FAAC: Which State Received Highest Share Of The Federation Account Allocation? by DrMB(op): 4:13pm On Oct 17, 2025
The sheer scale of the latest FAAC allocations for the first seven months of 2025 has ignited a national debate! With a staggering difference between the top-receiving and lower-receiving geopolitical zones, the data points to a crucial factor: the 13% Derivation Fund.
is the current revenue-sharing formula a fair and effective tool for balanced national development, or does it permanently entrench regional fiscal disparity?

Niger Delta states have the highest allocation but nothing to show for it, everyone is always focused on the federal government instead of holding their governors accountable for the development of the state.

What a shame.

Why do we not have the reports for Southwest and Southeast?

Anyways, Tinubu government enriching Nigerian governors and lawmakers, while the citizens grope in hardship and starvation!

Re: FAAC: Which State Received Highest Share Of The Federation Account Allocation? by Daisyle(m): 4:31pm On Oct 17, 2025
What of the South West, why are they not on the list? Abi they did not receive any allocation.

Are these in naira or USD? This archaic, anti federalism, and anti developmental sharing pot arrangement has truly rendered both the federal government and states to be lazy parasites subsisting on petrodollars and taxes from underperforming Nigerian companies and poor people.

These monies that states are sharing, there is God oh. Not to mention increased security votes for governors in South East while they keep playing politics with the people.

I explained something this morning:

Under Buhari, FG shared in a single month as much as 700 billion naira at its peak , when converted to dollars that translates to about 1.5 billion dollars at the time, now in Tinubu's administration, the highest he has shared in a single month is about 2 trillion and that translates to just about 1.3 billion dollars, the screenshots are all there(CBN official rates where used for both calculations)

You can see from the analysis that Tinubu has not done anything better than Buhari infact he has even done worse, and who are the people paying for his nonsense, the citizens, imagine removing subsidy, then increasing money that he has devalued beyond Buhari's time to give to state that cannot do what could be done during Buhari's time and still borrowing recklessly and still taxing the citizens more than Buhari and still taking more loans like the country is completely broke...

At who's expense? the citizens, What is really annoying me about Tinubu's presidency is the fact that the man is busy destroying the country for his personal gains and blame is been thrown to other people, or he is being praised for doing better than what his predecessors did when in reality the reverse is the case.

this allocation is always skewed and I still don't get why some barren states receive more than productive states.

Why merge? Restructure so that each state can control her resources.

Richtaiwo:
Some 5 villages should be merged as one, or highest 2. This method of revenue allocation is not fair. 2 states collecting allocation of 5 states, the worst system ever.

Imagine, Oyo state alone bigger than 5 states, yet the 5 states getting allocation for 5 states while Oyo still collects for one state. The military rulers kept changing local government areas to states, which kind of warped system is that?

Lagos is the smallest state, therefore Lagos should get the lowest allocation according to your logic.

Clap for yourself.

Una don dey claim Oyo now, tommorrow you go claim Lagos.

Let everyone go there separate ways, you can keep your big for nothing “landmass” to yourselves while the small regions keep their resources to themselves.

Money is reflective of the value it can store. That's why easy money goes easily.

The value of one million naira in the possession of an individual obtained through illicit means is demonstrably less than the equivalent sum earned through diligent labor.

Enhanced productivity is achieved by prioritizing value creation over mere financial gain.

Each governor should be mandated to submit quarterly reports detailing the number of jobs created, salaries paid, and verifiable projects executed with FAAC allocations. These reports must be audited and cross-checked by the DSS, EFCC, or any credible government watchdog to ensure transparency.

We’ve been repeating the same cycle for over 40 years, disbursing massive funds to governors and simply hoping they spend it wisely. This blind trust has fueled systemic corruption, looting, and mismanagement at the state level.

Many of these governors had never managed ₦10 million responsibly before assuming office, yet they now control billions monthly without oversight. If we continue this way, nothing will change.

There must be a structured accountability framework, each state should publish how much was received, how much was spent, and on what. Citizens deserve to know whether their governors are actually working.

This approach will also ease the pressure on the federal government, shifting responsibility to the sub-nationals who receive and spend the funds. Because truth be told, some governors are already stockpiling public funds to finance their next election campaigns. We all know this, let’s stop pretending. Accountability must start at the state level.

Crude Oil Revenue distribution has never been fair to the oil producing states. Until that is addressed, we have to keep the VAT distributions the same.
