Dividing Nigeria Won't Solve Our Problem. Addressing The Real Issue by OredoPikin2(op): 10:47am On Oct 24, 2025
Dividing Nigeria won't solve the country's problems. The root issue isn't tribalism, but rather bad leadership. If Nigeria were to break into smaller countries, each fragment would likely face similar challenges.

Take Ekiti, Imo, Delta, or Sokoto states, for example. They're led by people from their respective regions, yet the outcomes aren't significantly different. The same applies to local governments.

Those advocating for division should look inward. What have their leaders achieved at the state or local level? The same individuals currently in power would likely seek leadership positions in any new, fragmented country.

The problem lies with the people, not the country's structure. An average Nigerian tends to prioritize personal interests over collective progress. Our diversity should be a strength, not a wedge to divide us.

Dividing Nigeria won't address the underlying issues. Instead, we should focus on cultivating good leadership and accountability at all levels of government.

Dividing Nigeria will solve at least 85% of our problem.

Nigeria main problem is not leadership, Nigeria main problem is we don't share common value system.

What makes a great nation are people that share common value system.
The way Igbo man thinks is not the way yoruba man thinks, the way yoruba man thinks,is not the Way Hausafulanis man think.

What you have done for over 60 years and got the same results, even if you do it in next 1000 years it will still be the same results.

Dont u share common value with those in your local govt and state?
Is ur local govt and state not an extension of Nigeria?
What have your people ruling at local and state level doing differently?

Nothing like the head controls the tail.
Allocations are sent to your states and down to ur local govt.
All the people in ur local govt speaks same language with u.
If you cant hold your local govt chairman embezzling ur local resources, by the time u have ur own country, it is the same people that will be the head of that country.
If u cant hold then now, i am sorry u cant still hold them accountable when u have ur country

Dividing Nigeria will solve our problems. People who are divided deeply along tribal, ethnic, religious and ideological lines have no business being together in one country. It will be fight without end, which is pretty much the storyline of Nigeria

Only those of like minds should be together in a country because only them have any chance of becoming a nation

Ur governors and local govt chairmen, are they not the same tribe with you?
Why are dey not developing your states and local govt with the resources that they get?
Instead they loot all

The lies u all tell yourselves 🤣
And Abia man is the governor of Abia state, why is he not solving Abia problem?
An Ekiti man is the governor of Ekiti, why is he not solving the problem of Ekiti?
Same goes for other states.
They all get allocations and loot it and u do nothing but to lie that having ur own country will solve your problem
Keep up with the dream

Why woukd they develop anywhere when they are in Nigeria? A country that the system is very corrupt and allows them to steal? This is one the things we mean when we say Nigeria does not work. A system in which the leaders have entrenched a system of corruption. So what's the purpose of having a Nigeria where a Governor has immunity to carry as much money as he likes, while in office, but I could have a seperate country where no Governor has immunity from criminal investigations, as is in the USA?

Nigeria has never worked because its not workable and the British should have dissolved the country they created in 1914, when they were leaving in 1960

So what is then the purpose of Nigeria? If the problem of Ekiti and Abia has not been in solved in Nigeria, what's the purpose of Ekiti and Abia being together in Nigeria? Better that Ekiti and Abia go their separate ways, become separate countries, and if their problems dont change in their separate countries, they still lose nothing than if they were together in Nigeria

Good idea ignoring that fella going forward! You can tell from his selective arguments exactly where he’s coming from, so what’s the point!? He’s on this forum primarily to protect and sustain the status-quo of a deeply kwarrupt and dysfunctional country that’s been structured from late 60s to date to service the interests of a hegemonic few while at the same time cheating, subjugating and oppressing others and milking their resources!

Just how TF can any ethnicity, region or group thrive to the fullest extent of their abilities in the unitary, command-and-control system of gov’t such that Nigeria operates! A system that elevates the president to the position of omnipotence and godlike status while governors of the component units scurry about to ensure his every whim and caprice is taken care of! It’s the warped democracy we operate in Nigeria that enables a one party state to emerge in all but name!

Anybody who thinks dividing Nigeria will solve our problems is deluded. Corruption and lawlessness has eaten deep into the fabric of our make up, and this is the root of many of our problems. This is currently manifest at ALL levels of the country. If the country divided tomorrow, and somebody like Wike was president in the Niger Delta, or Gado Dollar president of Arewa, how would that lead to progress?
Re: Dividing Nigeria Won't Solve Our Problem. Addressing The Real Issue by truthera: 3:01pm On Oct 24, 2025
Dividing Nigeria will go a long way in liberating the people because Nigerians are too tribalistic to unite and build a nation that works for everyone. Simply put, Nigeria was never meant to exist in the first place. I believe that if I-gbos are given the opportunity to form their own country, there is no region that won't want it's own country as no one will want to remain in Nigeria once the igbos leave. The political elites benefiting from one Nigeria who are largely responsible for the unjust, highly corrupt and evil entity that the country Nigeria has become will never allow their cashcow country to be dissolved. I think Nigerians can save themselves now only through a revolution that will lead to dividing the country or restructuring the country.

Lets take Abia state for an example
Today the people of Abia are rejoicing for having otti as governor. For the first time, there is a governor that is performing close to average.
Now same Abia was governed by orji kalu, theodare orji and Ikpeazu for 24 years. This three individuals are igbos and sons of Abia state. Now imagine if these 3 Abia sons put their state first and performed like otti is doing, by now, Abia would have been a modern state. Same goes for other states in Nigeria.
Our problem is not tribe or diversity. Nigeria problem is a people's problem. U now that is typing this, if they allow you to rule Nigeria, u may likely do worst than Tinubu. When Tinubu was criticising fed govt from 1999 to 2015, no one tot he be will worst.
An average Nigerian is corrupt and greedy and it has nothing to do with tribe

Why should i as a citizen be the one to hold the person that’s the chairman of my local government accountable?

What are the institutions created to do check and balances meant for?

EFCC, ICPC, the state house of assembly, the police etc.

You guys are quick to shift the blame to the people while leaving the ones saddled with the responsibilities aloof.

Is it your lga chairman, councilor, state govt that shot pump price from 67 to 1000? $1 to #1500?, 7percent vat, income taxes, taxe on buying selling import export 1000percnt taxes on every single dime I deposit into my savings account instead of interest like it used to? 7percent tax on sms, data and everything except life that is beyond their tax celling? Antld all these, without anything to show for, instead they keep borrowing from china to imf, world banks and all have you. Just say the structure benefit you more hence it's no issues for you.

Me and u are the people.
Those working in the institutions are the people.
The president is a Nigerian like me and u.
Ebonyi state governor is an Ebonyi son
Osun state governor is an Osun son.
Chairman of Alimosho LGA is an Alimosho son. etc.
Nigeria problem is never about tribe but about the people.
