| How Tinubu Planned The Coup by shortgun(op): 2:19am On Oct 19, 2025 |
The reports about some military officers allegedly plotting to overthrow the Tinubu administration are nothing more than karma doing full cycle. Nigerians remember how Tinubu’s close associates once openly called for a coup against Goodluck Jonathan’s government in 2012 . Tinubu’s current special assistant on social media called on the military to forcefully remove Jonathan from office. Even Tinubu himself once told Nigerians that the only way to have progress in the country was to remove Goodluck Jonathan from office. So, why is Tinubu not embracing what he plotted for other presidents before him? ![]()

Was there any coup in the first place..? |
| Re: How Tinubu Planned The Coup by nairalanda1(m): 5:40am On Oct 19, 2025 |
Yeah I remember that, and they were very very wrong then to call for coup And anyone who calls for coup now is basically copying tinubu bad behavior in the name of politics Let's say that there was coup in 2014, no be oy GEJ and his supporters wey go suffer am. They would have come for buhari , tinubu and their supporters. Remember 1983.? It wasn't just NPN people they came after. Even people from minority parties like PRP were targeted. Anyway, this post shows the type of politics we play in Nigeria. Politics of bitterness and more bitterness. We better calm down. We don't want Abacha pro max |

Coup has come to stay, whatever a man soweth that he shall reapeth, whatever evil the man planted no other person will follow in the harvest except Mr President and His family and friends. |
| Re: How Tinubu Planned The Coup by nairalanda1(m): 6:03am On Oct 19, 2025 |
Newsmills:Lol, coups don't stop with just the president and his party. Remember buhari s coup. The man did not stop with just the NPN, other parties too joined the show to suffer. And all of you shouting restructuring, and secession, all that will end under army rule Yeah, democracy is bad and I don't like tinubu and wish he lost in 2023, but I do not want to replace apc autocracy where there is a chance to peacefully remove them with army autocracy where there is no chance at all Shebi if tinubu and his supporters had been successful for calling coup in 2014, ya think that buhari or tinubu would be president today? Na jail or exile or even death self. You think obi would have had the chance of even being president? You know how the 1983 coup spoiled the chances of ekweme from ever becoming president? |
| Re: How Tinubu Planned The Coup by Dogalmighty17: 6:15am On Oct 19, 2025 |
Seriously though, how brain dead does any officer of the Nigerian army have to be to think a coup would succeed in present day Nigeria? That will be the end of your country as we know it. |
| Re: How Tinubu Planned The Coup by givedemwotowoto: 6:16am On Oct 19, 2025 |
nairalanda1:In democracy, you compete to get the support of the people. If there is foul play during the process, the court settles and gives justice. Once you start ruling a country with the minority, and you buy off the courts and the legislature, you have destroyed democracy. |
| Re: How Tinubu Planned The Coup by nairalanda1(m): 6:22am On Oct 19, 2025 |
givedemwotowoto:So we should replace democracy with the army, where they will even do worse than what tinubu is doing? Plus what you are saying was said in the first and second republic, and the resulting coup made things worse both times Plus ya think army will just stop at the ruling party? They will also touch the opposition. Finally, assuming there was coup in 2014 because tinubu supporters were saying the same thing you are saying now about GEJ government, ya think tinubu would be president now.? Na jail or exile him go be. Why you Nigerians dey cut your nose to spite your face? Lord knows that the coups always backfire on whoever calls for them. I called out people calling for coup in 2014 and I will do the same for people calling for coup now. I no want Abacha part 2. And if obi and atiku had come to an agreement, tinubu would have lost . If more people had come out to vote, tinubu would have lost. Nigerians no hear. The mistakes of history are repeated again and again |

nairalanda1:So remind me again how you linked Obidients to the coup? Were we not all here together before SR and PT surprised all of us? Why has your comment suddenly shifted to accusing Obidients? You undercover Tinubu supporters never disappoint in exposing yourselves. Obidients are simply telling you the obvious. Like I said in my previous comment, when you do things that destroy democracy, do you need a soothsayer to tell you what will happen next? What do you think will happen in America if democratic institutions get destroyed the way our politicians are doing in Nigeria? You think there will be peace and Americans will just go about their normal businesses and hope some miracle happens? |

| Re: How Tinubu Planned The Coup by Sheuns(m): 7:09am On Oct 19, 2025 |
givedemwotowoto:They all like being clever by half. They call this civilian dictatorship, a democracy. A democracy that the politicians rule the people with iron fist and do not allow them basic human rights. You cannot request for information using the FOI act. You cannot ask ministers questions on how they spend public funds. They’ll tell you you’re a small boy. It’s better we’re under military rule than this so called democracy where civilians rule instead of govern. |
| Re: How Tinubu Planned The Coup by nairalanda1(m): 7:13am On Oct 19, 2025 |
givedemwotowoto:Even then , no to coup. You won't like it after five years. Plus if you obi supporters are serious about not supporting the coup calls, you should unite and get apc out. Nigeria is tired and Nigeria needs change Don't support a coup. Don't be like tinubu supporters that called for GEJ to be overthrown in 2014. They are lucky their payers were not answered |

When I realized that it's over 25yrs since Abdulsalam handed over to OBJ (chai I don old o!! 😳), I've come to realize that a lot of the noisemakers here supporting a coup (likely in their 20-30s) were not born or very young by then, and so have absolutely no idea of what it's like to live under a military regime. It's just what they read and perhaps fantasize over the likes of the B/Faso's Traore. I laugh in Igede. 🙄 No, I don't like Tinubu anymore than you do, but having experienced both types of government, I can never wish for such again in Nigeria. My two kobo |

nairalanda1:This level of energy and passion, put it towards telling the politicians to do the right thing, to respect the rules of the game. Because you’re deluding yourself if you think Nigeria is not under imminent threat of collapse based on the direction it’s going. People have been saying this for about a decade now (including people like OBJ) but somehow people like you are not paying attention, you’re still arguing like someone who doesn’t know the reality facing them |

Dogalmighty17:i think recent coups happenings across africa countries is what tempted the military ... they did it n got away with it even in this modern time coup is not good for us as people Buh Buhari + Tinubu have finished Nigeria completely all in the name of politics, our military is now a joke, handicap in the hands of bandits/ boko haram becos some uselezz old fuuls are playing politics with people hand. the military guyz are not happy, they are failing because govt in govt and the presidency is unserious about strengthening the military The failed coup is a strong message to the presidency that the country is over-divided and governance is missing |

He said the only way to have progress in the country was to ‘ remove Jonathan from office’ he didn’t mention Jonathan should be removed from office via coup. It was an individual with the moniker Daddy D O that mentioned coup. |
| Re: How Tinubu Planned The Coup by slam7000(m): 8:40am On Oct 19, 2025 |
Putindbutt:Everything has to be attributed to ‘Obidients’. How do you think, breathe and see bigotry and hypocrisy everyday. Your posts on nairaland and I believe other social media platforms are full of hate, propaganda and bigotry. |

In as much as this whole coup talk seems like a ruse to me, the way this devilish party is ruling the country with so much division; will surely pave way for a coup in the nearest future. |
| Re: How Tinubu Planned The Coup by seunjungle1(m): 9:59am On Oct 19, 2025 |
Majority of this indomie generation think they will have access to criticise military rule on social media the way some of us did or doing to the both present and past democratic rules. How old were they when Abacha was ruling Nigeria? Majority of them cannot even give one vivid picture of military rules in Nigeria. |
| Re: How Tinubu Planned The Coup by shortgun(op): 10:30am On Oct 19, 2025 |
seunjungle1:Let’s be honest everything that still works in Nigeria today was built by the military. From refineries to major roads, bridges, seaports, power stations all came from military regimes. This thing we call democracy is nothing but a fraudulent enterprise. A bunch of politicians acting above the law, looting with confidence and disregarding the constitution to serve their interests. They shout civil rule but there’s nothing civil about the rot, impunity and organized corruption they run in the name of governance.. |

Whatever is happening Tinubu today is what he has been doing to others, remember,he once call President Jonathan "a drunken fisherman". He has never been a gentleman though we don't need coup in Nigeria |

Putindbutt:Shift to where? What are you on about? You only put yourself where you rightly belong. The post was borne out of mischief and I’ve aired my opinion about it. I didn’t see where Tinubu called for coup against Jonathan and I made that known. I could’ve called Daddy D O whoever the person is a name or labelled him but I didn’t. You are the acting weird like you’ve always done here. |
