That's the spirit bro. You are 70% in if you got the background check mail.

Like previously advised, take your mind off it, even though that's a very hard task. Keep the search on, and know you've officially moved to Lagos, with or without Chevron.

All the best bro.

Wow, I am famous here now 🎉.
I really appreciate you guys fam.

Honestly, all the responses here made me feel heard, and like I am not alone.
I appreciate guys!

Yeah, for the ones that pointed out I took a big risk getting an apartment, honestly you are right. That was an impulsive decision I didn't think through at the time.

I also appreciate the advice on not waiting on Chevy forever. I just need to put myself together and start job hunting with real zeal again. Kind of sad, but reality is reality.

I hope this works out by the way. I would keep you guys posted if/when Chevron decides to respond.

Thanks guys ✌️

Indeed, apparently you ain't the only one in this situation. Came across a post on twitter where a candidate was asking people to help beg Chevy to conclude the recruitment of more than a year. I think he's one of the earliest to do medicals. All same, this wasn't expected from an IOC like Chevron and like you rightly mentioned, recruitment process can be a red flag about a company's culture. ExxonMobil started a recruitment in July and concluded by Sept. Peeps resumed in Oct-this month. A company's culture>>>>

Oh really? Is there any update from your friend after the medicals as regards resumption?

inibro:
I don’t know if this information is valid for all roles but my friend who applied for the Senior Facilities Engineer position has done interview, medicals and background check

This is not a good mindset. People get jobs everytime without connections. How would you win the lottery if you don't buy the ticket?

I agree with you that people get jobs without connection. Even the people that got at Chevron might have gotten without connection, but they are not interested in any more intakes at this point.
It is just a pity they didn't communicate to people they rose their hopes by allowing them do medicals.
Shame on them for this level of disrespect.

I read somewhere here about a guy that quit his job and rented an apartment in Lagos.
Take heart brother. I sympathize with you, but it is the game, they don't want you anymore. Sad, but accept the truth and move on.

My source is common sense. 1 year and counting!!!
Open your eyes bro. It is this kind of hope that kills one spirit!
Re: 2024 Chevron Nigeria Experienced Professional Recruitment by ValeignNurt: 11:19am On Nov 09, 2025
Like think about it, if an organization say they need some hires, and can go one year without the new hires, in this era of capitalism, what is the motivation for them to employ them anymore. After all, they can achieve the same output with their current work force.

When did common sense become an authoritative source. You were talking as if you are HR.

I reached out to someone inside and he explained this delay is due to internal reorganisation. So if you don't have a valid source it's best to just sit it out rather than dishing out information based on gut feelings.

It's possible it's not an urgent recruitment, probably more of a succession plan. It's not like they are in urgent need. It's possible.

If you don't have a valid information from a reliable source just sit it out. Don't give wrong information based on gut feelings. It's not smart.

If you have valid information from a reliable source it is welcome.

Alright, I would remind you in 1 year when some people are still waiting to be hired.
I personally hope that you guys get the role though, because God knows at this point it is deserved for those that waited.

Not to burst your bubble, but once medicals are done, it’s only a matter of when, not if. The reorganization is complete, yet combined with the NMA SBU HR Director’s recent retirement, it understandably caused delays. The new HR head still needs to review pending files and finalize approvals. Slow or not, the process is on track, and those called up will speak for themselves.

Lol, understandably ,😂😂.
With all due respect sir, one year is not understandably. Also nothing is guaranteed until offer letter is in your hands. I insist these guys have stopped this recruitment.
Their lack of communication says it all.

Why are you so bothered about the exercise? You said it yourself that you didn't bother to show up for the interview, so let those with hope continue to hope. Don't cry more than the bereaved.

You just said my mind. I know he was not even called for interview, He said he is using common sense, one year experience common sense. So you can see a baby of one year common sense talking and you want to waste your time with him. Leave him to continue using his one year common sense to talk, when he finish he will go and sleep

A host of factors could be responsible for this pause/hold-up.
The mail they sent on the 18th of June this year was a sign that we’re in for a long ride. Even if it takes them years, which is not uncommon for companies in the upstream industry, they will still conclude this recruitment.
Best bet: carry on with your life…

Was this email sent to (1) all, or (2) folks that were interviewed, or (3) folks that had background check and medicals?

I think it was to all. Additionally because you get background check mail doesn’t mean you’ll get medicals. Multiple people got Background check mail but didn’t get medicals.
