I hope those that defended the incursion of sharia into South west are seeing this? Like Mordecai told Queen Esther, " don't think you are safe because you are in a palace"

Sharia court taking and selling off the property of a christian is an aggression. Soon they will order the amputation of the hand of a christian. I expect CAN, NBA etc to say something and defend this man's right.

It's very disturbing, there's no reason a muslim Sharia Court should be operating in Abuja the nation’s capital let alone handle cases involving Christians
I truly wonder how that came about. How are citizens not aware that Sharia is operational in Abuja, the federal capital. No wonder the struggle to bring Sharia to Oyo state and the refusal of the state government.

However, the man can appeal and hopefully get justice.

well he should sue them in normal court and use force to hold his property .

Also , he should endeavour to pay off his debt .

before you challenge he court ask the debtor the following question
1 how much are you owning
2 for how long 3 what is the repayment plan 4 what is the value of your property 5 did you receive any balance after he property has been sold 6 did you use your property as a surety after the answer i can continue with more question

How will Nigeria be, if every religion have laws in states where they wield influence, is that not a call to ridiculing our justice system, and create disaffection and chaos?

The justice system is there to defend the weak and the innocent, we can't leave justice to the hands of religious men in a secular nation, we have seen the hypocrisy and lies of religious men. We must live and abide by the constitution of this federal republic, this is what we are bound by, having religious laws in a secular nation is a way to animosity and chaos. We say we want peace we must act like it.

A country that has two different laws is talking about renewed hope? 😁
We also have customary courts which are different from the regular secular courts..they apply laws based on native law and custom..ie pre,- colonial laws. They are the southern and in some parts of the north counterpart to sharia law.

So, three legal systems

A Christian, or any non-Muslim cannot be compelled to appear before a Sharia Court or have his property or rights adjudicated under Islamic law. Our constitution is very clear on this, it's only for Muslims who have consented to the jurisdiction of the Sharia Court.
Abuja ideally shouldn't have a Sharia Court from the moment it became the capital of Nigeria.
Cry your lawyer gown and wig and go to Court. No be Cho Cho Cho for internet

Cry well well. Any Court, be it Shariah, Customary or High Court can auction your property if you are proven to be a heartless chronic debtor

Are you saying the judges of the Sharia court don't know their jurisdiction? Don't try to sugarcoat it, what they did is unlawful and unconstitutional.
Baba, I know for a fact that the Sharia is only applicable in judging between Muslims. It is clearly stated in the Penal Codes which is operational in the Northern part of Nigeria.

In this case, I think we don't have the full details of the case other than this man video and words. Justice demands we hear from both sides before you judge otherwise we will be part of the problem.

Obviously there are details we dont know about this case.

The man should get a Lawyer who I believe knows what to do.

Calm down Mr. Nwosu, let the South West fight their fight.

As for the man, he is not coming clear on the full details. Sharia Court will never touch a Non-Muslim property in any judgement between two disputing Muslims.

Sharia courts have and should not have jurisdiction over non-muslims. When people were crying of Christian genocide in Nigeria, most of you were saying otherwise.

The shariah court has jurisdiction once one party is a Muslim

A shocking video circulating online via Arise TV shows a Christian man in Abuja weeping over the loss of his building, claiming it was sealed and sold off by the Sharia Appeal Court Gudu in Abuja despite him having a title deed, not a Muslim and shouldn't have anything to do with a Sharia Court.

Arise TV anchors condemned the act, blaming Tinubu’s Muslim-Muslim ticket for emboldening muslim Sharia Court overreach in the nation’s capital. They argued that a Muslim Sharia Court has no place in the Federal capital territory, Abuja since Nigeria is a secular state.
Everyone can now see that Nigeria problem is Islam and Mohammed is to blame.

Meanwhile when are we establishing Christian court in Nigeria?

If Nigeria is not a shari'a country what's the use of shari'a court?

But it doesn't cater for the legal needs of muslims. Christians also have the freedom to get their courts. I think it's in progress.
