Yoruba people clash over who is superior between Tinubu and Awolowo

What has Tinubu done that is spectacular? He only won 4 Southern states (all from the SW) in 2023. The North came through and made him President with 5.6m votes. The fact that he has undemocratically destroyed the two major opposition political parties in 2023 using state apparatus is not political deftness, it's desperation. He still won't be able to win the South in a landslide in 2027 and his Northern base is fast eroding.

Awo is a legend.

In Yoruba land, the name Oduduwa resonates across ages and times.

I stand to be corrected, but after that, the only other name that follows is Awolowo.

When you are reminded of his government's accomplishments in Western Nigeria then, it sends shivers down your spine particularly when you compare him to current SW state Governors with all the money coming to their states and the little they achieve and celebrate.

Mr Tinubu is the great politician of his era. A brilliant and methodical operator and planner, he stands heads and shoulders above his contemporaries but he is a few steps below Awo the performer and intellectual.

Awo's achievements leave you in 'wonderment'.

I totally understand her point, And she's right---Awolowo deserves the highest respect for his legacy.But comparing Tinubu and Awolowo does not mean disrespect..----It is political analysis and that is how democracy growth.

Obviously, Tinumbu is better than Awolowo, even far better than Oduduwa.

On what ground are you comparing light with darkness. Awo is light unto southwest while tax collector is .......

Even the supporters of a despicable humanity who have long replaced Awolowo's legacy of free education with oluwolesm and agberoism wont allow the late sage to continue to rest in peace.

Tell me who is perfect apart from God

Awolowo is dead and as at today,he is the greatest Yoruba leader due to what he achieve d.
There is no politician either dead or alive in Nigeria that is up to Awolowo in lasting and superior achievements and hindsight.
The way Tinubu is going,he might become as great as Awolowo or even surpass him.It all depends on achievements,landmarks and what you were able to give the populace positively when you were alive.

The thing is - Peter Obi will still not become the President in Nigeria no matter your incessant coordinated campaign of calumny directed against our elders on Social Media.

Awo is great. Tinubu is great. It is normal to compare a great son with his great father.

Awo was not able to be President because the South Easterners keeps on betraying him against the North by forming alliance with the North only to be second fiddle. Tinubu knew this, so he formed alliance with the North and ignored the South East. Tinubu formed alliance with North and decided to be the godfather instead of being second fiddle, so he let Awo’s son in-law Osinbajo to be second to a Northerner.

When the time came, the Northern Oligarchy betrayed Tinubu just as they did to Awo and to the South East severally by bringing out their money bag son Atiku Abubakar, but Tinubu was far ahead of their betrayer. He told them at the market square that he will be President whether they like it or not. When the whistle was blown to start the chess game of Power, Tinubu grabbed, snatched and ran away with Power to the surprise of the enemies within and the ones outside

Ojukwu faced his enemies squarely by declaring Biafra, unfortunately Azikiwe supported Nigeria against Biafra. That was a traitor and backstabber
