The pregnant woman who was banished from Ugbema community in Buruku Local Government Area of Benue State over alleged theft has given birth to a baby girl.

If actually she committed the crime, the consequence hasn't changed but the innocent baby should be taken care of. Those who banished her should accept her again because of the baby.

My comment doesn't in any way suggests bias in fighting crimes.

So, what do you have against the comment? Or, you just can't make your comment without quoting another comment that neither agrees nor disagrees with your own comment?

Not every Thief caught is a career Thief, too much unbearable hunger in this country.

Is banishing a constitutional punishment for theft or stealing? especially considering that she is heavy with a baby.This is funny in our nation .

Hunger must have pushed her to steal looking at her circumstances she was pregnant. They should just helpe her get back to the community with her baby she deserves second chance to live in the community

He who is without sin should be the first to cast a stone. Humans are quick to prosecute others, when their sins are worse.

If her theft was negligible (probably due to hunger and lack), then banishment is too much of a punishment. SHe should go back to her people in this delicate time when she just gave birth.

What if she stole because she needed to take care of herself and the pregnancy?

Even the Bible says if a thief steals to satisfy his hunger he must not be punished.

Really disheartening, the local government authority has the obligation to shelter and make provision for her and children, after she was sent out from the community.

I hope she gets supports to continue her life in a different location and her children get better start in life.

They didn't banish ritualist and kidnappers but banishing her.

Did she killed anybody or committed witchery? If yes it's the job of the law enforcement agency duty but if she was bannishd because of adultery all that banished her would beee arrested soon.

She should not have been banished and the punishment is wrong. It should be outlawed.
Anyone backing this punishment is a Neanderthals and cavemen because it is inhuman to tell someone to leave their home area because of theft. It is 1910 Garbage that does not belong in today's society.

Hence the reason no competent court of law will issue such a punishment that is a clear violation of fundamental human right.

Where is she to go after the banishment? Even ridiculous you suggest they should now accept her back because of the child when she should not have been sent away to begin with.

Ridiculous. Never heard of such a thing. It makes one's blood boil. Imagine having a child in some bush with no anaesthetic or even minimal comfort and then risk of infection, complications etc. She and the baby could have died. The whole thing is so repellent and backward.

Therefore, crime should be allowed to fester because the politicians have theirs? Since the kidnapper are running amok, what is the ratio of politicians and the poor kidnapped or killed. The community probably come up with some laws to reduce crime in their areas that may not have the presence of security agents and here you are doing your usual "Whataboutism " probably because the person the sledge hammer touched is a woman
