fuckJones:USA is quite safe. It's because a lot of media comes from the USA including crime reports that people have the idea that the USA is a crime scene...meanwhile at least in the cities , police response time is quick and superb. Also it is far easier for a journalist to get details of a crime in the USA compared to other countries Note that I do not excuse us war crimes tho. Modified In the USA, many cities and even towns and villages have media that covers events in that specific area AND also have websites..be it newspapers or radio or televsion. News aggregator sites like Yahoo, and MSN then pick up these stories, and post them on their site. Since YAHOO is very popular worldwide, people get to read american crime stories in real time...giving the impresison the US is this crime ridden place How about Nigeria for example? Many villages, cities and towns don't have 'local media'. Like now, does your village have a local newspaper, with a website? (The village I served in for NYSC did have a local newspaper, but at best it came out twice a month. No website). National media exist, but cannot cover every part of the country.
