US Police Post Photo Of Suspect Who Abandoned Baby With Umbilical Cord by BlackViper(op): 5:10pm On Oct 21, 2025

The New York Police Department (NYPD) is searching for a suspect who was caught on camera before allegedly abandoning a baby girl who was found alive at Penn Station in Manhattan Monday morning.

"The baby is in a stable condition and remains at Bellevue Hospital. The investigation is ongoing as officers look for video footage," the NYPD confirmed to Fox News Digital.

According to police reports, the infant was discovered around 9:30 a.m. local time on the stairway leading to the southbound No. 1, 2, and 3 trains at the 34th Street–Penn Station stop.

Officials were alerted after an anonymous caller reported seeing the baby left unattended on the steps at West 34th Street and 7th Avenue.

When first responders from the FDNY and NYPD arrived, they found the baby wrapped in a blanket, conscious and alert. The baby was then taken to Bellevue Hospital.

According to FOX 5, the baby was found with her umbilical cord still attached and wrapped only in a sheet, but was alert and conscious.

Investigators are now reviewing surveillance footage from Penn Station in hopes of identifying who left the baby there.

As of Tuesday morning afternoon, no arrests had been made, but police released an image of the suspect. The identity of the infant’s parents remains unknown.

Per New York’s Safe Haven Law, parents are allowed to legally and safely surrender newborns at hospitals, police precincts, or fire stations without facing criminal charges as long as the child is left in the care of responsible personnel.

The baby was taken to a local hospital for evaluation, the NYPD said.

She looks African born based on her dressing, but she could also be Caribbean. Even if African, definitely not Nigerian because a Nigerian will not travel to the US, have unprotected sex, carry the baby for 9 months, birth them, then drop them off at a Train station. Besides, NY is a sanctuary city so dropping the baby at the hospital would’ve been a safe choice if she was undocumented.

If she’s Nigerian, she most likely applied for a visa, got interviewed and flew on an airplane, so she is most likely enlightened not some street teenager. She won’t pay shishi in any hospital in NY, they’ll only send her a bill which she’ll most likely never pay. The situations are completely different. US is not like Nigeria where they ask you for deposit. In fact, by law, they can’t discharge her from the hospital to the streets if she doesn’t have a safe place to go back to. She’ll be taken care of at the hospital.

I sat for 15 minutes for routine check up, and saw they posted $350! Since that day, I vowed to stay healthy. grin

I didn't check the hospital for one full year. The insurance company just refunded $48, which I ended up using for haircut.

My insurance paid over $100k for hospital bill. Not a penny came from me. So I don’t know what you are talking about.
No dey carry Nigeria mentality operate for US. You need insurance one way or another.

Back to the topic. There is a law in US that any pregnant woman must be given medical care in any emergency without regard to her ability to pay. So this might not be about payment issue.

If you go to hospital on emergency nobody will ask you for money they will save your life first then payment later if you don't have an insurance. The bill might be high but at least you are alive and you can negotiate the payment and also make payment plans. I am talking from experience. Stop talking about where you have never lived, you cannot get all information on the Internet or on the news.
