you to get a mould which is not cheap and there might be complications if it's not done properly. If you are not assembling a portable/user friendly product(handy) Use metal do your fabrications |

| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by bassdow: 8:23pm On Oct 13, 2025 |
Obnoxious2001:or wood. use wood and polish am e go fine die. As for plastic, yea e go cost you a bit the first time but the moment the mould is ready, it gets cheaper. of course if you have a source who already got that part settled, then it's cheaper. Mind you, I know all about extruders, and their operations. |
