APC Chairman Brags: 'Another Big Figure Has Finished Medicals, Will Join Us In Two Weeks'

Yilwatda, who spoke during a meeting with APC stakeholders in Jos, Plateau State, said the planned defections were part of a growing wave of new entrants from opposition parties ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda, has claimed that several prominent members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) will join the ruling party next week.

Yilwatda, who spoke during a meeting with APC stakeholders in Jos, Plateau State, said the planned defections were part of a growing wave of new entrants from opposition parties ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He revealed that many of the incoming members have completed their medicals and will be formally unveiled next week.

The APC chairman described the ruling party as the bride of the moment, noting that more politicians — including senators, governors, and members of the National Assembly — were preparing to join the party.

Yilwatda said, “Next week, I will be receiving some notable figures from the ADC. Some of those who had earlier defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ADC are now returning to the APC.

“In another two weeks, we will unveil yet another big figure who just finished his own medicals. He tried to unveil himself the day before yesterday, and you may have seen it in the news. But officially, we’ll be receiving him soon.

“The beauty of the APC is that it welcomes everyone, regardless of when they join. You don’t have to be in the APC from the beginning to rise. I am a testimony to that. If you join today, you are a full member with full rights and privileges. That’s the spirit of our party’s constitution," the national chairman said.

SaharaReporters during the week reported that the Bayelsa State governor, Duoye Diri, announced his resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

He had made this announcement through his Chief Press Secretary, Daniel Alabrah who communicated the development on his Facebook Page on Wednesday.

While it is unclear where the governor is headed, on May 1, 2025, the APC seems his most likely destination.

Governor Diri's resignation comes a day after the Enugu State governor, Peter Mbah, also abandoned the PDP.

SaharaReporters earlier reported that Governor Mbah announced his defection to APC on Tuesday during a press conference, saying the move was driven by his desire to better serve the people of Enugu and align with the APC’s “vision for development and progress.”

He formally defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) alongside his immediate predecessor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, state and federal lawmakers, among others.

In a broadcast to the Enugu people, Mbah announced his decision to leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and join the APC, citing a desire for a platform where the people's interest would be represented and respected.

"Big figures" are decamping into the APC to be handed over the party structure as new brides while the other "small figures" who have been building the party in their states are told to respect the new party leader or get dealt with. It can only end one way.

The problem with your puerile comment is that it exposes your limited abilities.
If you are capable of elevated thinking, you would have seen my post for exactly what it is - a charge that locates our political class as one filled with people that have no scruples.

I know you are probably paid to mount to saddle in defense of your beloved APC, whenever you see or hear something you consider disagreeable. In this instance, though, I put them all (APC, PDP, ADC, LP, and other letters of the alphabet) in the same bracket.
