A video circulating on social media has sparked outrage after hungry Nigerians mobbed a luxury bus carrying Mamelodi Sundowns football players and staff of South Africa. The footage shows the South African team tossing leftover food to the desperate crowd.

The drama unfolded at MKO Abiola Stadium in Abeokuta, Ogun State as Mamelodi Sundowns exited the venue after a resounding 5–1 victory over Remo Stars of Abeokuta in the first leg of the CAF Champions League on Sunday.

Many social media users attributed the incident to the country’s widespread hunger crisis.

The hunger is really very serious.
Yesterday I used the last money I had to buy rice beans and otter ingredients to cook, I managed the food from yesterday till this morning, since it was my Last food and there was no hope, I didn't want to eat it in the morning, but leave it till afternoon or even evening. Fear dey even catch me to eat am. But e don already dey smell, it was getting bad already. Life just tire me . I had to eat it before it would go bad completely. As I was eating it, I was eating with fear and worry about where the next one will come from.

I was just asking God, God what kind of life is this? The fear alone didn't even make me to settle down and enjoy the food. It's painful. I'm going to bed on an empty stomach tonight and no hope for tommorow either 🥲

There's absolutely no logical reason why Nigerians should be going through severe hunger and starvation with the abundant resources in the country. Sadly, there are millions of families who are going through the same predicament like you.

Nigeria has never had it this bad

Imagine! Hunger gone so bad that it is the xenophobic South Africa local football club that is coming to salvage them from the emilokan inflicted hunger hardship they are denying.

Ebinpawa have gone international now from the same region of sophisticated baba soope politics of oppression, suppression and repression but hear no evil and say no evil. 2027 is here already. Keep on standing on an the mandate.

Very shameful, on his mandate we shall all stand until everyone gets sense. Let's keep pretending and sounding politically correct until things get out of hands

Mamelodi Sundown, including Al hali, esperance, where all in Aba during the tenure of Obasanjo to face the Enyimba FC of Aba and they were like any other person in the streets of Aba.
Fast forward to Tinubu's govt, see the way they masses in Abeokuta were begging for left over foods from fellow Africans. This is the height of national embarrassment and an evidence that all is not well with Nigeria.Yet some online paid touts will be hyping a total failure....my heart bleeds for Nigeria, how did we get to this all time low. These are issues Abike dabiri should be worried about,it seems many Nigerians live like IDPs in their country. We now prefer politics than the real issues on ground, what a shame!

Even when most of them are selling Gala and soft drink?

There is nothing that depicts people scrambling for food any more than appreciating the visitors kindness.

It a pity that the opposition we have today are not intelligent and smart.

Take a look at the picture below and tell us what is happening?! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
