Good day house. I am new here and have been following the thread for some time now. I am about starting my PR journey and I have a Bachelor's Degree and a PGDE. Do I need to evaluate the both certificates or I can evaluate just the PGDE as it is higher than the Bachelor's degree?
Evaluate both

Sending a webform to withdraw isn’t final , IRCC must first confirm it.
You can still retract the request before they act on it.Send another webform right away stating you don’t want to withdraw and include your application number for clarity.
Thank you sir for your response. When you said ircc must first confirm it, you mean send me a response before they can fully confirm the withdrawal/cancellation, right?

For those who recently made payment for application fee and RPRF please what payment platform did you use? I don't want to use chipper cash.

Hi guys, thanks for all you do here. I've been a long time follower of this thread.

I just received a message from IRCC questioning two major things on my family application..
First: asked to address my wife(primary applicant) to clarify the profession on our marriage certificate, the profession doesn't correlate with her NOC, and it didn't cross our eyes since we had been married for a while now.

Secondly: we were asked to clarify the NOC of our previous profile. We'd opened a profile for trade briefly last year and deleted then re-entered for healthcare this year. The VO asked why we never mention this new foreign experience in the previous interest

Please, how can we carefully address these concerns
This NOC issue can lead to a 5 year ban if not addressed properly!!

Please need some help

As a student in Canada, can I apply for express entry if I have qualification to get enough point depending on my foreign profile, or do I have to wait till I'm done?

You can apply as soon as possible — it’s always good to be in the Express Entry pool. Just make sure that whatever information you provide to IRCC matches what you used for your student visa

Hello everyone! Please who has an idea if Saskatchewan has done any PNP draws lately? I've been in their PNP pool since December last year and nothing yet up till now. Minimum score to qualify for their PNP was 60 and I got 65. It's still the only PNP route that seems easy to get because other provinces are demanding job offers. Please I would need more information if anyone has in this regards

Good evening guys,
I graduated recently from the university. But I’m already into Software development with 5 years experience with no official documentation. Mind you, Software engineering is completely different from what I studied in the university. I only have ALX SE certificate. What route is best? I have a sibling who’s a citizen, how can he help?
Can I use NYSC 1 year as experience or is it ok without experience?

As of now, the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP) is not holding draws because of a reduction in its nomination allocation by the federal government. You will have to explore other options available. (Learn French or check the other skills if you have work experience to match)

Good morning! 🙏 And congratulations to your wife — that’s a great position to be in.

so to answer your question here is it 👇

1. Proof of Funds (PoF) for Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) – Non-Express Entry

For most employer-driven AAIP streams (like the Alberta Opportunity Stream or Rural Renewal Stream), proof of funds is not required if:

The applicant is already working in Alberta, and
Has a valid job offer or is currently employed by an Alberta employer.

So once your wife enters Canada on a valid work permit and starts her job with Alberta Health Services, she won’t need to show separate proof of funds when applying for PR under that stream.

BUT

2. If She Applies Before Entering Canada

If she submits her PR application before arriving and before starting work, IRCC may request proof that she can support herself and any dependents.
But once she’s employed in Alberta, her job income serves as her financial support evidence.

so to cut the long story short

Proof of Funds Needed?
She is already in Alberta and working on valid work permit No
She is outside Canada and not yet working Yes (until she starts the job)

keep in mind

When she applies for PR, she should dinclude her job offer letter, employment contract, and pay stubs (if available) — these show she’s self-sufficient and remove the need for PoF.

I did the same when applying for PR. I was already working for a bank in Canada, and at the time I didn’t need to show the full proof of funds. I think the required amount was around $13K, but I only had $5K because I had just bought my 2nd car in Canada, which took most of my savings at that time back in 2020

I uploaded my six months’ pay stubs, tax return, employment letter, and rental agreement in the proof of funds section—all in one file

She applies for PR before traveling to Alberta or before starting work ✅ Yes (must show funds for family)
She enters Alberta, starts working for Alberta Health Services, then applies for PR (family of 5) ❌ No

IMO, it’s good for her to have some money in her account — not as much as someone applying from outside Canada, but a small amount is still important.

Keep all employment documents safe (job offer, pay slips, work permit copy, nomination certificate). Once she’s settled and has been working for a few months, her PR application will be much stronger — and you’ll all be covered under her status.

Remember your inclusion as the husband.

When she applies for PR:

She will be the principal applicant.

You and your three children will be listed as dependents.

You will not need to show a separate Proof of Funds (PoF) — her employment in Alberta will cover the family.

In the PoF section, she can include her job offer, pay slips, work permit copy, and nomination certificate together with a small amount of savings in her bank account (not a large sum, since she’s already in Canada and employed).

Oh boy, the case is really fragile. I suggest you talk to a licensed immigration consultant. I’m not a licensed immigration consultant, but I always share my opinion on cases like this. https://register.college-ic.ca/Public-Register-EN/RCIC_Search.aspx

So, if I were doing this, here’s how I would do it:

Keep your story simple, consistent, and truthful — no need to over-explain.

Make sure dates (e.g., marriage, communication, travel) match across forms and documents.

Avoid any missing information on children’s birth certificates — it’s okay if their surname is different; just explain that they are from her first marriage and are her dependents.

A. Documents to Prove a Genuine Relationship / Marriage

IRCC looks for proof that your marriage or relationship is real, not just for immigration purposes.
Here’s what you can include — the more evidence, the better:

Core (Legal) Documents
1. Marriage certificate (when available — in your case, after the court wedding in 2026).
2. For now:
Traditional marriage or bride price receipt
Affidavit of marriage/customary union signed by elders or witnesses.
Photos from the traditional ceremony or family events.

Relationship History Proof

3. Communication proof — WhatsApp, call logs, social media messages (only a few pages, not everything).
4. Money transfer or joint financial support — e.g., if you send her or the children money regularly.
5. Shared plans and documents — e.g., conversations about the kids, travel plans, your names together on any document (rental, bills, etc.).
6. Photos together — from visits, family events, with children, with relatives.

Family Connection Proof

7. Birth certificates of the children — clearly showing their mother’s name.
8. Marriage affidavit or statement explaining your role as stepfather and your relationship with them.

All these together show you live as a genuine family— not a paper marriage.

B About the Stepchildren (Your Wife’s Children from Her Late Husband)

This is a very common and well-understood situation by IRCC.
Here’s how to handle it properly

Step 1: Relationship to the Children

Your wife will list them as her dependent children in her work permit and PR application.
Their father is deceased — so your wife has sole custody (she should have a death certificate of her late husband).
IRCC will not ask for consent from a deceased parent once the death certificate is provided.

Step 2: Your Relationship as Stepfather

When she applies for PR and includes you:
You will be listed as her spouse (husband),
The children will be listed as her dependents,
And IRCC will automatically recognize them as your stepchildren.

You don’t need to adopt them formally, unless you choose to later for personal reasons — but for immigration, stepchild status is enough but the issue is extablishing a good strong case that its not a paper marriage

C Before the Court Wedding (Right Now)

Because you’ve only done the bride price (customary marriage) so far, that’s still recognized under IRCC rules as long as it is legal and valid in your culture

You should prepare:

A Letter of Explanation (simple one-page) stating:

You both performed a traditional marriage according to local custom,
Bride price was paid,
You plan to complete the court registration in February 2026,
You have been living as a couple and taking care of the children together.

Attach:
Photos of the traditional ceremony, Not too much hahahah please
Affidavit of customary marriage,
Proof of ongoing relationship (as listed above).

IRCC will accept this as a genuine spousal relationship — as long as everything matches your story. remember the story is very important

But again I suggest you talk to a licensed immigration consultant. I’m not a licensed immigration consultant, but I always share my opinion

Hello Forum. I hope we are well. I have a quick question please.

My sister recently entered into the pool and we are trying to plan ahead for proof of funds.

I am currently in Canada and she is in Nigeria and we are looking at two options for the PoF:

1. I buy a GIC (Guaranteed Investment Certificates) in her name and she would attach the certificate to her application.
2. I do a gift deed to her and she would include a letter of explanation (LOE) as part of her question.

Our preferred option is option 1, however I am not sure if anyone has done this before and what was their experience. Are there any other things to consider with this option?

For option 2, would it create a problem if I were to gift her considering we are in different countries or that does not matter?

Please help. Appreciate all and any response. Thank you!

If your goal is Express Entry PoF, go with Option 2 (Gift Deed).
It’s straightforward, transparent, and widely accepted by IRCC — even between siblings in different countries. Just ensure the transfer happens early enough so the funds can sit in her account for a reasonable time (a few months ideally), showing stability.

For you to buy a GIC for your sister, she needs to have a bank account in Canada. You can transfer the funds to her account, and she can then buy the GIC from her own account.

But my question is — why is everyone suddenly crazy about getting a GIC when they’re not even in Canada?
What’s up with this new trend of everyone trying to get a GIC?

so I will go with option 2

**POF QUESTION**

Good morning Nairaland people.
Please I need advice on POF related issue:
I have received nomination for PNP and done all the necessary, even done medicals etc. However, most of POF was stored in UK, had an account from when I schooled there a very long time ago.
However, the uk bank says they are closing my account since I don’t have any form of resident visa there. I tried opening other accounts there as you know naija banking can have one k-leg or the other, so I don’t really wat to move the money to naija (fees, govt regulation can change anytime etc).

Please I have a few questions:
1. Has anyone been in this situation and how did you solve it?
2. Does IRCC recognise digital money accounts like monese?
3. At this stage which seems like the last leg, will they still be asking for POF?

Thank you in advance for your comments, suggestions and advice.
