Its not totally FIFA's fault but lack of adequate infrastructure in Africa. Many of those west African countries played their qualifiers in Morocco or ivory Coast. Those in central Africa played in South Africa. Only a handful Africa countries played on their turf. So u can blame FIFA but poor African countries lack of facilities.

Go to Europe, many of those small countries like andora, Moldova, and Gibaltra all play on their home turf. It's so shameful for Africa
That is not what I am saying.

What I really mean is that it is unfair to have teams in the same group share a host country.
There are other southern African countries outside our group that could have hosted Zim and Les. They could play in Angola for instance .

I bet if Benin played their home matches in Nigeria there would be complaints from federations such as SAFA.

So looking at the FIFA rankings

Nigeria - 45 or so
Cameroon - 52
Gabon - 79
Congo Dr - 133
Burkina Faso - 64

So we meet Congo or Gabon in the semis as we seem to be the highest ranked team. And probably meet Cameroon in the final. Then we go for the intercontinental playoffs. Surely we would be the highest ranked team there. Bolivia is ranked 77.
And you believe say Naija go easily beat DRC and Burkina Faso huh

Nigeria qualified for the playoffs. Nigeria will need to win three more matches to qualify for the world cup. The journey still long.

You must have picked the wrong "Congo" DR Congo is not ranked 133, they are 66 currently. There is Congo brazaville, which i suspect you think is DR Congo.

Yeah thanks for pointing that out. DRC is actually ranked 60 according to FIFA website.

Thanks for the update.

I was trying hard to remember but it skipped my mind.
No worries.

The Inter-confederation games should be between;

One team from CAF

Either UAE or Iraq/Saudi Arabia from the Asian Confederation

Bolivia from CONMEBOL

New Caledonia from OFC

Jamaica and Costa Rica from CONCACAF

You are totally right .

It is the fault of the Morons running our football. They could have fought against this and I am sure the whole world will agree with them.

The mess we are in could be traced to the era of Amaju Picnic. The id*0t was only interested in collecting his own 250k USD monthly from FIFA.

No wonder he was almost weeping when he was schemed out.

Good four points would stil be minus from South Africa that they got from Zimbabwe, and Benin Republic 🇧🇯 to also lose 4 points gotten from Zimbabwe 🇿🇼 respectively, while Nigeria Super Eagles wil only lose just two points.

The Deductions are a necessity due to the Eritrea 🇪🇷 Pulling out from the qualifier, meaning all the last teams from African world cup qualifier points won't count.

Okay let me break it down,
This is the Revised Group C standings:
1. Benin – 13 points
2. Nigeria – 12 points
3. South Africa – 11 points

So what this means is that, Nigeria could end up with 15 points in group C behind South Africa and could qualify for the playoffs as the likes of Cameroon with 18points could lose 6points after defeating bottom placed Eswatini over two legs. Gabon also on 20points will also lose 6 points to drop to 14points after beating bottom placed Seychelles over two legs.

So at the end of the day, Nigeria will surely emerge as one of the best placed best losers if we win our last matche against Benin Republic.

We can also qualify automatically if South Africa slips against Rwanda

But Irrespective of the outcome of South Africa game against Rwanda 🇷🇼, Nigeria 🇳🇬 only need to beat the Squirrel of Benin 🇧🇯 in uyo on Tuesday and wait for FIFA and CAF ruling due to Eritrea withdrawal.

Without being pessimistic, no African team will scale thru the huddle of the intercontinental team.

This is the problem with many Naija people — they still haven’t learned that underestimating your opponent is done at your own risk. They start off by taking their opponents lightly at the beginning of a competition. Then, toward the end, they’re suddenly pulling out calculators, trying to figure out their team’s chances of advancing to the next stage — only to realize that their fate now depends on an unknown country like Lesotho beating a powerhouse like Brazil by at least three goals.

Nigeria is out . We are 7th on the table of second placed teams
from the table you showed you can see that niger played only 8 matches while others played 10 matches because eritrea withdraw? to access the top 4 second placed team the point the second place team got from the least place team will be removed. nigeria drew home and away with with zimbabwe so subract 2 point. burkinafaso and cameroon all have 15 points nigeria has one more goal difference than burkinafaso and cameroon has more goal difference than nigeria. Dr congo is currently winning so16 points and gabon currently 17 point if they win today then 19 point. so the actual ranking is gabon -> dr congo -> cameroon -> nigeria

So Nigeria needs Eritrea to pull out just to smell the World Cup? 😭 If that’s the new strategy, they should start sending thank-you cards instead of training. Real teams qualify — the rest wait for miracles and math.

yes nigeria is in the africa playoff we need to win that playoff and then also be 1 of the two teams that win the intercontinental playoffs. i believe the most difficult part would be winning the african playoffs which is doable

With all that long write-up just to show how complicated Nigeria’s “road” to the World Cup is, you still think they deserve to be there? 😂

Final whistle!

Republique du Benin you fall hand sha.. I was rooting for you to qualify for your first ever world cup. Maybe you would have gone far the way Cameroon, Senegal and Ghana did as debutants. All the best in 2030 world cup qualifiers.

Super eagles na now your work just start.

Eric Chelle deserves his flowers sha.. from 3 points to 17 points, took us from the pit ex-super eagles players turned coach threw us in. Why people are calling him clueless coach is beyond me!
The coach did well. Troost Ekong is the one who put us in this predicament with his defensive errors that caused unwanted goals against us in some of the important matches. His defensive errors took away 6 points from us. Inconsistent set of players.

Funny how you say “stop being sympathetic,” yet some Nigerians were out there begging that small Rwanda to beat powerhouse South Africa just to keep their World Cup hopes alive. 😏

Ekong should not start any match again . He should serve in an advisory role . He passed his prime .
If not for his errors we should have defeated Zimbabwe. That match lead us to this play off
