I listen to the condescending tone. But more importantly, I observe the aggression, arrogance and combativeness. In as much as Sowore may feel his right is being trampled upon, those officers were the bigger people in this video. One thing I'm most grateful for is that I didn't fall into the hype to vote this guy before I got the chance to scrutinize him. He is not in any way different from the folks he is fond of criticising. Only difference between him and them is opportunity.

Omoyele's spoken-Yoruba is very fluent in the video. The Apoi folks have strong Yoruba influences on them in their first and last names and more.

I saw a video in late 2024 where Omoyele Sowere from Kiribo in Ese Odo LGA clearly stated at a gathering that a lot of people mistake him for a Yoruba (because he speaks Yoruba language as an Apoi and because of his Yoruba names which Apoi people bear in their community), BUT he emphatically stated in that short YouTube video that he is an Ijaw.

The Apoi people in Ondo no doubt bear Yoruba names (but with some Ijoid influences), speak fluent Yoruba, being in direct proximity to the Ilaje-Yorubas who are of pure Ile-Ife descent from centuries back. There is another account I read online that the Apoi are descendants of Yorubas who embarked on fishing expeditions towards the Bayelsa area and lived there to form the Apoi group before reversing back to settle in the midst of the Ilajes who are dominant in that area. This probably explains why the Apoi bear pure Yoruba names, speak Yoruba, but still have some Ijoid influences due to their long stay in the Central Ijaw waters area. The Arogbos are much more of Ijaws and they ALSO migrated from the Arogbo clan in the Bayelsa area on fishing expeditions around the Niger Delta area where they settled in other people's fishing communities for fishing. So, the Bayelsa area is where the Apoi and the Arogbo-Ijaw came from and they still exist there.

But bloodthirsty bandits and Bokoharam that have killed scores of innocent citizens are being offered amnesty everytime , even having the guts to attend amnesty and peace talks with Ak 47.
The president is granting pardons to murderers and kidnappers. I am not saying Nnamdi kalu is innocent or doesn't have blood on his hands but lets not be biased and he should be treated equally and given another opportunity for the sake of peace.
Especially because miscreants took the opportunity of his detention to fuel insecurity in the east.

Omoyele is NOT the same person we used to know back in the day (late 1980s to early 1990s) when he was an active UNILAG student union leader right into the 2000s when Sahara Reporters was a credible source of investigative information. BUT it's now filled with a lot of half-truths and hate speech that require constant fact-checks.

In terms of emotional intelligence, Omoyele Sowere has lost that quality otherwise he wouldn't be verbally defaming people relentlessly like he's been doing. If Omoyele gets into real political power, he'll most definitely become a ruthless dictator like some former activists we know from other countries who ended up being ruthless dictators as well.

The policemen conducted themselves properly and acted professionally even when Sowore was dictating the conditions for his arrest and teasing the officers. That should be commended as well.

Looking at my crystal ball, I saw this coming.

Most Ignorant Nigerians cannot separate activism from criminality.

They inadvertently mistake activism for wokeness or a license to be above the laws of the land.

Some are already asking for what offense was So-werey arrested and I shook my head at their blatant ignorance.

So-werey would find out soon enough that his offenses are myriad.

For now, it's good to put a stop to his public nuisance.
