Activist, Mahdi Shehu, has raised the alarm over what he described as a “victory parade” by armed bandits in Bakori Local Government Area of Katsina State, lamenting that criminal gangs now operate with impunity and impose their own rules on helpless communities.

In a post on his verified X (formerly Twitter) account, Shehu said the heavily armed bandits, dressed in full combat uniforms, converged on Bakori for what was termed a “peace deal” with a defeated local community.

He noted that over the past decade, bandits have killed, maimed, raped, and displaced hundreds of thousands of villagers across the North, leaving many communities traumatized and impoverished.

According to him, most residents are left with no choice but to submit to the dictates of the bandits, agreeing to their terms in order to gain temporary safety, access their farms, and carry out daily market activities.

“The bandits have effectively carved out their own state within a state, where their rules override those of the government,” Shehu wrote, warning that similar situations persist in many parts of Northern Nigeria.

The activist’s statement has drawn widespread reactions online, with many users expressing concern over the worsening security situation and the growing influence of armed groups in rural communities.

Go through my posts before 2019 elections I always predicted this will happen if Buhari is allowed to get second term ...and again I warn if Tinubu gets 2nd term , Nigerians economy will never again recover till the eventual break up into southern and Northern Nigeria which i predict will happen in 20 years

The North wanted political Sharia Law in 2001, and now they have got full Sharia, as the Sultan of Sokoto stated that J/ihad means a good deed. I'm tired of Northern Nigerians complaining about a system that they supported .
