Chandigarh Police’s Cyber Crime arrested a Nigerian national, Ifeanyi Christian Ifesinachi, in Delhi for his role in a fake friendship/dating fraud case. The accused posed as a U.S. citizen named "Stanley" and tricked a Chandigarh resident into transferring ₹6.08 lakh, claiming he was detained at Mumbai Airport and needed money for customs. Modus operandi: The accused used fake digital identities (often switching gender personas) to deceive victims across India. Role He operated the scam, managed communications, bank accounts, and coordinated withdrawals through associates. Recoveries: 4 mobile phones (35 active Gmail accounts), 15 SIM cards, 3 debit cards, 5 bank passbooks, 1 expired Nigerian passport.
