Plateau killing: Pastor reveals how soldiers sought permission from Fulani attackers to evacuate corpses of his members

A Jos, Plateau State-based Pastor has revealed how soldiers contacted to evacuate corpses of church members who slaughtered by Fulani militias had to seek permission from the same people before they could move in to remove the dead bodies.

The Pastor who made the stunning revelation in a video shared on Facebook on Monday, said the militants had attacked the Dong community in Jos North Local Government Area of the state where they killed several people including a woman and her child who had gone to the area on a condolence visit.

According to the Pastor, since they could not go into the enclave to retrieve the courses for burial, they had to contact the military to help them.

He explained further that when the soldiers came, they had to call the militants to seek permission to go into the community to retrieve the bodies and were given only 10 minutes to do so.

This is what the Pastor said in the video:
“When they killed our members in Dong, there was a woman and her child who came for a condolence visit.

“They were attacked and killed by Fulani militants. There was also one of our young men who had earlier been killed by the same militants.

“We were able to contact soldiers and when they came, there was a Fulani house close by but we were surprised that as we were going to remove the corpses, the soldiers said they wanted to call and talk to the Fulani people to take permission before they could move in and evacuate the dead bodies.

“In my presence, they called the Fulani people and they responded that they gave the soldiers 10 minutes to go in and take the corpses. They gave the soldiers 10 minutes only. We were at the burial ground waiting for the corpses to bury them.

“Even when they got to the place, the soldiers were telling our people to be fast as they had only 10 minutes to evacuate the bodies.

“When they managed to bring the corpses, the soldiers left immediately. We did not know whether they left us to be killed by the attackers or what? But by the grace of God, we did the burial and went back to our various homes.”

Without confronting these internal failures, the Nigerian military’s efforts will remain reactive, fragmented, and ultimately unsustainable against ideologically driven insurgents.

Your bias and prejudice will always blind you to what is obvious thus precluding emotional people like you from being part of the solution for Nigeria.

Militaries, even the mightiest, find it difficult to defeat insurgents whose motivation is ideological. Worse still in the case of Nigeria where the military is compromise.

What led to the first ever call for separation and eventual civil war is similar in nature to what some Fulanis are perpetrating today, wasting innocent lives of Nigerians for no reason.
