So these children become immersed in the British culture and don't ever want to go home again and plus they can be taken from you at anytime by the government and put in foster home. Basically you have no control over your children or the direction of their life anymore. Most likely you are doing 3 shifts so no time for them and they become gangstas in the council estate etc etc etc. basically it's like once you enter that country say goodbye to your kids. They are not yours again and don't want to be yours or follow you to your village. They are council estate gangstas in the making or being bullied in foster homes etc etc. does this ring true or am misinformed |

Did the urchins that made Somtochukwu jump to her death belong to council estates? It's better for them to be raised in England, at least if they commit crimes they will be jailed unlike a jungle where terrorists and bandits take part in security meetings. |

Karlovich:She didn't have to jump. What was she thinking ? Is there a history of mental illness in her family ? It's better to hide under bed. I mean I pray we don't run into societal vermin's but I hope we don't over react if there is no need to |

Children are no properties and can never be owned, this is a fact that any reasonable parent should know. Back to your question, the reality is that children growing up in Nigeria face way more challenges than the children growing up in GB. In Nigeria, children are confronted with the problems of gross inequality in the society, problems of human rights abuses from some government agencies (children in higher Institution being randomly rounded up by the EFCC under the pretext that they are yahoo boys). In GB, you have to be concious of your parental duties to protect your Kids against vulnerability, avoid living in areas with documented high level of anti-social behaviour, get your Kids engaged in produktive extra curricular activities. |

Oh I don’t even want them to ever remember Nigeria. I won’t give them the passport or ever bring them to Nigeria. No nigerian names. Full Spanish names and I will never speak of Nigeria to them. It will just be a desolate waste land their father escaped from and that’s all they need to know. |

define own define children are we discussing legal custody, biological rights, or the inherent ethical implications of treating sentient beings as property the concept of owning another human being is inherently abhorrent. your question betrays a disturbing level of paternalistic control. maybe try treating your children with decency and some morals |

So you want to be able to beat and maltreat your kids with reckless abandon? I know one person that it happened to. She was fond on beating the boy till he ran away from home, police found him wandering on the streets in Birmingham and took the child got taken from her. The child is an adult now and has reconciled with his mother. |

Apogee14:This is why you should live life for yourself rather than your children as your children have their own lives to live when they become adults. It's why you need to spend the money you work for on yourself FIRST Most importantly, it's the reason you should have fewer children. They are not yours again and don't want to be yours or follow you to your village. This village of a thing. Ever since insecurity exacerbated and cost of transport ballooned, how many families still visit their villages alongside their children? For instance, how many times do you think parents from Benue or Cross River who live in Rivers State and Lagos respectively visit their villages? You have your own life to live, so do the children. Yes, leave sound education, training and assets, but understand that they've their own lives to live as adults. |
