The people that called LAGOS a no mans land was not even part of the Lagos right from inception. People from the south East has no history with people from the South West.

So Hausa have looooong been indigenes of Lagos state. And they aren't making noise about it. They have every right to demand for a local government of their own in Lagos.

72.65% na Yoruba.

Where those people wey develop lagos? grin
This really tells us how far tribes like the Igbos have come in Lagos, from owning 0% of Lagos back then to now controlling an enviable piece of the city, that's a great thing and we encourage it. Others can do the same.

Because they was no Nigeria then, the South East was a country of its own then known as Republic of Biafra with strong economy and trade and no need to come to Lagos, until Nigeria was later created and that Biafran buoyant economy was destroyed out of envy, their seaport was destroyed to favour Lagos. So they moved to Lagos to use the seaport to import and export their goods, and so doing there developed Lagos to what it is today.
Which port were they using before then?

Again the Eastern region was never a region pre amalgamation and it was never called Biafria.

That tells you that change is the only constant thing. A lot has changed since 130 years. Ownership has been changing hands. And it is a good thing.

I am surprised there are no Binis in Lagos but there are Hausas and Nupes
The reason why there are Nupes in Lagos then was that the Nupes once conquered Lagos from Yorubas and when they were eventually chased away, their remnants remains.

Thank you MOD for this.
It sets the record straight

You don't know anything about Lagos. Smh.

Lagos has never been for sale.

None of the strategic asset has been sold outside these groups. It's still within the family. The state takes over some of the strategic assets rather than allow it go to outsiders wink

Btw, when CofO was later invented, we insisted it must have expiry date.
Imagine Lagos back in 1891 then think of Lagos today. Again imagine Lagos in the next 100 years. What can you notice? The so called outsiders are getting stronger, richer, owning property, getting more numerous.
In 100 years time, people will find it hard to believe that the so called outsiders were less than 50% in 2025. Just as many are finding it hard to believe that the outsiders were 0% in 1891.
We can't stop the progress.

Which one is foundational census? First census when the colonial masters had arrived is now the foundation of Lagos. Eko people take back your city from thieves. Igbos are business people but these people coming up with manupulative census are out to suppress you. You now know who wants to take Lagos.

But it is clear that everyone there was from different places.
Meaning there is absolutely nothing like "Lagosian" but a confederation of people from different places.

Abi you decided to overlook the stats and just make a comment?
Lagos (or Eko Tribe): 23.6%
Popo (Ogu-Badagry axis): 15.9%.

They was Port Harcourt seaport and the most vibrant one was that in Sapele .Sapele was like Lagos seaport of today. It was a very buoyant .

Every ibo importers were using Sapele in Delta state, until it was destroyed by Nigerian government to favour Lagos seaport. Import and Export was done in Sapele by most ibo businesses. That's the reason they moved to Lagos. Sapele is the reason. They was Calabar seaport too.

90% of the population are Yoruba and you still struggle to comprehend it. You think any part of Yorubaland is 100% like your villages? Even the population of Abeokuta, Badagry, Ibadan at that time were more diverse than Lagos division.

You mean to tell me that in 1891, there were no Igbo in Lagos, but today, Lagos is the 6th Igbo state? Wow, the Igbos should be studied. This is how to take over peacefully.
