If CAF rule of removing points accrued from bottom teams stand... South Africa Will be replaced top of table by Nigeria.

South Africa 4 points deducted (for beating Zimbabwe) 18 - 4 = 14 points.

Nigeria 2 points deducted (2 draws against Zimbabwe) 17 - 2 = 15 points.

Let's see what happens about the CAF memo...🚶🏿‍♂️

Loooool, if they qualify from Africa they will complete the process by March next year. So while others are playing Friendly matches to prepare for the world Cup in March 2026, Nigeria will be battling to qualify in USA or Mexico where the intercontinental winners to battle.

If you ask me thats the best possible way to start the tournament.

I am more concerned about these African teams that made it to the play offs. Nigeria just need to qualify from Africa.

From what I saw, if Nigeria qualifies for the play off out of Africa zone. Our ranking in the world will help us when we face those from other continents.

Two slots is remaining for the world Cup from all those teams coming from the various continent. If Nigeria qualify from Africa, they are expected to compete with 5 teams from other continents making 6 teams in total to be divided into two groups of 3.

If Nigeria is ranked higher than all other teams, it means Nigeria will be seeded head of a group e.g.

Nigeria
Bolivia
Tahiti

Bolivia will first play Tahiti. Any team that wins between the two will now face Nigeria in the final to get one of the two tickets available for the six teams. Same will happen in the other group

Good analysis. New Caledonia is in the play-offs from the Oceanian confederation, not Tahiti

South Africa draw with Zimbabwe might be a calculated move. If they had won that match, 6 point would've been deducted from them, and they would have dropped below qualification line.

Match fixing is real in football.

If they had won they would've had 17points and then with today's win, 20points. They would lead the group and the deductions wont affect them. You know the deductions only affect the 2nd placed teams right?

The technical crew really did their job well today. That they celebrated that 4th goal really showed they practically know that they need to get into that play off.

This is how CAF calculated the playoff teams.

Very controversial and dubious rule by CAF.
If the top teans all played the weakest teams in each group and their points from the matches are added, why deduct the points from the second placed teams?.
This system must be dropped immediately. Let all teams qualify by merit

It seems people don't know that there will be two rounds of play offs.

The team that qualifies from the 4 would still go for another play off with teams from South America, Asia,and Oceania.

It is not a straight play off to World Cup oohh..

It's even a good training ground for super eagles to play well enough together so they will do well in the world cup once qualified
