Burning Of Our Ekiti Office Shows APC Jittery Over ADC Popularity – Abdullahi by Ofunaofu(op): 5:24am On Oct 22, 2025
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has condemned the burning of its Ekiti State office in Ado-Ekiti, describing it as a calculated act of political intimidation aimed at silencing the opposition.

In a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the party said the attack occurred just hours before its planned “Reconfiguration and Affirmation Ceremony.”

Abdullahi said the incident was a deliberate attempt to terrorize the opposition ahead of the state’s governorship election. He called the attack “criminal and undemocratic,” saying it was a disgrace to anyone who claims to believe in democracy and political freedom.

The party said this was not an isolated case, noting that its offices and members had faced similar attacks in Kaduna, Lagos, Kebbi, Kogi, and Edo States since the Opposition Coalition declared ADC its preferred platform in July.

Abdullahi said such repeated incidents formed “a dangerous pattern” that should worry everyone.

He also criticized the authorities for their silence, saying any government that ignores attacks on opposition parties is inviting chaos.

Abdullahi said the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) was behind the attacks because it feared the growing influence of the ADC.

He explained that the party’s popularity was rising among Nigerians who were tired of the failures of the current administration.

According to him, the fire in Ekiti only proved that the APC was worried about ADC’s growing support.

“The fire in Ekiti is further confirmation that the APC is afraid of the rising wave of the ADC.”

The ADC called on security agencies to investigate the incident and ensure those responsible are punished. It also urged INEC, civil society groups, and international observers to pay close attention to the situation.

Despite the attack, Abdullahi said the party’s planned event in Ekiti would still go on.

He added that even if they had to hold it outdoors, the ceremony would proceed, stressing that violence would not stop the ADC from moving forward.

ADC is inconsequential in Ekiti politics.
Nobody needs to intimidate you to win elections.
You guys are feeling too important.
Even El-Rufai and Atiku the so-called political heavy weights that moved to your party are not confident enough to pick up party membership cards

As long as they keep acting with impunity and taunting the masses, surely.

One of them is up there asking if ADC is a party, without condemning the heinous act as a human being first.

Bolaji Abdullahi, no one is jittery of ADC.

So far, ADC has not won any seats on off cycle elections. Even Atiku has not officially decamped. He even complained that detractors leaked his PDP resignation letter. Why hide his resignation?

El Rufai too has not decamped. Even after the last meeting where the national executive instructed those hobnobbing with them to decamp, no one heeded the call. Mrs Ireti Kingibe who announced her decamping on social media has failed to announce same on the floor of the senate.

ADC is obviously an experiment. Those promoting it are unsure. If they could not organize in Labour Party and PDP, how can they organize in ADC?

ADC cannot win the 2027 elections. Currently, the party is not organized to be competitive. Their spokesman is also shallow on policy but loud on conspiracies.

If ADC poses no threat to the APC... Why the attacks ?

APC have looked into the crystal ball 🔮🔮🔮

They see this ADC as their Terminator..

Sincerely your party do not deserve to exist because everybody in your gang are same ones who have by one way or the other put Nigeria in these sorry state so you can't come now to tell anybody you are the best but that does not mean your secretariat should be attack I'm not in support of that at all.

Genuine fighters for democracy are different from balablu serial betrayers like Tinubu.

My dad, victim of complex conspiracy – Kola Abiola

What role did Bola Tinubu play in all of these?

At the very beginning, he was part of the Yar’Adua PF group from Jos. He was a senator then, and as far as the group went, we related. The crisis started post-election. When Abacha came, one of the things he wanted to do was to be the administrator for Lagos.

That is Tinubu?

Yes. I am sure you have seen pictures of him and my dad. He was hoping that there would be civilian administrators like we had under IBB but Abacha said no, that he was going to have military administrators. So he (Tinubu) said okay, in that case, can I be a deputy administrator? But Abacha said that there wouldn’t be deputies. Then he wanted the post of a commissioner.

He wanted to be a commissioner?

Yes. Then it was a choice between him and someone very close to Jakande who has passed on now. I can’t remember his name, but because Babagana was already in the government, that guy was picked as commissioner. But really, Senator Tinubu had lost out already.

Was Tinubu very close to MKO?

Yes, he was close enough. He and Adeniyi Adele, a very good guy, were close to my father. In fact, Adeniyi was closer to my father and more dedicated to the process than anyone of them. When my documentary comes out, you will see Tinubu’s take on issues. So once he lost out, automatically, he became a NADECO member and Adeniyi was incarcerated.

[quote author=Lanrelagboi post=133655707]Lagos has now crossed the 3 Trillion Naira annual budget mark. Crossed 2 Trillion in 2024.

Memory Lane: the first full-year Lagos State budget (Year 2000) in the 4th Republic was in the region of 40-something billion Naira. And it was described as “unprecedented” back then.

How will taking away your freedom to influence governance, by indisciplined soldiers going to help you get a better country?

Are we not a rotten country of extreme poverty paupers and out of school children because five indisciplined Majors derailed democracy in their failed January 1966 coup attempt? How are we similar to Pakistanis and different from Indians who never derailed democracy since 1947?

Have we not recycled military dictators Obasanjo and Buhari for 16 years of the first 24 years of the return to democracy? What did they achieve?

Instead of being hopeless to the point of wishing for military dictatorship, why don’t you invest more in democracy, assuming that you are involved already huh
