“We cannot afford to continue to see judges living in rented houses, sometimes squatting with relatives. By the end of President Tinubu’s first tenure, no judge of the FCT High Court will be living in rented quarters,” Wike declared.

He said the administration will deliver 10 duplexes each for the Court of Appeal and the Federal High Court, and 20 for the FCT High Court.

The minister stressed that the houses would not revert to government ownership upon the retirement of the beneficiaries.

“This is a policy of Mr President. When judges retire, they must go home with their houses. Nobody will reclaim them. That is the true position,” he said.

Wike also revealed that the digitization of the FCT High Court has been provided for in the 2025 budget, with immediate implementation to follow.

That's very rich coming from someone who always chants, "I do for you, you do for me" at every project commissioning ground.

Translation: they are going to buy Court of Appeal and Federal High Court Judges.

Ask yourself why do these Judges need duplexes for retirement?

Nigeria is cooked, the corruption in this country is so brazen and there is no hope for any salvation.

What of doctors, civil servants and ordinary Nigerians, everyone is important. Why this obsession with judges?
If judges can't save and build a home for themselves before they retire, why should we use everybody's patrimony for some sets of citizens.

I struggle to believe judges can't build or buy their own houses.

This patronage is unnecessary.

The days when he was in PDP and acting James Bond movies for Federal Judges , most were watching him and praising him then, the "Lion of Rivers" he was called..... now those same people are gnashing their teeth and pretending like he has sunk to new lows that have never been seen...lol

When this "so-called democracy" is truncated in Nigeria, it will be because of chameleons like Wike that have no scruples and have bribed and compromised everyone and everything, people who hold nothing sacred, and make our first Republic politicians/actors (yes ooo those who led us into a civil war) look like Saints !!

This is preposterous, judges like every other public service workers earn their wages and therefore do not deserve preferential treatment except there's an ulterior motive down the line angry angry angry angry
Re: We Cannot Afford To Continue To See Judges Living In Rented Houses - Wike by ARISHEM:
Wike is playing mind games in politics given the way he is doling preferential treatment to judges.
He is systematically buying them so as to protect all his properties scattered outside the country especially the one in Florida that he did not declare to the CCB whenever the issue come out in court.
Clever and cunning politician

Step 1. Buy the judiciary and you'll be untouchable.
Imagine you get case against Wike, and it's presided by one of these compromised judges...

Buying the Judiciary ahead of 2027. When they say go to court, they own the court
Re: We Cannot Afford To Continue To See Judges Living In Rented Houses - Wike by hotseat: 1:19am On Oct 15, 2025
Building houses for judges instead of them having to rent or stay with relatives is desirable but for them to have those houses for keeps is wrong and more like a bribe, if you ask me.

If the FCT continues in that trajectory, there may be no more lands to build for incoming judges.

Although judges deserve fair and better treatment, they shouldn't be indulged or treated as special breed.

Those houses should be for only judges still in service.

At the completion of their service, they must relinquish those houses for others coming after them.

Wike, you got this one wrong!

Technically, during tribunals or cases, someone would remind these judges that they owe someone some undue benevolence.
And the judges will be morally blackmailed to pay back in Nigerian way.

Why are you APC people so concerned with Judges who are millionaires, and their welfare, all the time?

What about Lecturers, Doctors, Engineers, Teachers and other artisans welfare

Oh, only Judges can subvert the will of the people in the court of Law?

Well if Man escapes the punishment of man through constant scheming, can Man evade God? We must all leave this world one day

With their bogus salary, they cannot build houses by themselves. Corruption will not end in Nigeria.

What of civil servants that are collecting salary which is not up to N70K and yet they have bungalow for themselves.

This drunkard is well aware of his illicit scheming. They shout Go To Court . already indirectly brine a judge to rule in APC favour. Judges salaries are one of the highest in the land with SUV Jeep vehicles and other allowances yet Hurricane Wike only concern is to build them duplexes not even 3 bedroom. Truly APC is a cursed on its supporters.

You have used the right word of chameleon to describe this man who sees himself as being overwise.

Arguing that Obi’s presidential bid would only work in favour of Tinubu, Soludo said, “Indeed, if I were Asiwaju Tinubu, I would even give Peter Obi money as someone heading one of the departments of his campaign, because Obi is making Tinubu’s pathway to victory much easier by indirectly pulling down PDP.”

Obi, according to Soludo, would only deplete the votes of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and pave the path for an APC victory.

He stated, “The current fleeting frenzy, if not checked, will cost Ndigbo dearly for years. The South-east has the lowest number of votes of any region, but it is also the only region where the presidential race might be a four-way race (it is a two-way race in the other five regions) thereby, ensuring that our votes won’t count in the making of the next president of Nigeria.

2023: PDP and politics of healing Wike’s self-inflicted injury

Then, the race began in earnest for three years now, reaching a frenzy with the works of the two PDP committees on zoning. The first was the Gov Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi committee on the zoning of the PDP party offices. The Ugwuanyi committee quickly told the world the committee’s assignment did not cover zoning the office of the president. Though this was true, the question is: why didn’t the Ugwuanyi committee zone the PDP chairmanship to the North without aligning it to the divide that would produce the PDP presidential flag-bearer? The second committee headed by Gov Samuel Ortom of Benue state was specifically on the zoning of the presidential ticket and, with the votes of the representatives of all the 17 Southern states without any exception, the Committee unanimously recommended throwing open the PDP presidential ticket, which the PDP NEC simply upheld.

One thing irrefutably stands out – Wike shot himself in the leg. Here was a man who had an overarching influence on both committees but could not insist that the ticket be zoned South. Many had wondered why? The reason is also relatively in plain sight: the Southeast factor. As the clamour for zoning of the presidential ticket of the PDP to South reached its crescendo, many had pointed out the fact that though the PDP Constitution had prescribed zoning of the office of the president to be between North and South since the South-west and South-south had taken their turns in producing the president and the vice in this current dispensation in the persons of Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan, zoning this time around, should not just be to the South but the Southeast.

Atiku Abubakar went a step further by offering to step down from the race if it would be agreed that the touted zoning to the South would mean micro-zoning to the Southeast. Wike and the rest could not take the Atiku challenge maybe because Atiku would likely back Peter Obi, who was his vice-presidential running mate in 2019 and an ally. The prospects of Peter Obi picking the ticket if PDP zoned South was so real compelling Wike to go for an open contest, believing he could pick it up ahead of Atiku, Tambuwal and Bala Mohammed, given his large war chest.

Says a man who hijacked the party and singlehandedly produced the last 4 National Chairmen of the party for his own selfishness.

Says a man who accepted nomination to be running mate to Fulani Atiku.
He knew it was injustice to give Atiku the ticket yet he lobbied to be the VP.
grin grin

He knew the party had to go South for the 2023 election, yet he still put Secondus as National Chaiman just to hijack the party..
Only to push Secondus out because he wanted the ticket 2023.

This man remains the biggest problem of PDP.

He can only deceive and fool his minions, not reasonable people.
