But as per the Islamic law I am aware of, one person cannot forgive their relative's killer on behalf of others. All the heirs of the deceased must unanimously agree for the forgiveness to be valid.

That settles it. If the family of the late husband pardon her then there is no cause for alarm as she will be alive to take care of their grandchildren. They should have sought their consent before the decision to pardon her.

I'm no Obidient, or tinubu or atiku supporter

The President should not have pardoned this woman. She is a cold blooded murderer. It sends a message, that all you got to do is kill someone and if you are a good boy or girl in prision, you get forgiven and let out.

Plus are the kids going to accept their dad's murderer back into their lives...especially when they get old enough? What if she harms them too?

Forget politics, this does not sound right.

Murder is criminal offense; it is not a case of civil litigation and so the injury is not wholly on the family but the state. Her punishment in the first place was an act of deterrence not compensation or appeasement to the family. This is why the government did not (and is not expected) to seek the approval of the family before granting the pardon. The crux of the natter is that the clemency will actually embolden other criminals
