Ihiala, Anambra State

After several years of living in fear and displacement, residents of the Ebonesie area — comprising Orsumoghu, Isseke, Mbosi, Lilu, and Ubuluisiuzo — in Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State have begun returning to their ancestral homes, following a gradual restoration of peace and security in the region.

The communities, which were once strongholds of violent criminal activities and armed groups, had witnessed prolonged insecurity that forced hundreds of families to flee their homes, abandon farmlands, and seek refuge in neighboring towns and states.

However, in recent months, increased security operations and renewed government attention have brought a sense of calm to the area. Residents, who had been displaced for years, are now seen rebuilding their homes and farmlands, while some community members have expressed gratitude to God and the authorities for restoring peace.

One returning resident said with visible emotion:

“We suffered for years. Many of us lost our homes, our means of livelihood, and even family members. But today, we thank God that we can finally come back home. Peace has truly returned.”

Local leaders also commended the efforts of the Anambra State Government and security agencies, including joint task forces that intensified patrols in the region. They noted that the return of residents is a sign of renewed confidence and hope for lasting stability.

Community development unions have already begun mobilizing resources for rebuilding schools, markets, and worship centers that were destroyed or abandoned during the years of insecurity.

A state government official who visited the area assured residents that more measures were being put in place to prevent a relapse into violence, emphasizing that the administration is determined to make every part of Anambra safe for citizens.

The return of peace to these once-troubled towns marks a significant milestone in the fight against insecurity in the Southeast, signaling a new beginning for communities that have endured years of hardship and displacement.

It was a thing of joy as the residents happily returns home.

No section Anambra state or its people ever went on exile because of insecurity under Peter Obi. In fact the state was the safest state as attested by the the IGP. Now, under Charles Soludo, people are just returning. So who is beneficial to Anambra state in respect to security?

I lived and worked in Okigwe and Ihiala, IPOB terrorised and rendered Ihiala - the entire east unsafe and unattractive for business and investments.

The Ihiala people, the entire easterners excluding few persons like me, welcomed the terrorist IPOB with open hands believing they will secure them independence. They accommodated and gave expanse of lands to armed insurgents. They now celebrate returning to their abandoned villages as though it was not them who brought ant infested firewoods.

For me, I have left both the east and Nigeria, praying never to return to a place and a people so irremediably retrogressive!

I am happy to demonise the demons, which IPOB and the entire so-called Biafra freedom fighters are headed by your failure of a supreme leader, Nnamdi Kalu.

Buhari is on record as the worst person to ever become Nigeria’s president, his greatest deed was declaring the IPOB and all its associated groups terrorist organisation.

My accounts about the activities of this terror organisation are both my personal eyewitness and from reliable first person accounts. As a terrorist sympathiser, you and your kins can continue to live the lie and denial as long as you want but reality will dawn on you sooner or later.

Anambra- Headquartered in Ihiala and Nnewi South LGA, IPOB camped and terrorised residents for years unstopped especially after being pushed away from the Orlu-Orsu LGAs of IMO State.
My warehouse was situated at the popular Ihiala Market so I witnessed many killings. It was common to see corpse littered on the streets especially at Total filling station Ihiala.
Death by IPOB became stall news, it was daily. They erected roadblocks along the roads of Amorka, Azia, Lilu, Okija, Mbosi, Isseke, Orsumoghu, Ubuluisuzor and Uli extorting road users and kidnapping any who’s unfortunate. I lived in Uli and there were no silent nights, it was always gun shots and screams because a terrorist camp was a stone throw to my lodging.
I had a brand new car at this time in 2022, I had to park the car for fear of being donated to terrorist as it was the norm.
