ExpertNLer:Please any update on operators. No feedback since after the interview. It's a month plus since the interview. I asked other guys that did they said no update. Any idea when we should expect feedback? |

Honestly there is no fixed timeline, I think wells engineer got background check emails like 2 or 3 months after interview. So until someone who did interview comes and says they've received background check email. Then there's no progression on that front |

Interview? Hmmm, this is Q4 and more than 12 months since this recruitment started. This has to be the longest recruitment with fewer to no updates on what's truly happening. ExpertNLer: |

LOL longest interview? go and ask people who participated in NLNG 2013 recruitment . It spanned 4 years Alaprom: |
| Re: 2024 Chevron Nigeria Experienced Professional Recruitment by smartkester(m): 8:33pm On Oct 10, 2025 |
ExpertNLer:that recruitment had issues that was why it took so long. NLNG recruitment doesn't take more than 6 months now. They opened GT two years ago and completed it same year. There's an ongoing GT recruitment again this year likely to be completed this year or early next year. What I'm saying in essence, something is wrong with this Chevron recruitment. One of my class mate already resumed as a Petroleum Engineer with Chevron few months ago. |

smartkester:. That your guy did background test ask him what they required |
| Re: 2024 Chevron Nigeria Experienced Professional Recruitment by smartkester(m): 2:17pm On Oct 11, 2025 |
Jeffery4uall:They used the educational documents he submitted for background test and if you claim to have work experience they asked for contact of the former place you worked. They won't give you feedback on anything they find in your background test |

Is this one recruitment or mockery? Imagine if one had zeal to work here, with the way they are treating us even before employment, this can really kill the passion in even the most passionate ones amongst us. For H sake, more than a year and recruitment is not yet concluded. This made me drop the ball for Chevron honestly. Used to respect them a lot, not so much lately |

Where Nigerian Managers are armed with local content law, you are in for different surprises. Are you sure people haven't resumed yet? If they can cancel a test and order a retake. How are you sure people haven't not resumed. seriousbaby: |

upengineer:Please can you explain how cancelling and ordering the retake of a test relate to people having already resumed. |

Like I am so frustrated, I can't even whyne you guys. I used some of the last cash I had to rent an apartment in Lagos after I got the background check mail about 4 months ago. House is wasting, can't seem to concentrate because every other day I am not sure if resigning from my previous job so early was the right choice. Honestly, I am down because of this bullcrap of a recruitment. I just need to vent. |
| Re: 2024 Chevron Nigeria Experienced Professional Recruitment by mrlee2: 7:58pm On Oct 14, 2025 |
Relax, if you could have waited for over a year now, give it a few more months, say till January. If you got background checks, you'll most likely hear from them soon, except something went wrong with your checks. But tbh, you took a huge gamble on this by resigning and taking an apartment in Lagos. I hope this works out for you in the end. Shalom! seriousbaby: |

So sorry to hear, I think no one knows what's truly happening. Best guess is the impact of the reorganization and I don't want to believe so because they should have sized their staff strength before putting out jobs for people to apply. I think someone mentioned some people have done medicals. Have you done medicals for your role? Though, you took a big risk to resign from your current role. All same, this delay doesn't put Chevron in good light publicly. seriousbaby: |
| Re: 2024 Chevron Nigeria Experienced Professional Recruitment by seriousbaby(m): 11:11pm On Oct 14, 2025 |
Thanks @mrlee and @Alaprom. I appreciate your support. Yeah, I took a gamble quitting my job, but it was a calculated gamble at the time. They were going to downsize at my work place and I decided I could take one for the team. It is all good though, I got a decent severance package and I kept someone's neck off the chopping block. It is just that this got me really worried honestly, no comms, no reason as to why the delay, just hope. And hope is a currency that burns fast when there is no fuel to keep it alive. I guess another issue is I am not sure what to do. I don't put in 100% applying for new jobs because, well Chevron. I can't start working and 2 months in, leave for new place. It goes against what I stand for. Anyways, thank you both for making me feel heard. I wish they could just be more transparent. I need that closure for real |

seriousbaby:Which role did you applied for? Because the last update I had, I heard senior facility engineers and wells have done their medicals. I don’t know of any other department though…. So which is yours? |
| Re: 2024 Chevron Nigeria Experienced Professional Recruitment by pneumatikos: 11:46pm On Oct 14, 2025 |
seriousbaby:Honestly the waiting period is something else. It's over a year and recruitment is still not concluded. I did interview almost two months ago and nothing has been said about it. I reached out to several guys too who did same interview for the operator position they said nothing has been heard. This is not ideal for an IOC like Chevron. They should have planned this recruitment better. |

"Yes, Chevron Nigeria is undergoing a restructuring, which includes global initiatives to centralize operations and cut costs by reducing its workforce by up to 20% globally by the end of 2026. This is part of a broader effort to increase efficiency and maintain competitiveness in the current business environment, with the goal of centralizing certain business units to allow for quicker rollout of innovations across different regions, as seen in the upstream division. Global restructuring: Chevron is reducing its global workforce by 15% to 20% by the end of 2026. Centralization: The company is centralizing operations, for example, by reducing the number of upstream business units to streamline decision-making and share best practices more quickly. Job impact: This restructuring has already led to job cuts in some past incidents, such as a 25% cut in the Nigerian workforce in 2020, although the current plan has a different projected impact. Engagement: Chevron states that it is engaging with its workforce and key stakeholders, such as employee unions, as it implements these changes. " Google AI Search The above may be the reason why Chevron has paused the recruitment. I think it is best if everyone moves on. If it comes later, you can always reassess if it is still worth it. |

seriousbaby:Hi seriousbaby, I feel for you and I sympathize with you. However, the truth is that nobody can say they’ve bagged this chevron opportunity yet. So the earlier you start treating it as such the better. Apply for other jobs, take on other opportunities. You can’t be waiting for Chevron. I won’t be surprised if they take a whole other year to call some people for resumption, so why wait for them? |

Wow, I am famous here now 🎉. I really appreciate you guys fam. Honestly, all the responses here made me feel heard, and like I am not alone. I appreciate guys! Yeah, for the ones that pointed out I took a big risk getting an apartment, honestly you are right. That was an impulsive decision I didn't think through at the time. I also appreciate the advice on not waiting on Chevy forever. I just need to put myself together and start job hunting with real zeal again. Kind of sad, but reality is reality. I hope this works out by the way. I would keep you guys posted if/when Chevron decides to respond. Thanks guys ✌️ |
