Very funny statistics.

Lagos is not even on the list. Is it that all these accident that happens in lagos are not captured ?

There's no week that at least 2 accidents doesn't happen on lekki epe expressway.

As Lagos, Edo (Benin-Ore) and Anambra are missing on the list, the report is false.

Not a false list, this is just the accidents reported and recorded. This is just a fraction of the accidents happening in Nigeria.

I am equally surprised Lagos isn't on the list considering the huge number of cars in the state, the most infact in the country......however,there isn't much room for speeding in Lagos being a congested city.

Over speeding is the major cause of road accidents in Nigeria and most of those states mentioned have plenty of room for high speed driving
Re: States With Most Road Accident Deaths (Q2 2025) by HighQue007: 3:42pm On Oct 13, 2025
A sensible goverment will work with this statistics and work on how to reduce people dying like chicken but na lie.
Invest in speed camera and impose a stringent fine, be serious on driver licence regulation no be say u go buy motor today but never drive before you go collect licence today. All these na more reason Nigeria dey one of the lowest life expectancy in the world..People dey kpai like chicken

To be fair to Lagos, they have relatively good roads compared to other states and good roads go a long way in preventing accidents

You can do your own statistics and put Lagos as number one.

Lagos can't be there.

One of the advantage of having a terrible road is that it curbs over speeding

I don't expect Lagos on the list because of heavy traffic 🚦 that doesn't all over speeding, hence low accidents

the Benin-Ore you mentioned has been captured in Ogun State. don't think that number is domestically Ogun but most are vehicles cross country through Ogun, being centrally located as the main and only gateway from Lagos to other part of the nation. the major stretch of that Lagos-Benin highway is within Ogun State (I open to being corrected.)

Ironically states with most accidents are states with good roads. Bad roads won't allow drivers to overspeed.

It’s not surprising to see Kaduna and Ogun topping the list. The pattern often reflects seasonal and traffic flow realities more than just driver behavior.

Kaduna has the Abuja–Kaduna expressway, one of the busiest northern routes with constant long-distance travel and heavy-duty vehicles, especially around festive periods. Ogun, on the other hand, hosts major sections of the Lagos–Ibadan and Benin–Ore expressways — both are Nigeria’s busiest highways, linking the southwest to other regions.

During festive seasons or weekends, traffic density on these roads increases sharply, and with it, accident risks. It’s a combination of high vehicle volume, night travels, fatigue, and sometimes poor road discipline.

So rather than blaming states alone, this trend shows where Nigeria’s major traffic corridors — and sadly, accident hotspots — are concentrated.

Bad road wasn't a factor or wasn't tracked
Re: States With Most Road Accident Deaths (Q2 2025) by Efuaye(m): 5:09pm On Oct 13, 2025
You have to consider the number of interstate highways that pass through a particular state and the volume of traffic plying those roads, especially in Ogun and Kaduna states.
