We made our first post here on Nairaland exactly 9 years ago. We had a mission of raising top-notch software developers , even with no prior knowledge in tech. Our founding team, trained in the UK and USA, sacrificed their own opportunities to return home and develop a platform for Nigerians by Nigerians, offering affordable tuition with global standards. Many people had doubts about our mission, but we weren't deterred. Motivated by our core values , DIGITAL (D for discipline, I for integrity, G for grit, I for innovativeness, T for tech-savvy, and L for leadership) , our team got to work and not only accomplished the mission, but did it it par excellence. Today, we have helped hundreds of Moat Academy graduates launch successful careers across Nigeria, the UK, Europe, Canada, the USA, and the Middle East. Meet 54 alumni (a multiple of 9) who’ve transformed their careers through Moat Academy’s Coding Boot Camp and where they are today with their year of graduation from the academy: Fisayo Idowu , Lead Site Reliability Engineer, Interswitch (2017) Mariam Adedeji,Senior Application Engineer. moatacad:The world is getting advanced. You people should learn to do away with this physical learning thing if you truly want to make more impact. Virtual classes should be your priority. |

Excellent. There is nothing quite like proof of success. The alumni appears strong. I am not usually in favour of government direct intervention in private businesses, but this is the sort of establishment a state government can key into. If I was Ondo or Osun state Governor I would be talking to this company and do everything possible to encourage them to site and replicate this in my State. Subsidise their rent, subsidise the students fees, give them direct ongoing access to at least the Secretary of State or even better, the Governor so progress and assistance is monitored. A lot of software work can now be done from anywhere, so if a college of this quality is in Abia, Kaduna etc, there is a good chance that many of its graduates may not need to run to Lagos for employment. That'll be a plus for those states. |

autoez:Programmer Salaries Are Rising as Software Demand Rises OpenAI CEO Sam Altman told a Federal Reserve conference that programmers are seeing dramatic salary increases as artificial intelligence makes them more productive while global demand for software explodes. Speaking at the Capital Framework for Large Banks conference on July 22, Altman said computer programmers are now "10 times more productive" with AI assistance, but rather than threatening their jobs, this productivity boost is driving up their earnings. "The world wants a gigantic amount more software, 100 times maybe a thousand times more software," Altman said, explaining why programmer salaries are "going up extremely rapidly in Silicon Valley" despite AI's capabilities. - Culled from finalroundai Programming skill is a prerequisite to AI, and also the foundation of software development. Developing programming skill is essential to staying to stay relevant in the present and future. |
