tctrills:You're still ignorant about Lagos. Whatever you buy will not be strategic and it reverts to the family and state after 99 years we believe that you have recouped great returns from your investment. The real owner can decide not to renew your 'rent'. At the core of this is that Lagos will never be for sale. Even land owned by FG must revert soon as FG stops using it. OredoPikin2:Smh. Ordinary Gelege that is under your LG, you can't collect from the Ijaw, it's now a part of the far more powerful Yorubaland that you want to collect? Small yansh dey shake jmoore:Continue. Smh. You will learn too late that Lagos doesn't belong to "nobody'. Old Federal secretariat is still lying fallow till date just because of your kind of recklessness. |

tctrills:It applies to Ghana, Benin Republic, Togo, Burkinafaso, Ivory Coast and many countries, yes Niger Republic........ Yorubas have been living very peaceful with the indigenes for more than a century, when no Igbo ever lived in their midst. That is another attestation to the FACT on ground. And at that time, you hardly find Nigerians in their prisons. Unlike now that these countries are flooded by Igbos. |

It clearly shows that Lagos has always been the home of all Yorubas irrespective of where you come from in Yoruba land. No wonder an osun man can be governor there. ![]() |

What's the relevance of all these kind of info. To cause another round of online fights from that tribe where their home is in desolation and they are trying to claim and develop everywhere else? |

No igbos there at that time. Now that they were invited they start to claim that it is no man’s land |

Softmirror:We are not complaining about being prisoners. It's beautiful to witness how things are changing. The Igbos are becoming the most influential people in cities and countries where they had zero presence 100 years ago. I call this growth and progress. It is a good thing, and we all should applaud it. Now imagine Lagos in the next 30 years. It is going to be incredible. |

chatinent:Normally, Yorubas from outside Lagos State beat the drums of war about who owns Lagos State. |
| Re: The Results Of The 1891 Census Of Lagos Indigenes by ARISHEM: 10:42am On Oct 23, 2025 |
The Yoruba wars especially the Kiriji wars at that time was what made indigenes from other south western states to migrate to Lagos. |

FreeStuffsNG:My brother, let's wait until then. In 99 years, we will see what will happen. But for now, let's enjoy the progress of a people who had nothing in Lagos 100 years ago, and today, they have made the city their own. This is a beautiful story, and we all should applaud it. It tells you that as a people, you can achieve anything as long as you remain hardworking and driven. |

Toluwanise247:Lol.... ![]() Igbo has always been in existence; when this census was conducted, the Igbo were still in the Sahara desert trekking towards Nigeria from Israel their ORIGINAL COUNTRY of birth 😁😁😁😁😁 |

chatinent:People that are claiming igbo land today migrated from somewhere. Wr are the real indigenes of Lagos, my fore fathers migrated hundreds of years ago from Oyo and were with Kosoko when he moved from Lagos to Epe. Lagos is ours and no one can change that. |

Commentor:Oh yes, I guess you purposely ignored the timeline of that census and decided to map that question to our present-day society. Even cosmopolitan London and New York at that time were 99% Caucasian, 99.9% Christian, and 99.9% English. The 1%, or 0.01%, were basically traders, and those were at the fringes of the port areas. In 1891, communities were totally homogenous. The only differences in these communities were the Caucasian colonial masters. Apart from that, if a Yoruba man travelled to Kano, I know what an Uthman Danfodiyo would do. If a Hausa man travelled to Calabar, I know what the pot of soup would have been made of. Tell the truth, there was no one there in Lagos. No Yoruba community is ever known to be riverine only in Ondo. No Yoruba community ever thrived or built their communities near the riverines. |

tctrills:By design and our upbringing, Lagos will welcome you with a warm embrace. We are genuinely happy to see you flourish and prosper in Lagos. If our forebears didn't build it, you will not have a Lagos today and if they didn't raise us to welcome strangers, you will not call Lagos home. There are parts of your region who are hostile to visitors and don't even rent out land to strangers. If you like ignore the reality that Lagos intentionally will never be for sale ![]() |
| Re: The Results Of The 1891 Census Of Lagos Indigenes by Nwaikpe: 10:48am On Oct 23, 2025 |
Lukuluku69:Meaning that no one owned the place. Everyone came from their different places and claimed the land since it became a thriving sea port. Abi? If you want to know what ownership means, check the census of Oyo State in that year. Then you would discover that at that time, ALL COMMUNITIES were homogeneous. |

FreeStuffsNG:Funny that you are making claims over facts. "Lagos division." ![]() Where do you think the name Lagos came from? I guess you don't know it came from the people who started the town and made it Portuguese. So, a people lived there, had a city, and didn't have a name? What is Eko? Why didn't the Protuguese see it and call it Eko if it ever existed? ![]() |
