Guys ! Please, if someone have a lot of docs to upload.. is it advisable to use the new or old portal ? |
| Re: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by olasubomy: 10:42pm On Oct 12, 2025 |
Chelseaboy101:The focus should not be on uploading too many documents but on the key ones that, in your judgment, explain your situation. GC Key or IRCC Portal are equally good; they would highlight the documents you must upload after filling in your responses on the application portal based on your profile history and background. I like the IRCC Portal more because it is more seamless than the GC key, where you must fill out certain IMM forms. If you think there is an additional document you need to upload to the ones required by the IRCC system, select the critical ones to be uploaded in the "Additional Document or Client" section. |

| Re: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by Sheron50: 2:10pm On Oct 13, 2025 |
GbengaBigBoy:Sorry to disappoint you, but your agent is clearly lying. You’ve most likely already gotten a response from IRCC either a refusal or even a ban and the agent just isn’t telling you. I’m very sure your file has been decided. Go and face your agent, don’t let them keep deceiving you. |

onile1975:Let’s take them one by one carefully answer your 1. How much to write in “Funds available for your stay” for a 7-day tourist visit There’s no fixed amount, but IRCC expects that your funds are reasonable for your travel purpose and length of stay. A good rule of thumb is: Minimum CAD $150–$200 per day per person + plus airfare and hotel costs. So for a 7-day visit, you can write something like: all in CAD Accommodation 800 Meals & transportation 500 Sightseeing / miscellaneous 300 Return flight 900 Total recommended to show: 2,500–3,000 CAD Write 2,500 CAD or 3,000 CAD in the “Funds available for your stay” field — that’s realistic for a short visit and looks reasonable to IRCC. But let us be realistic here you are coming with a Nigerian passport so you better double the amount of money mentioned and have double the amount I mentioned in your POF and be earning a good amount of income 2. Education/Work history section — last 10 years This part of the IRCC form can be tricky. Here’s how to fix your issue: The section asks for activities in the past 10 years (work, study, unemployment, etc.). If you finished school in 2010, that’s more than 10 years ago, so you don’t need to include it unless you’ve been studying again since then. The form may give an error because of a missing “To” or “From” date or gap in your timeline. Here is what to do: 1. Only list activities from 2015 to 2025 (last 10 years). If you were working during that time, list your jobs. If there were gaps, write “Unemployed” or “Self-employed” with dates — do not leave gaps. 2. If the form still gives an error when you try to move forward: Double-check that all date fields are filled correctly (YYYY-MM format). Make sure there are no overlapping or missing months. Do not include entries older than 10 years (that sometimes causes validation errors). |

GbengaBigBoy:From April 2024 to October 2025 is 18 months — your agent doesn’t want to tell you the truth. Get your GCMS notes and find out what’s really happening. In 95% of the cases I’ve seen, it’s usually a 5-year ban that the agent is trying to hide from you. |

Hi House, Quick question, I recently applied for visiting visa for my parents, my brother in Canada & my father - a civil servant- would be the one sponsoring the trip. My father has his savings in PiggyBank Flex Wallet and the piggybank statement and my brother's Canadian bank account statement is what we submitted. Would this be sufficient for them or does IRCC not recognise PiggyBank statement? |
| Re: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by Ashirioluwa: 4:18pm On Oct 15, 2025 |
Flixvevo:You will need to use a PDF document compressor to reduce the size of the file. You can use Adobe if you have it or go online and look for a free PDF document compressor.I normally use ilovepdf to compress my documents. https://www.ilovepdf.com/ |

TRV for my baby. (Father and mother have TRV- before he was born). Application submission: August 23rd, 2025 Biometrics: Not applicable PPR: September 24th, 2025 Validity: expiration of passport. First application in July was refused for lack of assets and financial capability (must be AI- because I answered 0 CAD in how much you are spending personally for the trip). Success to everyone. |

| Re: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by Buchim979: 9:49pm On Oct 15, 2025 |
Nickelodeon93:Yes, you will also need to upload your own bank statement even if you are been financially sponsored. It helps you show ties to your home country - you need to show that you are working or schooling. |

Guys, what is the maximum processing time for visitors visa passport stamping. We submitted my wife's parents passport for visa stamping on October 8, her mom's passport was ready for collection since October 10 but the father's passport is still under processing till date. I don't know if the delay was because he was exempted from biometrics (due to his age -above 80). We've called their helpline and the response was that the passport was still under processing. Tickets has been purchased for their journey next weekend. Anyone been in similar situation? Advise pls |

Nickelodeon93:Your aunt inviting you to Canada is good, but in my opinion, it will not really help your case because your aunt likely doesn’t share the same surname as you and she’s not a direct family member like a parent or sibling. So, even if she has $20,000 USD or $20 million, it doesn’t make much difference — in fact, it can make it look like you’re coming with the intention to seek asylum. IRCC evaluates each applicant individually, based on their own situation. Let me explain how IRCC thinks: 1. Identity & Background You’re applying with a Nigerian passport, which unfortunately faces a higher chance of rejection by default. Someone from countries like Botswana, Cape Verde, or even the Central African Republic might have a slightly better approval rate by comparison. 2. Financial Capacity (Proof of Funds / Income Stability) They’ll check if you truly have the money you claim and whether it aligns with your personal income and occupation. The key question is can you afford the trip on your own? This helps them determine if you’re less likely to seek asylum once in Canada. 3. Education, Work Experience, and Skills What do you do for a living? Does your job and income make sense for someone applying for a Canadian trip or visit? 4. Genuineness of Relationships (for family or spousal cases) They’ll assess how genuine your relationship with your aunt is. Since she’s not an immediate family member, that may not carry much weight. They’ll also consider whether you have strong family ties—like a spouse or children—that would make you likely to return home. 5. Intent and Purpose This is where many people fail, especially if their finances don’t support their stated purpose. IRCC checks if your intentions match your visa type: Visitor Visa: Will you return home after your visit? Study Permit: Are you a genuine student with a clear educational plan? Work Permit: Is the job offer genuine? Permanent Residence: Do you plan to settle and contribute long-term? They look for consistency between what you say and what your documents show. and they very very very good at what they do In my opinion, Stage 2 (Financial Capacity) and Stage 5 (Intent & Purpose) are the most critical—and where most rejections happen. So, in your case, IRCC will assess you individually. Yes, your aunt can send an invitation, but you must show your own proof of funds (POF) to strengthen your application. And as for proof of family ties through traditional marriage — do you have pictures, or do you have a child together? Does your local government have any record? It’s very hard to prove a traditional marriage without a court wedding in Nigeria, because that usually involves a lot of paperwork. For example, you and your spouse can swear a joint affidavit before a notary public or commissioner of oaths — you can get a lawyer to help you with that. but IMO its a waste of time as IRCC will not take it serious as proof of family tie as traditional marriage certificate will not be taken seriosuly |

osayuwamwen:The employer is supposed to cover LMIA/work-visa costs — you shouldn’t pay. Did you even apply or interview for the job? If you didn’t, and someone is asking for ₦10m, it’s a scam. People have paid crazy amounts for LMIA jobs (even up to $40,000 CAD) which are crazy but what do I know about anything— don’t fall for it. Again You need to ask the Facebook agent: 1. Who is the employer? 2. What is the LMIA number? (It’s a 7‑digit number, usually starting with an 8.) 3. Is the LMIA for an open work permit or a closed work permit? 4. What is the LMIA’s duration? Currently, it must be for 6 months, as the Government has stopped issuing 1‑year LMIA approvals for certain jobs. If the agent lies or ignores these questions, that’s an immediate red flag. Process of obtaining work visa Employer applies for LMIA ➔ Gets LMIA ➔ You apply and interview for job ➔ get JOb offer ➔ Gives LMIA + Job Offer to You ➔ your work Apply for a work Permit ➔ IRCC Approves ➔ You Get the 6 months work Permit ➔ Travel and Begin Working in Canada At no stage do you pay money for work visa.....paying for any visa is illegal |
