Yoruba Groups Sound Clear Warning: “ Do Not Sabotage Igbo Presidency In 2027 by 1nice(op): 11:50am On Oct 14, 2025
In a powerful and unprecedented move, a coalition of prominent Yoruba socio-cultural organizations has issued a bold and unequivocal statement warning against any attempt by Yoruba individuals or political actors to undermine the potential emergence of an Igbo presidency in the 2027 general elections.

Speaking at a joint press conference held in Ibadan on Sunday, the Yoruba Leadership Forum (YLF), alongside other influential grassroots and pan-Yoruba groups, emphasized the importance of justice, equity, and unity in Nigeria’s democratic evolution.

"We are watching, and history is watching," said Chief Bayo Alade, a respected elder statesman and convener of the forum. "The Yoruba nation will not be used as a tool to frustrate the legitimate aspiration of the Igbo people in 2027. We warn — respectfully but firmly — any Yoruba sons or daughters attempting to sabotage this movement: there will be consequences."

The coalition pointed to the historic sacrifices and resilience of the South-East, stating that it is now morally and politically imperative for Nigeria to embrace inclusivity at the highest level of governance.

"The road to justice cannot be one-sided. Our brothers and sisters from the South-East have waited long enough. If Nigeria is to thrive, then fairness must no longer be postponed," declared Mrs. Funmi Adeyemi, a youth leader and policy advocate present at the event.

The groups stressed that the Yoruba and Igbo people, though culturally distinct, share a common destiny of greatness in Nigeria’s future. Rather than division, they called for a strategic alliance of southern unity — a South-South-East-West handshake across the Niger — to ensure the emergence of a truly representative presidency in 2027.

The leaders didn’t mince words when they said that any Yoruba person who chooses political greed over the greater good will be held accountable by the people and by history.

"We are not here to pick fights, but to call for clarity of purpose. If the North has had its turn, and the West has had its turn, then the East must also have its day under the sun. This is the essence of true federalism," said Professor Dapo Akanji, a political analyst and one of the speakers.

Social media has since erupted with praise for the coalition’s courageous stance, with hashtags like #Justice2027 and #YorubaIgboUnity trending across platforms.

The statement ends with a call to action for all Yoruba people — from the grassroots to the elite — to stand for equity and resist any clandestine plots that may derail the hopes of an inclusive and united Nigeria.

"The time has come for courage, not compromise. Let no Yoruba hand be found working against an Igbo presidency in 2027. Those who try will answer — not just to us — but to generations yet unborn."

Can’t really say why this funny, but it’s just funny.

Which planet do these Yoruba groups reside? Cos I am sure it is not Earth.

With reality staring in the face of all, they still talking about sabotage? 😄😀😄

How I wish SE can mobilise enough before 2039, sadly SS have outsmarted them and left them with their condensed support for Peter Obi who doesn't have the record to govern Nigeria
