Top 10 States With Highest & Lowest Year-On-Year Food Inflation Rate (Sept 2025) by DrMB(op): 5:22pm On Oct 16, 2025
28.7% vs. 2.8%: How can the cost of food rise nearly 10 times faster in one state than another?
Nigeria's latest food inflation report (September 2025) reveals a shocking disparity in the price of food across the country, showing a clear North-South divide in price stability.
Why are states like Ekiti, Rivers, and Lagos being hit so hard, while Bauchi, Niger, and Anambra enjoy single-digit increases?

But you won't allow the south to go. You'd stick like a leach on Nigeria, sucking all the crude oil money from the south. 🙁

Abia has better job opportunities

Ebonyi has serenity, and calmness, just cool to go with your exotic cars and drive on fly overs. Quite and calm with middle job opportunities.

Abia especially Aba is very noisy, loud, busy, lots of job opportunities.

So, make your choice.

Ebonyi is family and home oriented due to its serenity and calmness, no robberies or pick pockets or hold ups and cool infrastructure but its quite small.

Abia has business tussle, loud, noisy, money available to be made.

Your choice. Both have good infrastructure thanks to Dave Umahi and Otti.

The south does not eat farm products from the north...

Southern Nigerians have their own indigenous foods which is different from northern Nigerians.

If you are truly a Nigerian then you should know these.

How can Ekiti State (that was carved out of Ondo State) have a higher year-on-year food inflation rate? These two States are practically in the same geographical location.

This is a case of clear rampant hoarding, a game of speculative trading and rampant profiteering going on in Ekiti State and those other 10 top States. It's time to finally break the middle men in the supply chain and let the farmers sell directly to end users or end buyers in Farmers Markets and designated markets at a cheaper cost like Lagos State is already doing via those Agric Food Hubs. Period.

The north depends on the south for everything else oga.

Southerners are not lazy. Learn about the geography your country nigeria. The south is mainly composed of rainforest and mangrove swamps.

Populaiton density is greater in the south than in the North, which means more land for farming up North, less land down south relatively speaking.
