Reference:
Listening to the SuperSports presenters commenting on the role of the PSL in the first south African team to qualify for the world cup, they did acknowledge what I have been saying.

They praised the ORGANISERS and MANAGEMENT of the PSL. That is the key. It is not just about using local players or not. What is the quality of the league, the management of onshore football in Nigeria.

Remember that before the national team became continental contenders their clubsides have been featuring at the business end of CAF championships for a while.

So it is a logical step.
1. Develop your clubs.
2. Have enough quality clubs to develop the league.
3. And the quality league will deliver quality national team materials to qualify for international tourneys with ease.

We need a total overhaul of the football administration in this country and to me it starts from the leadership recruitment process. It is too narrow, too exclusive and must be taken apart.
This is just it, when footballing nations are being ranked the quality of each nations league still remains the biggest criteria, the NFF and the leadership of the nation is too corrupt to ever fix these issues. Beautiful analysis.

They will deduct points each team gets from the particular team that is lowest in their respective group.

For example Nigeria end with 17 points but 2 points was removed from 17 points because Nigeria only get 2 points from the lowest team in Nigeria group Zimbabwe.

So others that are having 22 points, 19 points, those teams got 6 points from the lowest team in their group therefore a team that has 19 points after removing 6 points they go back to 13 points. Nigeria own 15 points is higher.
South Africa draw with Zimbabwe might be a calculated move. If they had won that match, 6 point would've been deducted from them, and they would have dropped below qualification line.

Match fixing is real in football.

Nigeria made it to the playoff.

How sure are you that Nigeria will qualify for the world cup? Playoff isn't qualification

Nope not possible the deduction only applies to second placed teams

My prediction for play off with about 80 % certainty
Nigeria vs Gabon . Cameron Vs. DR Congo. ----------Semi final

Winnrer of Semis plays in a final on November 16 , 2025 to determine African representative.

There are about 4 more possibilities, If Gabon gets replaced with Ivory coast and/or DRC fail to win today. Ivorycoast and/or Burkinafaso are in the wings
As Nigeria, Cameron, DRC and GAbon are ranked from tbest to worst by FIFA as of today in that order, it wont change significantly in some days from now.. The highest ranked team plays the lowest ranked , The 2nd highest plays the 3rd highest ranked team based on CAF rules

The CAF winner plays the final to determine the final spot that will now start another round of matches with other countries like a mini world cup with other best loosers from different federation.

The playoff is a tough process, and may end up as an emotional roller coaster. We really messed up, but it is not over.

No mind am. He is the only one carrying the fake news

We base our calculations on points deducted already not on points they all have without deduction of points obtained from the lowest team in each group.

Currently DR Congo have 13 points after their points deduction. If they win their remaining game later today, they will have 16 points and push Nigeria down to 4th position and Nigeria will push out Burkina Faso out of the final spot because Nigeria has same point with Burkina Faso but better Nigeria have better goal difference than Burkina Faso on the table.
Lukuluku69:
2 Points we got from the Zimbabwe games will be deducted too.
Thanks for the clarification guys.

Bolivia cannot defeat Nigerian.
That's it oooooo.

I am more concerned about these African teams that made it to the play offs. Nigeria just need to qualify from Africa.

From what I saw, if Nigeria qualifies for the play off out of Africa zone. Our ranking in the world will help us when we face those from other continents.

Two slots is remaining for the world Cup from all those teams coming from the various continent. If Nigeria qualify from Africa, they are expected to compete with 5 teams from other continents making 6 teams in total to be divided into two groups of 3.

If Nigeria is ranked higher than all other teams, it means Nigeria will be seeded head of a group e.g.

Nigeria
Bolivia
Tahiti

Bolivia will first play Tahiti. Any team that wins between the two will now face Nigeria in the final to get one of the two tickets available for the six teams. Same will happen in the other group

If South Africa won the game against Zimbabwe, they will not be deducted points. They will only deduct points from South Africa if they finish second in the group but since they finish first no need for point deduction

If Dr Congo win they will have maximum of 16 points and push Nigeria back to number 4 on that second best table. Nigeria will now push Burkina Faso out because that goal number 4 by Nigeria today made Nigeria have a goal difference of +7 and Burkina Faso have a goal difference of +6. Because Nigeria have more goals than Burkina Faso that is the simple reason that made us enter the playoff.
Interesting

Nigeria must learn from South Africa and stop using overseas based players.
Until we develop and spice our Players from our local league and only sprinkle two or three extremely good foreign-based with them, we will simply be failing and failing.
And even more important, we need to clean-up the Football federation and remove all those crooks that former FIFA Head Blatter planted there.

Just keep quiet and celebrate your win, bafana bafana did well throughout the qualifying tournament though.

Following the new CAF rule regarding Eritrea's withdrawal from the World Cup qualifiers, which states that points earned against the last-placed team will be removed when ranking second-placed teams, here is how Group C, which Nigeria belongs to, is affected as of October 14, 2025:
The CAF and FIFA are considering removing the points earned against the last-placed team in each group to address the imbalance caused by Eritrea's withdrawal from Group E. If this rule is applied to Group C, and Zimbabwe is considered the bottom team, Nigeria would lose 2 points, South Africa would lose 4 points, and Benin would lose 4 points
Here are the revised Group C standings based on this rule:
Rank Team Points
1 Benin 13
2 Nigeria 12
3 South Africa 11
