My dear brother ocnovakmichael , I appreciate your input to the subject about baptism. But let me ask this question,
Because everybody and church are doing the same mistake of preaching baptism as a religious activity or a doctrine , so my question is ,

what is the significance or goal or aim or purpose of baptism?
When you get it then you"ll know that is beyond immersion into water.
Pls study, Acts 1 vs 5. Acts 10. Acts 11. Acts 18 vs24 to 28. Acts 19 vs 1 to 7. Ephesian 5 vs 25. Matthew 3 vs 11. John 1 vs 19 to 34. Luke 3 vs 1 to 20.
My brothers , is beyond immersion

People have died during or after baptism ceremonies due to various tragic events, including attacks by gunmen in Niger in 2025, drownings in incidents in Johannesburg in 2022 and Texas in 2024, and a cardiac arrest in a baby during a 2021 ceremony in Romania. In other cases, people have died from medical emergencies shortly after a baptism, such as a man in Birmingham, UK, in 2023.
Are you sure?

Be careful how you interprete his words. You certainly doesn't have the right interpretation.

Lk 7 : 48 -

48 Then Jesus said to her, “Your sins are forgiven.”

49 The other guests began to say among themselves, “Who is this who even forgives sins?”

50 Jesus said to the woman, “Your faith has saved you; go in peace.”
Please can you show how these verses have anything to do with our discussion? No need of distractions the question is not if Christ can forgive din, it is if baptism is needed for salvation and according to our Saviour, the answer is capital yes. But to you, the Saviour is wrong.
Jesus Christ Himself has no son yet He was baptized to fulfill all righteousness so even with the woman saved from her sin, she still has not fulfilled all righteousness. She most definitely needed baptism to enter the kingdom of God.

Baptism isn’t a ceremony — it’s obedience.
Jesus said in Matthew 28:19, “Go and baptize them…” — not as an option but as a command.

Romans 6:4 shows it’s dying to sin and rising to new life.

And 1 Peter 3:21 calls it “the answer of a good conscience toward God.”
If you truly believe, don’t delay — get baptized.

This must be a write-up from the Church of Christ of which I'm a member. Baptism cannot be sprinkling as purported by some of our religious friends. Even Jesus as our exemplar, subjected himself for Baptism as a way all would-be Christians should follow.

Nairaland boys the moment someone calls out your falsehoods using the bible, you start to claim the person was not calm. I assure you, I was very calm.

Again you claim I quoted out of context. Over to you, explain what Jesus Christ meant when He said that no man can enter the kingdom of God if he is not born by water.

2 things, you said, no evidence of water baptism but that doesn't mean she did not get baptized just because you did not see any evidence.
Again in her story, there was no evidence of baptism of the spirit. So according to your doctrine, one would not need to be born of the spirit because the woman you mentioned showed no evidence of being born of the spirit.
Do you now understand how wrong you have been.
Let's go back to gospel fundamentals. The Savoir said you cannot enter His kingdom if you are not baptized. It goes for you as well as the woman in the verses you quoted.

Young man, I understand you have a pressing need to contribute but not every discussion is meant for everyone. Now you are more of a distraction. Please give way to those who are taking the effort to teach from the bible and explain the Christian doctrine so we all can be enlightened. Allow the intelligent people, that way, even you can learn if you humble yourself.
Just take it easy you hear. Don't contribute anymore unless you are doing so from the word of God.
Thanks
Will love.

Baptism of the spirit doesn't need water...what evidence are you looking for

why are you mentioning catholics.... Baptism is to fulfil all righteousness according to jesus meaning it's not a prerequisite to make heaven because u can't fulfil all righteousness.... For example jesus also observed the sabbath day, he went to the temple to pray... He was fulfilling all righteousness..... Resting on d sabbath day is also fulfilling all righteousness but how many of us rest? Does that mean we are sinning?

....the most important thing is to be born again

Yes, it doesn't need water, so do you have any evidence that she was baptized in the Spirit? The answer is no, you don't know if she was baptized of the Spirit. You assume, but you don't know.

Now, let me say something very controversial, I am sure you would not agree with me. Every instruction and commandment Jesus Christ gave us will lead us to the Kingdom of God, and disobedience to any will prevent us from entering the kingdom unless we repent.
The instruction to baptize was not just a nice but needless suggestion. It was the word of God to man. We live by every word that proceeded from His mouth.

I understand you prefer to look out for people whom you think somehow made it to His kingdom without obeying His words. But me, I rather obey instead of looking for excuses.

How do you understand language. Baptism is to fulfill all righteousness, which means that without baptism, righteousness cannot be fulfilled.
Even Jesus Christ, with no sin, needed to be baptized to fulfill righteousness. What can you learn from that?

Water baptism is good but not mandatory.

There were more emphasis on holy ghost baptism by the apostle especially in a scenario where water baptism couldn't be conducted
No brother. Water baptism is very much mandatory. The Lord Jesus made water baptism mandatory when he said, "... Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God" (John 3:5).
Did you notice Jesus said, "Except a man be born of water?"

Baptism by water and the baptism of the Holy Ghost are two streams flowing from the Holy Ghost.

Do you understand the meaning of the word fulfill? It means to bring to pass, to make something happen. E.g., I fulfilled my dream of being a doctor. Baptism is needed to bring to pass all righteousness. If you are not baptized following the example of Jesus Christ, you will not bring to pass all righteousness. Hope you understand the statement now?

Yes brother I know it is beyond immersion, but it's necessary to get immersed. The Lord Jesus made it necessary when he said, "... Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God" (John 3:5).

It is in baptism that a man is begotten because at baptism the man identified himself with the death and resurrection of Jesus. Paul testifying in the book of Acts said Jesus was begotten when God raised him up from the dead; and so are we when we are born of water and of the Spirit

Acts 13:30,33
[30]But God raised him from the dead:
[33]God hath fulfilled the same unto us their children, in that he hath raised up Jesus again; as it is also written in the second psalm, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee.

It is when we identify with Jesus' death and resurrection that is when we are begotten because we died and are resurrected by the Spirit through baptism. Without identification with Christ death, we cannot be begotten

1 Peter 1:3
[3]Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

Notice again that we are begotten through the identification with Jesus' death and resurrection

Yes, I agree with you, it is not physical, even though we have the fruits of the spirit that everyone can see or observe. That's why you don't know if the woman was baptized in the Spirit or not. So just as you don't have any evidence of water baptism, you have none of her being born of the Spirit. Same thing for the thief on the cross.

So you would rather argue on the grey areas (the things you don't know). You don't know if the thief or the woman was baptized or if they received the Holy Ghost or not.
But you refuse to believe the black and white (the very clear truths). Jesus Christ clearly said that you can't enter His kingdom without baptism. No argument here.
Do you see your problem? You argue over things you don't know instead of accepting what you know.
