You should report it to the school authorities with the evidence.

It's a reflection of the decaying moral decadence in society today.

Students do worse now, so guide your heart as teacher and focus on the serious 20 per cent students.

Call her to the front of the class during your lesson period, talk to her one on one asking her what her answer implies. If she doesn't give any response, advise and caution her never to try that again else, her parents will hear about it. Going straight to the principal as suggested by some people above is wrong. A teacher is a counsellor by default. There are some misdemeanor that you should be able to handle on your own. You can only report to the highest authority when it becomes a recurring issue and you think you cannot handle it alone. Handling some matters on your own gives your learners confidence about you and the can confide in you their personal challenges.

Oga, just mark her test and move on with your life. It is not up to you to do the job of her parents.
Don't waste your time overthinking foolishness. I believe as a teacher in a private school, you are overworked so don't add any more burden upon yourself.
If she fails, she fails. Don't make it your problem.

Why did you give them assignment on Gas law? Gas law is not related to SS2 first term syllabus.

What questions in gas law will make a child answer "Masturbate" outrightly? No question at all.



Or it's one of the stories that never happened?

As an ex teacher, I’ll advise you to make your decisions based on the settings of the school. Do not be hasty.

That year when I was teaching, I disciplined a student and his mother came to arrest me lol. She said the money the boy will eat till he is old is available, that he doesn’t need to learn.

In another event, I reported the child to the principal, Omo na so them sack me and turn the matter for my head based on say the pikin papa dhe contribute to the school.

You are in your early 20s and the person will probably be around 13, 14, 15 years. Max, you will senior that person with 10 years and you want to discipline such person.

Power intoxicates especially in Africa. That's how our parents and grandparents behaved. Now, think about it. There are so many people Makinde senior with age. Do you know Makinde? The gov of Oyo state. Even many senior him with over 20 years and they bow, and some even can worship him. Now, there are even successful people who senior him with 10 years age and they must address him "His excellency". Even his own father will address him his excellency at times.

So, this life isn't where you are. Just do your job. Teach them. Take the matter to the principal...simple. if the person is cool headed, just talk to the person politely. Your job description is to teach and not discipline.

You wey dem suppose dey punish wan punish.

You see this Nigeria... mehn!

If you love yourself and your job,you better don't listen to those people saying report to the principal otherwise they will discipline the student somehow but be sure you are gone! They will send you away.

Yes,they will say you are a distraction to the girls.

If you don't want wahala, always dress like papa when going to work. Be their friends...SS2 are no longer kids,just being open to them,no strictness....then tell her,in a friendly manner to try and concentrate,that in a few years time,she and others will be undergraduates,this and that.....take a risk and give her a position in class like snr girl in physics class or anything and tell her to address class and this will put her in some responsibility kinda spotlight...
