In the annals of Nigerian history, the presidency of Bola Ahmed Tinubu is increasingly viewed not as a triumph for the Yoruba people but as a cautionary tale of political betrayal and governance failure. Once hailed as a beacon of southern leadership, Tinubu's tenure has sparked widespread disillusionment across ethnic lines, with many questioning whether he is the last Yoruba to occupy the nation's highest office. Prominent Yoruba figures have openly called for President Tinubu's impeachment, citing a series of missteps and alleged abuses of power. The Yoruba Youth Socio-Cultural Association (YYSA), representing the youth demographic, condemned the impeachment call from a faction of Afenifere, led by Oba Oladipo Olaitan, labeling it "despicable" and "unwarranted." YYSA defended Tinubu's actions, particularly his association with the Chagoury Group in the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway project, as lawful and in the nation's interest. However, this defense is not universal. The Conscience of Yoruba Nation Group, another faction of Afenifere, criticized former President Olusegun Obasanjo's remarks about Tinubu's preparedness, suggesting that such criticism stems from envy and a desire to monopolize southern leadership. They argue that Tinubu's economic reforms, including subsidy removal and currency liberalization, have revitalized Nigeria's economy. The disillusionment with Tinubu's presidency extends beyond the Yoruba community. Ijaw leaders have expressed strong dissatisfaction with the administration, particularly criticizing the handling of state affairs and governance. They have urged President Tinubu to address internal issues and have even challenged his authority, highlighting a significant rift between the federal government and regional leaders. Furthermore, the People's Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, Segun Sowunmi, cautioned President Tinubu against betraying his supporters, emphasizing the importance of trust and loyalty in political leadership. He warned that any perceived betrayal could have lasting consequences for the president's political future. The question arises: Is Tinubu's presidency the last opportunity for a Yoruba leader to ascend to Nigeria's presidency? The widespread criticism from various ethnic groups suggests a deep-seated belief that the Yoruba have failed to deliver on their promises. This sentiment is further fueled by perceptions of betrayal, as many feel that the current administration has not adequately addressed the needs and concerns of all Nigerians. International observers and human rights organizations have also expressed concern over the administration's handling of dissent and activism. The Yoruba Union, Ìgbìnmó Májékóbájé Ilé-Yorùbá, criticized President Tinubu for turning state machinery against peaceful protesters, a move they deemed hypocritical given his own history of activism. They have called for international intervention to address what they describe as "state-sponsored persecution" of activists. As Nigeria approaches the 2027 elections, the legacy of Tinubu's presidency looms large. The widespread calls for impeachment, the accusations of betrayal, and the ethnic divisions that have surfaced suggest a nation grappling with its identity and future. Whether Tinubu's tenure marks the end of Yoruba dominance in Nigerian politics remains to be seen, but the current climate indicates a significant shift in the political landscape. The question now is not just about leadership but about trust, unity, and the direction in which Nigeria is headed. As the nation stands at this crossroads, the need for genuine, inclusive leadership has never been more critical. |

1nice:Between 2015 and 2023 Ibo like you, Mrvitalis, Racoon, Penguin2, CSTRR etc all claimed that a Yoruba man can never be president or vice president of Nigeria ever again after Osinbajo’s Vice Presidency. Guess what, Osinbajo’s tenure ended and Tinubu is now the president. He will also be president till 2031. So you see, Ibos making this type of statement is not new. We will produce the Vice President again in 2031 and then take over from the north after 8 years. You will be here at every point in this journey as usual to make claims like this while the Yorubas and indeed the rest of Nigeria keeps laughing at you. |

Tinubu is denying people economic & social rights through his policies. His punishing economic policies have taken food from the table of most Nigerians; made it impossible for them to pay children’s school fees; thrown them out of employment; made transportation for purposes of earning a decent living virtually impossible. Tinubu has become a promoter of economic policies laying many Nigerians prostrate. The hurricane of economic hardship has spared no one across the six geopolitical zones in Nigeria as people are groaning loudly and endlessly. In places of worship, football stadiums, market places, public parks, palaces, inside buses, the main subject of discussion is on Tinubu and the negative impact of his economic policies. Hence many Nigerians have lost all confidence in the administration. Without a shadow of doubt, Tinubu’s harsh economic policies & their ripple effects is the most existential issue in Nigeria today. In addition to the economic hardships, there is this growing tendency by the Tinubu govt to constrict the democratic space. Many Nigerians see this as a move intended to prevent the emergence of potentially formidable opponents in the next round of elections. But like IBB, Abacha and other dictators the Waterloo will be epic |

As long as Lagos still controls the bulk of the economy of Nigeria, any person in charge of Lagos revenue will still fund his way to the presidency or influence who ever gets that . If you want all that to change , it is a massive and aggressive divestment to either Abuja or the east redirecting financial gravity away from Lagos towards Abuja or, more importantly, the East. This is what I’ve always told those campaigning for Biafra: you don’t win liberation by sitting at home. Boycott Lagos economically, channel your trade, investments, and innovation into the East, and you’ll have your freedom without firing a shot. Focus on building the East, and soon, you won’t even crave separation the power will already be yours |

Oh, I forgot to add kettykin to my initial list on this thread because I couldn’t remember his username. Glad he came out to wail even without my prompting. Seems the dude is finally accepting the reality of Yoruba exceptionalism. |

I do agree that Tinubu may be the last Yoruba president in Nigeria, not because of his corrupt actions and draconian policies but because of the complicity of the Yoruba people and the role they played in supporting the attrocities of his government. A typical example of what I mean is the comment made by seunmsg a yoruba man below and other comments/actions of the yoruba people in support of Tinubu's bad government. Nigerians from other tribes are watching and taking notes of who the yoruba people are, what they represent and their shared values especially when it comes to hate, tribalism, truth, justice and national inclusivity. Just like how Buhari's presidency exposed the hypocrisy of the fulanis, Tinubu's terrible tribalistic government will cause the yorubas irreparable national damage as no Nigerian from other tribe may ever trust or want to support a Yoruba presidency again after 2031 if Tinubu rigs the 2027 election successfully. Posterity will always be the final judge after all is said and done. seunmsg: |

seunmsg:Do you think we are joking here, if you do not know me or you want to know me that is your concern. I do not collect bribe and do not bother to reach someone close to me to give me your bribe. Like send me 20 million naira into my bank account, that is your business. I am not like most exam invigilators that you think you can bribe. Tinubu is the last yoruba president of Nigeria. |

seunmsg:For your information, it is not "Ibos" but "Igbos". Yes I did pray and evisage a despicable humanity like Tinubu never became president but of course he was thrust there reluctantly by the likes of Buhari, El-Rufai and others. Now the nation is standing @ this precipice. Posterity has a lesson for all to learn. Mind you, there are many Yorubas of conscience who also detest the baggage of criminality e.g. -1). It is okay for you to have your victory dance once more in 2027 but note that it may be your last as far as Yoruba presidency is concerned. Nigerians especially in the north will never support it again. seunmsg: |

seunmsg:Lessons have been learnt. If atiku and Obi had ran on a single platform, your tinubu would not have been president. Though I understand that it is irrelevant now, but facts are still facts. Even with that, despite running with the party of the incumbent, and with the enormous funds behind him, it was a narrow victory for him, losing both lagos and abuja. So if you think your candidate is popular, think again. He will probably win 2027. He has the power of incumbency and atiku /obi has not united on a single ticket to pose any serious challenge. As for 2031, a yoruba VP victory is impossible. Any party that attempts that will lose woefully. I can assure you of that. |

seunmsg:Let's see what your Tinubu's tax policy will do for you and for him next year and how Nigerians will react towards it. Last election, when I told many of you that he was going to lose in Lagos, your emotion blinded your eyes to the realities on ground untill it happened. Thank God that El-rufia and co came to help him out in the north. With his terrorist games in the north and mishandling of the Nnamdi Kanu issues in the south east, it's getting clearer that I will laugh at your political calculations again. I expect most of you to continue hyping him and keep yourself happy till his final date in office. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 |

Morenikeji090:They are never to be taken seriously because their fantasies and projections are that and that alone. No more no less. Is this not how they claimed "no Fulani will ever rule Nigeria again" before the 2015 election when they thought they were the new owners of Nigeria courtesy of GEJ's Presidency? Today their delusional claim is that Tinubu is the last Yoruba President of Nigeria. Meanwhile Atiku is busy telling the world Yorubas will form the majority of his cabinet if he becomes President. A major diss and snub to Kenneth Okonkwo and many Igbos sniffing around Atiku while he speaks to show he knows those who are important and worth courting. These people are childish fantasists, with nil emotional intelligence,no sensible adult will ever take seriously. |
